L.A.B. GOLF BY TPT GOLF - anyone had hands on yet?

Just like the topic states, anyone have hands on with the new TPT shaft from LAB golf? I have an LA Golf shaft on my current SIK putter and I love it, and I'm about to order a DF 2.1 and I'm hung up on if I want to do the LA Golf shaft again or take the plunge on the TPT tech? I know alllll of this is based on feels basically so its super subjective but i would welcome any input here. I reached out to LAB golf directly of course but hope there are some others here who might be able to weigh in.

Nothing hands on, but when we had our Community Call with LAB Sam had mentioned a few things about it.

If you search "community call" there is a thread with all the links to the recordings. Sorry it's not time stamped.

I have not. I have the Accra in my DF2.1. I’m on record as saying that I didn’t think I would spend the extra money for the upgraded shaft. Now 90+ days later, I may have been wrong. I can’t say that on one single putt I could feel that it made any difference. However, when I think about all my putts in total this shaft just feels so stable and a stock Scotty putter now feels wimpy by comparison. So would I have done it at the time? No. Would I have been wrong? Probably.

So 3 months later, I would say I would not be disappointed to have spent $100 more for the Accra shaft. Now the question becomes is the LA Golf shaft worth $200 more dollars than the Accra and $300 more than stock?

There are two feels in a golf club. The first is how it feels in your hands. Accra vs LA. I seriously doubt you could feel $200 difference on a putt. The second is how does it make you feel. When you pull that putter out of the bag and you think “I have the most bad @$$ putter in the world. A thousand dollars worth of LAB Golf DF2.1 with a LA Golf TPT shaft, and I’m the best putter in the whole world.” So if that putter makes you feel more confident or just better about life then it’s worth it.

I’ve struggled with my driver for the past couple of years. I traded a Stealth Plus and G425 for a G430 and some cash. Is the G430 really worth more than those 2 combined? It doesn’t matter. It give me confidence. It has way more to do with the swing than the club, but in the one week I have had it, I won twice as much money as I spent on the driver. I know I’m going to play well with my it. Keep in mind, this is a driver that I use 12 times in a round. If a putter makes you feel confident, and the money doesn’t matter, than it’s worth it.

I asked Sam in the Facebook group about the significant differences between the TPt and the LAGolf. Yet to hear back.

I have the LA shaft in my Mezz and I am nothing but satisfied. If I were to try the TPT it’d be experimental more than anything. I’d still want to hear more feedback before pulling the trigger.

I would call Sam Hahn and get his opinion on what you should try given his extensive experience with golf and his dedication to L.A.B. putters.  My experience when he was involved with the Forum test last year, I was also in questioning mode about which shaft to select and his reasoning combined my responses for input produced the ACCRA shaft and it has been working well for me.

Not sure how to go about providing phone number or contact information as this is an open forum but will impress on @GolfSpy_APH for that detail.

thanks guys! Yeah it would be one thing if it was easy just to swap out the shaft, it's a lower risk experiment but the fact that it seems like you are essentially stuck with it makes me a bit more hesitant to just pull the trigger on the TPT blind.

The LA Golf shaft is a known quantity to me, I know how stable it is and how it feels to me it's totally worth the $$, if the TPT is more stable and feels better than the LA golf then it's FOR SURE worth the $$.

Will be interesting to find out more info on this. I'm 1000% sure that these shafts are not in any way shape or form a "value add" but I do feel that since the putter is the club you use the most (generally speaking) in your bag it should also be one of if not the best in your bag.

I did an Official L.A.B. DF 2.1 review last year, and I got mine built with the BGT Stability Tour Fire shaft. I know it’s not the same shaft as you are contemplating, but I wanted to tell you how much more satisfied I am with a better shaft. Not only do I love the feel, but everyone who has tried it immediately comments on the softness of the feel … and I think the shaft has a lot to do with it. I know it’s all about personal connection to a putter, so anything I like, others may not. But, I will say that I occasionally take out my steel shafted, TaylorMade Spider and I putt just as well with it on the practice green. But every time I set my DF2.1 in front of a putt that matters, I have a greater feeling of confidence. It is massive. But I do not care. I love this shaft and putter combo.

I bought the Meez.1 Max with the Accra shaft in the offseason. I had a SIK putter with a LA Golf shaft prior to the LAB. I liked the LA shaft but the torque of the SIK putter made me get rid of it. I really like my LAB putter, and I am likely going to get the TPT shaft for my current LAB putter. Ive never tried the TPT, but I feel that it will be a better shaft for me. Closer to the LA golf shaft i previously. I reached out to LAB and unfortunately the TPT shafts are on “backorder” for reshafts, wont be available til November possibly. That is fine because it is the offseason but I do want to have the new shaft for next season. My putting has been much better with the LAB putter in general, but hopefully a new shaft with more feel will help me with distance control, especially on lag putts. But if anyone is able to get their hands on the TPT shafts anytime soon, please update us on how it is!!!!

Just got it! Love the look, rolled a few putts on the practice mat and it feels fantastic. Need to take it to the practice green with the SIK and do a proper comparison.

ok so initial report after some putting green practice and 9 holes...swing weight of the club is much lighter than my SIK which for sure effected lag putting. HOWEVER feel was FANTASTIC and it was point and shoot as far as the ball going straight off the face. I went back and forth between the SIK and the LAB on the practice green and there is really no doubt the LAB is just more forgiving and has a better roll. I let some of the guys I was playing with try it out and the all remarked the feedback and sound was pleasing. The sound of the face is very "pingy" but the feel is very solid. I couldn't say how much better the TPT is to stock steel yet i will try to roll some at the golf store back to pack next time im down that way and see what i can feel and report back. I was rolling with the thumbs out putting and it worked really well, after awhile i eased my thumbs back down but wasnt putting any pressure on the grip with them. I think its a good drill to start out with a LAB.

ok so initial report after some putting green practice and 9 holes...swing weight of the club is much lighter than my SIK which for sure effected lag putting.

Niiiiice!! Definitely have had some of my friends adopt this year (much to my haste as their putting/scores will improve, lol). But I just got the email this morning from LAB that my baby is on her way back via UPS!! She will have a brand new TPT shaft!! I will report back soon with my critique as I previously had the Accra shaft on the Meez Max. But as of now, the countdown begins til she comes home!!

UPS delivered my baby back to me with a brand new TPT shaft!! I have the Meez Max, previously had the Accra shaft. Now, it could be the money I paid for it and my mind willing me to say that the TPT shaft is better, but I am definitely SOLD on the TPT shaft. The feel is so much better than the Accra in my opinion. The weighting is more evenly distributed along the putter which gives me a better feel. I felt like the Accra, I could feel the weight of the head of the putter. With the TPT the weighting seems more even despite the increased weight near the head. Ive only rolled a dozen putts on my BirdieBall green, but so far I feel like it was money well spent. I hit the course in a couple days, hopefully it translates for me with better distance control. Obviously with the LAB putter it is point and shoot, but for me it is all about distance control. TPT for the win!!

I have been putting soooooooooo much better these days with my Mezz Max Broom with the Accra shaft however no doubt I will be following you all concerning the TPT shaft.  @Sherlock How much did it cost to have your putter shipped back to LAB for the TPT install?

Just got it! Love the look, rolled a few putts on the practice mat and it feels fantastic. Need to take it to the practice green with the SIK and do a proper comparison.

Putter looks incredible! Hope you are enjoying it!

TPT is only a few hours away from me and hoping that if all things go well I will be able to do a site visit and writeup for HQ. Maybe then I can get some insights in why they partnered with LAB and what makes them as special as they are.

I have sik Flo c with a la golf shaft.  I like my putter a lot.  But I love the innovation of LAB.  Just out of curiosity which SiK putter did you have?

There is a facebook group for L.A.B. Users and a lot of the recent feedback is that the Accra shaft in the broom is springy…

Is that your experience?  I tend to steer away from opinions without evidence for obvious reasons.  As someone who prefers a softer feel, I am wondering if this springy feel is misinterpreted as soft.

I don't have the broom, but I have to say I find that a little surprising. The thing is stiff! It is absolutely one of the stiffest profiles I have used in any golf shaft.

@bens197 -- Yeah I'm a member of that Facebook group too and I have heard the "springy" remarks. A.K.A. as Bill Sandefur

Personally, it feels soft IMO as opposed to springy.  Maybe I don't have the club head speed of some of the younger bucks and I would have to whack the hell out of my broomstick to feel any spring to the shaft. With that said I can see how they might be also referring to feeling the head more. The broom is definitely heavy so be prepared for that. The only reason I would be interested in that high cotton shaft is to obtain a more spread out or even feel in the weight distribution.  I'm looking forward to @Sherlock and his thoughts on the TPT shaft as it would have to be miles better than the Accra for me to shell out $400.00 + bucks to upgrade my shaft.

This is why I am asking…to yield a trusted response like this.

I wonder how many folks were scared off by the Accra just from one person’s opinion.

This is super helpful, thanks big dawg.

I believe it’s fair to assume that the next evolution of their broom shaft would address balance and feel to improve it across the board.  I would compare it to a Tensei orange shaft from 2020 and the TPT would be more like a Tensei 1K.
