MrBandit
I was excited to play a 2 day tournament down at Horseshoe Bay.. Played ok.. on the first day, except for that unnecessary 9 on a par4 (2 in the water). Then the second day was absolute garbage.. I couldn't put 2 decent swings together back to back.. not until the 12th hole by then the damage was done. No rhyme or reason.. just didn't have it.. golf sucks.. Need to take a break this week and gather my thoughts and the meaning of life. Popular Post Kenny B
A pretty good weekend for this old duffer. After the double-bogey-free 82 on Saturday I felt like I was striking the ball fairly well, but couldn't get any putts to drop. Sunday we played in the morning rain when we teed off. Invoking a quote... The Cadillac pulled up to a hundred and four The Ford got hot and wouldn't do no more It then got cloudy and started to rain I tooted my horn for the passin' lane The rainwater blowin' all under my hood I know that I was doin' my motor good - Chuck Berry Although it wasn't my lowest score, I had a really good ball striking day with only two bogeys on each nine... 39/37 for 76 and another round shooting my age! Not a single birdie, but I had some good chances. My speed on the greens was off just enough that putts didn't go in. The ball rolled OK, but the wet greens made them slower than usual and slower than I like. Putts were short or broke under the hole, and when I gave them a little extra, it was too much. Not used to wet greens in August. Popular Post cnosil
A wet humid day at the course yesterday; Rained until about 30 minutes before my tee time and then the sun came out. 12 FW, 10 GIR, 33 putts. 42/41:83 pretty happy with the round except for a few holes; I had 4 doubles. Some were related to poor shots and some were just because I was physically struggling and just couldn’t make a good swing….hoping a doctor can figure out what is going on soon. short game was a little bit of a struggle; most of my missed green were just on the fringe so I used the putter but couldn’t figure out the speed and left the ball outside of one putt range. Since I have put the TaylorMade putter back in the bag my putting has improved in the 6-10’ range; not sure why I am still pondering a new putter . The other thing I need to work on is shots where the ball is above my feet. Hit the ball fat most times I am in this situation. overall feel like my game is in a decent place. Short game (50 yards and in) is definitely the prime area that needs to be solidified. Popular Post ruliz
Played this weekend after 2 weeks of being busy and couldn't make it to the course. Saturday shot 88 (45-43) 32 putts, but 2 birdies! ball strinking was kinda good after not playing or practicing for 2 weeks but had some mental errors and those accumulated some shots. Putt kind of saved me from going in the 90's again. Had 5 one-putts. Only three putted 1 time and didnt have a lot or GIRs this round, that why i kinda struggled to score. Sunday felt like a better day. Sot 82 (38-44). First 9 I was playing lights out, chasing pins and all. Had a ton of GIRs but didnt hole that many putts. Also had 32 putts on Sunday but my scored lowered 6 shots from one day before. Felt like I striped the ball better but didnt leave me great chances for birdie. Three-putted 3 times and still got a good round. Only 1 birdie in this round. The back 9 is where I struggled because we ran into a slow group in the tees of 17 and had to wait the last to holes and ended up double-bogeyin 17 and 18. +4 the last 2 holes was tragic. Still had a lot of fun playing this weekend. My course and slope ratings are 71.2 / 129 from the blue tees which is 6520 yards. fixyurdivot, Kenny B, Grand Stranded and 7 others 10 Quote Raul Z. Shrek74
Got out for my first round since February yesterday and my first round since moving here to Central TN 2 months ago (damn rain). It went about as bad as you think - 47/57/104. There were plenty of positives as my 50yds and in game went really well, but my approach game was garbage. I had several new clubs in the bag including a new driver which didn't do too bad the first few tee shots. I used 3w a lot off the tee as there were plenty of shorter holes and doglegs. Need to get that club to the range for a nice small bucket to try and figure it out. I go for my first meet up with my new swing coach in 2 weeks, so that'll really help get me on the right track with my irons. Plenty of opportunities to play here on my 5 home courses these next few months before winter sets in. Popular Post bens197
Played a wonderful fundraiser scramble today with some good friends. Hosted by Sodus Bay CC in NY, it was one of RTJ’s first courses that he had influenced. It was my first round there and it’s easily my top 5 NYS courses I’ve ever played. Just gorgeous and fun. We shot -11 and finished second. Hit some great shots, my driver was a mess and I’ll be on the board seeking advice as I lay out my troubles. Popular Post ParFore74x
Way better today. 41/45, 86 with three doubles on 10, 11, & 12. Pulled it back together on 13 and held on through the end. Ball striking was much improved from last week, especially irons. Hit most of my goals for the round with 7 fairways, 6 GIR, & 7 pars. I was able to pull the 2 iron that I am borrowing out of the bag for three tee shots. Two of the three found the fairway with the wayward shot only missing by about three feet. Average yardage was 215 which isn’t bad in my book although I’d like to see 5-10 more. bens197, cksurfdude, JerryB and 7 others 10 Quote TSi3 10° w/ Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Black 65g TS2 15° 3W w/ Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black 6.0 70g 818 H1 21° Hybrid w/ Mitsubishi Tensei CK Blue 70g MP-18 MMC 2 iron w/ KBS Tour C-Taper S 120g JPX 921 HM 5-GW w/ Project X LZ 5.5 115g JB Forged 54° & 58° w/ Project X LZ 6.0 120g EV5.3 Black Official Tester Review Nitron push cart Unofficial review
Popular Post JerryB
Owen and I played Orchard Valley in Aurora yesterday with our friends Mark and Tim. It was our second time there; last year we played with a couple other friends and had a mostly miserable experience so we've been itching for the chance to go back. This was an adventurous round. I started out strong; piping my drive straight and actually coming to a stop in the backstop behind the green. Chipped back on and missed the birdie putt. Had a really good chip that led to another par on the second hole. A water ball on 3 and I wound up with a double, but then I parred the fourth hole after another good chip shot. Then hole five happened. My drive faded/sliced back towards the starter shack. It apparently almost hit the starter, bounced off a cart and rolled down into the cart barn! One of the kids working there took me to my ball, and then they all backed away like I was going to play it from there, lol. I took my drop and proceeded to play it back and forth over the green, finishing with a quad bogey. Parred hole seven when I again faded my driver, but it bounced along the cart path and left me nearly pin high. Had a fun approach shot on nine where the ball was about waist high on the side of a hill. Put it just off the green on the left side but I was pretty proud of the shot. Hole of the day was an eagle on eleven. On the green in two and hit a 23 foot putt! I parred the next one, a tricky par 3, before falling apart the rest of the way; a triple, then five doubles the rest of the way, including several lost balls. We all shot in the upper 80's to low 100s. I had a 46/48 94. A really good time and we're looking forward to the next one. Popular Post fixyurdivot
40/43 today at Granite Falls South. I've been on a heater of sorts, so I half expected the bottom to drop out soon. Nothing real off but nothing real on either. I continue to miss birdie chances and that's really not helping. I'm almost thinking I'm subconciously protecting for the par... anone else experience this? Oh well, my index is now the lowest it has ever been 8.7 . It might have been around that or lower way, way back in college but I can't recall. It's pretty cool setting new PB's in score and index as a senior-ish person . Vegan_Golfer_PNW
Much better front nine today that could have been better. Ten strokes better than last week. 47 with 3 pars, 3 bogies a double and two triples. The triples were due to poor tee play (shanked 6i on par three that I tried to bump onto the green but went into the bunker and number nine hooked my driver ob). Started par par. Had two balls in bunker and got out in one shot each. One bogey was a three putt on a long par three that this round was the first round I gotta GIR on. Had two great drives with my 4w, one good one with driver. Overall game was in decent shape and I think I can turn a corner if I remember to play golf (did this this nine) than golf swing (last week). josmi15, JerryB, Kenny B and 4 others 7 Quote Follow my journey to enjoying golf and going low Driver: Epic Max LS TD Cat 4 60g 3wHL: Rogue ST LS 75x Tensei AV Blue w/ xlink 7w: Apex UW 21* MMT 80S DI: Caley 01X 18* with PGH Stiff plus 95g 4-AW: 0211 with Tour Stiff 2.5* up 3/4" long, Soft stepped, MOI matched Wedges Zipcore Putter:Directed Force 2.1 69*/35" in blue Ball: Prime 4.0 Shot Tracking: Bag: Vessel VLX 2.0 Grip: Lamkin Sonar + Midsize Glove: My Reviews: Caley 01X Driving Iron Review 2023 Max Swing Speed Training and Speed Progress: Current Speed 120 in the MGS Speed Challenge (updated 3/15/23) TAIII #2 Review here: TAIII Impact #2 Putter ) Zipcore Tour Rack 54/full and 58/mid (review here) 0211 2019 Unofficial Review

Needhammer10
Shot a 92 and an 83 on the same course on back to back days. Pretty windy on the 92 round but I wonder if it’s the level of golfer I’m playing with that impacted my score as much as it did. Played with my dad who I’ve never beaten the first time and my brother in law who has just started playing on my 83 round. Just played a lot more relaxed and struck the ball a lot more consistently. Like I said I’m sure the wind impacted my score some but I’m curious if anyone else feels like who they play with impacts their score or if I’m just a head case lol. (For sure a head case by the way) JerryB, Shankopotomous, MaxEntropy and 4 others 7 Quote Drew Needham Teacher and Coach

Popular Post edingc
Feeling like I'm getting back on track and playing more up to where I was hoping to be this season. Driver continues to be the weak spot of my game and I need to work on that as it costs me a couple of strokes each round it seems. But today was a good day, carding a +1 73 after coming to 16 one-under. Three-putted a tough, tough pin placement on 16 for bogey after burning the edge and watching the ball roll out way too much. Followed by a missed five footer par save on 17, and on 18 I smother hooked a drive leaving me 190+ into the green. Nice 6 iron to 30 feet, my birdie putt for even par 72 hit the lip and rimmed out... oh well! Ten of my last 15 rounds have been 79 or better so that's a positive streak to have going for me right now. Popular Post Sluggo42
Last game for a week as I go up to Washington State to see my mom have her 91st birthday. Fingers crossed she remembers all us kids. That dang dementia is a cruel deal.. Shot decent, but we had a 3-way tie going into 18. I parred, but one bogied, and the 3rd wheel dropped the birdie putt for the daily win.. rats! Not sure what a week off will do to my game, hopefully nothing bad!
