Good morning, golfers!  It is a beautiful morning with the temp at 64°.

Good morning! Another cool start to the day in southern Michigan. Today is a meeting day at work with very little time between. If my afternoon meetings get done early, I might have time to get 9 holes in today! 

At home, our kitchen sink drain is clogged, and I took apart all the drain connections under the sink and they were clear. So it's something down the drain a little farther. Luckily, I have a drain plug about halfway down the line where I can try using a snake to clear it.

Good Morning. I know late for me. I got busier yesterday afternoon after golf. In fact busier than I want to be in retirement. I had played 5 days straight which is a stretch for me. The positive for me is I had no pain or stiffness. My bud from Charlotte had called wanting to play today wanted me to get a tee time but he did not know when he would be here. I am like WTF? Well we decided to play Wednesday. I had to call our leader of the Wednesday group and drop out. Then I wrangled us a tee time for Wednesday morning at Indigo. After that our Tournament Director called and it seems someone had dropped out of the 2 day event starting today. I had seen him earlier because he played in the Monday group. He knows me and knows I had played the last 5 days. But he wanted me to have first chance of the open spot. I wisely turned him down with thanks. My wife said smart decision. She had been married to me 36 years and knows I tend to push the issue WFO and that is when now I tend to hurt myself. LOL then my bud called and said he would cancel. I had to call the guy over the Wednesday group and get myself back in. With all of that going on my wife had to work last night so we did our Moose Club dinner date. I went to bed mentally and physically exhausted last night. Of course on cue the Big Boy woke me up at 5AM to do business. Ended up putting coffee on and went to sleep in the chair. The wife came home at 7:20 or so.

I got involved over on the Spy Trip thread foe 2025 for the possible Myrtle Beach trip. I am stoked on the thought of it. Called the course at 8 or so and cancelled the 8AM tee time for Wednesday. Wife is in bed knocked out tired.  i am fixing to go get some breakfast and mosey over to the course and see how the guys are doing and practice putting some

Good morning everyone

plugging away at work hoping this rain holds off for tomorrow's league night. It's a cool 55° with a high of 61°. It feels like fall for today, but back to 70's/80's the rest of the week.

Plans for tonight are chipping away at the house task list. planning to finish the paint in the closet and the electrical outlets/switches. If I have enough time i'll start filling nail holes. I know... I know... exciting stuff.

Mornin' all! 

Back to work after a great 8 days up at Linville GC. My wife and I knocked out 3 of the 4 interviews with Board Members as part of our application process, and looking forward to being members at the beautiful course in the coming months. Had some great range sessions with my irons, but still working out some driver/3 wood kinks. Got the occasional hard pull draw happening with driver--I notice my hands finishing to the left, which is fine with enough rotation towards the target, but I think I need to get a little more turn on the downswing and work to avoid an early extension to keep the clubface more square. Played Saturday and Sunday with rounds of 87 and 85 from the Blue Tees. Just gotta stay out of the hazards and avoid the doubles on the card. Approach game has been on point and saved me a lot of shots. The par 4 7th hole was playing around 352 on Saturday and hit it to 72 yards with an uphill blind shot to the green and stuck it within 2 feet which was great. Looking forward to playing our local course, Mimosa Hills GC, this Sunday and down at NMB over Labor Day weekend. Have a great week all, and hit em straight!

Glad you realized it on the walk and not in your house. There are only a few things worse than walking into a room where a sick dog has been, and I'd swear that those little bastards save up two or three days worth if they know it's going inside.

Nothing special today.  Work work work.

Having a hard time finding a suitable counter top for the lady boss' laundry reno. A thousand different ways that I could make one, but her Mind is set on a stone top. Remnants are easy to find, and relatively affordable,  but getting someone to cut them is not! Plus she has a specific color flecks she wants.  Ugh

Managed to get a round in yesterday and had an awesome round matching my PB. I always find it strange that often when I don’t play for a week I then play really well so now I’m debating whether to play again before the comp or hope the same happens if I don’t. I’ll update the Me and My Golf glove thread with details. 
@Byrnzee enjoy your trip to Italy. We got married in Rome and usually go back a couple of times a year.

looking forward to the numbers, Srixon is solid and reviews are good for those so should be a solid comparison for the PXG's... what shafts do you have in the Srixon's?

I noticed him whining a lot earlier than our normal walk talk so I'm very glad I decided to take him out right away. If that happened in the house, I'm pretty sure we'd have to move...

Played some more so so golf yesterday .. hit a few ok shots but still cannot stop making mistakes off the tee and with the wedges... Still a continuing ongoing work in progress...

Keep at it, the transition to whatever you are working on is the hardest part, but once it "clicks" then it is all good...

Tough one @Jim Shaw.

I understand the dilemma, practice for me is fine but I find that practicing at similar type course works, here’s my thinking, if I play a course where I have a comp and play amazing then on the day of the comp and it’s not going the same way it did on random day its makes it more tense, I would say trust your game, use a yardage book and swing smooth. 
You’ll do fine!

It was interesting.  I'm going to have to rethink the testing.  Because the irons are at opposite ends of the spectrum in specs. (weight, lie, etc) 

I was finding out that my swing was all jacked up and was making poor contact on both.  I'm going to have to test just one brand one day and then come back the next day with the other brand.

I am exhausted just reading the thread... luckily I have a "guy" that does all the booking for me and if I need some extra reps in I just book and usually the crew in the pro shop hook me up with a good group...

Good morning, Spies!!

Not too much going on here at the moment. The summer is winding down and fall semester is about to begin at GT, so things are kind of starting to ramp up as projects start to kick off. Hopefully that means I'll have a little more activity, especially as we work on retiring old equipment and replacing it with new.

Got the new Maltby IST Pro hybrid to add to my Maltby bag. Now that my workbench is done, I need to unload all the goodies I've been accumulating over the past few months into it so I can start building those TS1-IM's as well as get a couple FW wood tips swapped. I want to get a few things done before winter sets in so I can test some stuff at the range and maybe on course.

you are correct, in all my tournament experience I have never had two rounds exactly the same, however that is just golf as there are so many variables with this game, once I got my head around that I am ok with it.

the pre round practice for me is more of a consistent practice program that I have developed for myself ie, 20 bunker shots, 20 short chips, 6 push putts, 20 long distance feel putts, then to the range, 5 PW's, 5 7 irons, 5 hybrids, 5 drivers, this usually takes an hour. 

Post round practice involves more in-depth work on something that I didn't like during the round. 

The reason I would recommend something like this in tournament play is because it is "familiar" for me and has developed over time and works.

I hope you all have a great day. Busy day of football, PT, eye appt, and another football meeting tonight. 4 days of 6 straight officials and coaches meetings for both Youth and HS. 

 

I cannot wait to be able to swing a club again, it is my de-stressor no matter how badly I swing. I need to de-Stress in a bad way.

Celebrate the good shots as soon as you feel them, then step back, take 15 seconds to close your eyes, breath, calm the background internal noise and stories, and feel that swing again. Once done you should be able to replay that swing and feel sitting at your desk by doing the same calming steps. This puts the swing into your swing habits faster and makes it repeatable.

great honest post, the challenge for me with the Takomo products I tested was mostly getting used to exactly the same thing...

News Flash! Great news D/FW area, we will experience a major cold front today!! It will only be 103 degrees and not 107 like yesterday! 

I'm with @Josh Parker, extremely jealous of all the reports of cooler weather...

Speaking from experience:

1) Make sure that you have allowed plenty of time for the stack to clear, or you'll wear a new suit of black water when you crack the clean out. 

2) Make sure no one turns the sink on while you have the clean out removed!

2) Have a bucket and and old towel ready for when you remove the clean out.

3) Test the main by dumping water in through a funnel at the cleanout before you reinstall it and leak check - it might be further down. 

4) This is at least a 3 beer job, be prepared.

The way I try to handle this on the range is when I make good contact, I try to hold my finish position and watch the shot at least until it lands, to internalize the feeling and promote muscle memory. 8 seconds was the number I was given back when.

Good morning spies! Spent the weekend in the mountains to avoid some of the heat only to return to extreme heat. Supposed to break records today with temps topping 112. Oh well I will head out into the heat anyway this afternoon.  Shot an 86 yesterday trying to spin balls on rock hard greens. It was fun practice, but left me some seriously long putts. 

@Jim ShawFor your after round practice, especially after a round where the wheels came off mid way, how do you shut down the internal conversations and noise? Focused practice needs to be focused. Could have, should have, would have stories we tell ourselves after a round for me are focus destroyers.  Another question, your pre game routine, if it is disrupted, say the driving range is closed, does it disrupt your round negatively? Or are you able to set the tone of your round by setting your attitude?

Regripping clubs today. Pulled the Arccos sensors out of my current grips and the ShotScope ones are too lose. I lost several Arccos sensors over the years because the holes wore out. I am not starting out that way with the shotscope.

I don't have any sensors (yet), but I have the gizmo on the end of my putter to get the ball out of the cup without bending over (for which my back thanks me every round). That keeps coming loose as well. I think I'm going to glue it in place with Gorilla Glue or something.
