I have a blast playing VGA events and I'm a 25 handicap. No embarassment at all. You play with guys that have a similar handicap.

Just played yesterday. There were 6 holes that I completely blew up on. I think I shot a 95 which is high, but I don’t care. The company was awesome! I had a blast and probably drank one too much. For me it’s about the group, not the competition. My six blow up holes consisted of a 7, a 9, a 7, a 5, another 5, and a 7. I had 7 pars and 5 bogeys; no birdies. My putting was 1.8 strokes per hole. Not that I’m keeping track.

VGA Wyoming admin saw that the weather was going to be good so they reached out to Pelican Lakes and asked for as many groupings that they could get. Unfortunately they only could get 16. It will be like this for the next month or so until the weather gets better, but these rounds are unscheduled so I applaud VGA Wyoming for trying to get events like this scheduled.

Had our first outing for the year at Salish Cliffs in Shelton, WA last weekend. 52 players in mid-40 degree weather with 700% chance of rain, and we got it. Great day overall, not a great round, but what kind of an omen is cracking your driver head on the practice tees anyway.  Good group, some laughs and some ... incredulous moments as well. Course is in great condition, even being as soggy as it was from the consistent rain and cold weather we've had.

I signed up for the VGA events to be held on May 4 and 5 at Drumlins East (Private Course/Syracuse Univ) and Green Lakes. Any others playing here?

I decided to hold off on registering for others to see how well the events are run. Does anyone have experience with events in NY?

All you guys in the NE Region- This is gonna be one helluva event. 2-day Ryder cup style event pitting us against First Responders? Sign me up....TWICE! While the VGA still has open spots available and our squad has enough to compete if we ended at 16 players, the First Responder team is having a hard time filling their squad. I just spoke with the NY VGA director and he made it clear that this event is open to ALL first responders, not just NYPD/FDNY personnel. All that said- If you guys know of a First Responder willing to play, get this flyer over to them.

 

Cant speak to them in the universal language of a$$ whipping if they don't show up.....

Just signed up and hoping to play my first event during Military May. I am on my 2nd year playing on the Amateur Players Tour (APT) and love it. I had always played some golf since I was young; but, only 5x a year. Wasted a lot of prime golf years playing softball until I was 45, 3 of the years on the All-Navy softball team. Once I finally gave up a bat for clubs, I became a total golf addict. Rarely going two days without playing or practicing indoor or outdoor. 8 years ago I was a 23+ handicap and two years ago was able to get it in single digits and decided I wanted to experience tournament play. And I love it. Meeting new people and not realizing how different it is in that format has ignited my competitiveness. Can't wait to play some VGA events and connect with other veterans. If anyone is from the Philly-Lancaster-Harrisburg area, reach out and maybe we'll see each other out there!

Well I got onto the Bethpage Black waiting list....I was on and registering as soon as it opened and still got wait listed. CRAZY!

Time to start looking locally now. MA did not have to much as of last week

I just saw this and there's some stuff here in Minnesota.  I may have to look into it.  I stopped playing hockey a few years ago and miss the Warriors hockey locker room atmosphere.  Is this for all vets or just combat wounded and disabled like Warriors hockey?

This is for all Vets and their family. Hands down one of the best things I've done in my life as far as hobby's.

@cksurfdude @Shank Aaron @GolfSpy_SHARK you guys should come out west sometime! Check out SD who hosts a multi-day event with Wyoming in August. You’d love Golf Club at Devil’s Tower. The SD courses are awesome too, Elk Horn is crazy!

Thx! Actually planning on going to @Preeway July meet-up in Nebraska - includes Wild Horse which from just looking at the short flyover vid made me want to go!! But yeah would like to check out courses in SD sometime, too .. parts of that state look pretty nice for a visit!

 

@Shank Aaron - Engineers is outside Roslyn NY in Nassau County and not too far from me. Is that May 8th? Do you know if they allow spectators?

Anyway course has some crazy elevation changes and obstacles .. def do your homework on it in advance!

And a VGA event to boot!!! Check out the August 23-26 for SD. I was there last year, great time! Met Jim from NY and Greg from FLA. We had a blast! I played like poop though, I mean really poopy!
