What makes you different and why would you be the next best tester for MGS Forum?

I’ve clicked the tester button well over a hundred times in my 8+ year MyGolfSpy experience.   Never been selected - yet.   Play golf 3-4 times a week, maintain a 4-6 handicap at age 61.   Have won over 10 club championships in life and still competing in biweekly traveling tournaments.  Lucky enough to card 8 hole-in-ones.  Known as a trend setter at our club.  Always trying to improve.  Gadgets that show up in my bag often are followed by others getting similar toys.   Rarely does a club sit in my bag more than 2 years.  Always trying to find the best equipment to help in my quest to get back to 1 handicap (the old days).  Played some of the nicest courses in the world, and still looking the game tame them!

I made sure to read the "How to be a tester" post and thread. I've only been here a few months but I've been pretty involved with posting on threads, making my own equipment question thread and checking in multiple times a day for new stuff. I minored in sports journalism at Bethel U where I also got a full ride to play golf, so I'm a competant writer and a semi-competant golfer. I am obsessed with golf and play on an actual course at minimum 3 times a week whether it's perfect conditions, rain, or freezing(as it has been the last 3 months). I'm an equipment junkie so I'll do literally anything to try new stuff 😆 I keep up to date on all the newest releases and golf news in general. I'd like a chance to prove myself as a tester and reviewer. I feel like if I get that, then my performance will show there would be no issue me being trusted with future tests. Either way, this is a great community and I'm glad to have found a place in it!

Basically the short video is me to a tee, I'm not built like a proper golfer, I like to enjoy myself on my course in Donegal & I'm great at pitching 🤣. In all seriousness (if thats a word lol) I love golf, I play off 14.5,  I love trying to play it & I love trying to learn new things whether it be my swing, my equipment or espically my putting. Pick me for being a tester & you'll get an honest, frank & realistic review of any equipment I'm testing. Thanks folks, hopefully I'll be one of the lucky ones 🤞

I love my Callaway Paradym Driver, 3 wood & 4 hybrid aswell as my 6-lw irons, but I'm struggling with my taylormade spider. But will get there 🤣

Hello everyone, I believe that I would be a very solid choice for a tester because I hit the center of the clubface more often then not and can provide insight for lower handicap players. I don't have a sim, or a membership to a country club. I'm a blue collar guy that gets out 1 to 2 times a week due to work and family, but I am a consistent +1 handicap that shoots between 65 to 75. I'm not a big numbers guy, I am a feel player. With money being tight, going out and purchasing clubs at will is no option for me. So, if I were to recieve any equipment, bet your tail I will be using it! I'm new here so allow me to share my bag with y'all.

As a physical therapist niched in golf, I am uniquely situated in two private country clubs, as well as, working with public golfers in a gym. I am always looking for more equipment to use with my clients during their sessions, as well as, on the course with friends or members.

Starting this spring I am working with an assistant pro at a member club on a fitness golf course. This course will work on biomechanics and swing changes to improve the players distance and consistency.

I have always felt like one of the DTC clubs would be great to test and show all of the members at the local clubs.

I feel that I would be a good candidate to be a tester of many different products.  I’ve been playing for 50 years and much more in the last 5 years improving my handicap from 20+ down to a 13.  I did have back surgery 1/2023 and all good since then.  My goal is to get to single digit by the end of this year.

I play twice a week and then will be practicing more as well.  My driver is a fairway finder hitting 10-12 per round.  Short game and putting is good but plan to improve in both of these areas.  Last couple of years I was fitted for 3 wood and 5 wood which have really improved my 2nd shots.  Still room for improvement!
I would provide my honest opinion on the products and try to help others to improve their game.

Ive only been able to test out some clothing so far but it was definitely a cool experience being able to some of the awesome products we were able to try out. I hope that we cant take out experiences and the companies can see our input into them and maybe be able to adopt some changes. Seeing a group trying out similar items and may have a different outlook on a product than I have and maybe make me think of something in a different light especially when were focused on similar products versus some forums can get off topic and lose yourself in the conversation.

Been playing for about 2 years in total. Winter breaks and a 6month period when I got sick. Starting to feel like myself again and recently played a “okay” round.
I currently have custom fit Cobra LTDx irons/wedges, a Vokey 60(cause my short game has been the best part of my game, and a Maverick 9 deg. Driver. Driving is the worst part of my game so My 4 iron usually takes alot of the long game abuse.

I’ve been playing golf for forty odd years now and love comparing techniques and equipment from bygone eras. I’ve never been a tester before but would love the opportunity. I am an accredited professional engineer specialising in NDT (non-destructive testing) so as such, looking into fine detail and being able to distinguish the processes, manufacturing and materials of clubs is second nature. I also write detailed and scrupulous reports and create and use novel techniques to test metals as part of my job. I also am infatuated with my Rapsodo MLM2PRO, much to the bemusement of my ever patient wife, and am often deep diving into the results produced to eke out that fraction of a percent advantage through equipment combinations. Also, I’d love the opportunity to represent the minority of Brits who frequent this glorious site!

My equipment is eclectic.  I have a callaway rogeu driver, Titleist 3 wood, Mizuno 5 wood, PXG 5-PW, Cobra gap and lob with a Ping Putter.  Golf balls used are the Snell MTBx.

I’d be a great tester as I have tried and succeeded/failed with a variety of clubs.  I’m not afraid to give it a chance as long as it has potential.  I was one of the first to try Takoma and New Line clubs with mixed results.

I should be a tester because I love the game. I play about five times a week and that would give me the opportunity to thoroughly test any item I might be selected for. I spent most of my career working in athletes. Thank you for the opportunity.

This is all very good to know.  Providing a rubric is an excellent way to show/remind people about what you should do.

That being said, I only apply to a select amount of items (I know I won't care about some products).

That being said, maybe I should make my own review.  I'll just follow the rubric.  Getting tired of waiting to win the lottery.

Plenty of "unofficial reviews" posted. I love reading through them. Alot of the items have never heard of before in there. Also a wealth of solid information available!

Hello.  I've been in and around the golf business since 1973.  Since 1999, I have been a golf course superintendent as well as also being a G/M at the same time at some courses. 67 years of age and still working as GM/Superintendent. I have studied the game as the golf swing, and have and still do club repair. It would be a pleasure to test the equipment.

Thanks,  Mike

I grew up playing golf since the age of 7 and worked in the golf industry for a few years before I decided to change directions. I still compete on a couple of very competitive amateur tours. Although I'm quickly approaching 60, I can still compete with a lot of the limber backs. My handicap usually stays around 4-5 and I play a couple times a week usually between 6200- 6600 yards

I have been a club builder for 40+ years.  I have been a competitive player for 50+ years and have played collegiate golf, won state, national and international golf tournaments.  Many refer to me as a "golfaholic".  I know golf and know how to evaluate all things related to golf!

Over the years I have been a fan of equipment.  Even though I don’t change my equipment a lot, I do like to understand it.  I want to know if I can improve with different equipment.  I enjoy reading about different equipment and trying new equipment.  It is also enjoyable when friends come to you when they are in the process of looking for something new and or different.

Why should I be a tester? Let me count the ways 🙂 I have been playing golf forever - 50+ years.  I started playing with my parents , we would go play after dinner all the time and our cat would follow us on the course. The journey has been pretty wild since then.

I have a habit of changing equipment far too often and am always searching for new ways to get better. I do all of my own club work, a lot of grip work.  Transitioned from tape and solvent to air installation when I moved to Pure grips.  Then they went out of business, but I bought a stockpile of them before they went under.

I have a Foresight GC Quad based simulator in my house - a couple of images enclosed of the room, along with all of the wood shafts from a long term test of shafts to find what worked best for me (yes I have been through many fittings, but there is a lot more you can do on your own when there are no time limits). I have a 10 x 10 x 10 hitting cage in my yard to hit outside, along with an artificial green where I spend many hours a year putting and chipping.

I am an engineer that has done many scientific tests many on automative parts, and full vehicles.  These included data acquisition, to analysis and the design of the test to begin with. I also do Finite Element Analysis to analyze full structures and systems.

I design and build loudspeakers and in true engineer fashion - love taking thongs apart  to see how they work. Lastly I have a couple electric golf carts and have owned 3, so I have a ton of experience with them.

I try to give feedback to companies about their products, but unfortunately most companies do not understand the value of feedback and ignore it, when they could listen to the customers to build the ultimate product in their given category and sell more product.  Testing is in my blood.

I have been enjoying golf for the last 20 years. Started so I had a hobby with my dad, after he slowed down so did I. After taking a break for last few years, I got back in the game after finding some coworkers who were starting to enjoy the game. Being back has been a joy, and looking for opportunities to learn about new technology. Been investing in a few clubs but would really like to upgrade my irons in next few years.

Love the game and trying new products. Avg getting out on the course once a week try for two if possible. I play with a large number of different golfers. Good, bad, young, old, really good, really bad. I'd rather play with a random then play alone. (In case I happen to have that second hold in one. Everyone needs a witness) From teeing it up at Kiawah Ocean Course or playing in member guest events like Spring Creek (VA) to the hometown local tracks. I love the game and the challenges it brings!

Except putting.....lol

Hi all!

having had all the winter to work on my game, joining a new course for this season, having the time after work to practice and work on my game I feel I am in the best spot to now test different equipment and have a good understanding of what I am doing with the equipment.

I am rennervating a house this year too and have made my claim to land at the back of the house for a golf sim so I will always be working on my game!

I am also a teacher and for that I need to be a reflective practitioner, something I have definitely channelled into my golf this Winter.

I think I'll be a rubbish tester.

I started playing about six months ago and still have not worked out my mashie from my niblick. My handicap is not a number - it's just me. There were days when my 9 iron flew truer and longer than my driver. Of course, that's been sorted out with a driver fitting. But that 9 iron does not go away and every now and then comes up trumps. I am coming to the view that I should just carry one club - say, a 7 iron - and just go around the course with that. When I have worked out how to do that, I might come back for a second club.

Any one need a 7 iron tested? Or even a 9 iron? Let me know @GolfSpy_APH. It could be that I am missing a few (all?) of the great recommendations made by @cnosil...
