richk9holes
Wet day played solo front 9 at +9. Hit 5/6 FW but approach shots were a little off. 2/3 par 3s were excellent tee shots pictured below, 4h from 173y to 3' missed the birdie. 5i from 168y to 8' rolled across the hole missed the birdie. JerryB
Played our informal company outing at River Heights yesterday. Me, Owen, my dad, and Owen's friend David. Beautiful weather. My drives kept switching between really solid and squibby tops. Irons were actually decent; while distance wasn't there, they were mostly on target. My putting was great, I hit twelve putts. My dad won one of the closest to the pin holes with a five wood, ha! We had four birdies and a bogey. Winning team went six under. Great day and we're hoping to do the next one late July. Kenny B
Played Saturday and Sunday with a couple that we used to play with over the last few years, but they like to play early. We haven't played with them since last fall because I like the later tee times when the weather is cold. They both have improved quite a bit, so it was a fun couple of rounds. A pair of 79's for the weekend; happy with that after playing 5 different courses in Oregon this week. Every one was different with different green speeds; hard to get in a rhythm. Our course is very lush right now with irrigation and lots of sunshine; rough is thick and needs mowing, but that's done on Mondays and I hacked a few shots out of it today. Grass should be shorter on the weekends; two tournaments after our tee time, so I expect a lot of balls to be found tomorrow in the rough. Popular Post GolfSpy_KFT
Played 9 today and shot a 48, which was two strokes off my best of 46. Didn’t hit it well off the tee but putted pretty well. No 3 putts and only 16 total putts. We decided to play the back 9 for fun and things went off the rails and I didn’t end up keeping score. Was a beautiful day and other than tee shots I was really pleased with other aspects of my game. Need a range session and lesson with my head pro in the worst way. Once school is out for my oldest and the cobra challenge starts I’ll be getting two weekly range sessions over my lunch hour and I’m hoping that’ll help my tee game. Popular Post Tom the Golf Nut
I was going to play yesterday but there was a golf outing for veterans going on. I did get to play today. It rained until about 7:30. Then It cleared up and I headed to the course. They let me off the back by myself. No warmup. My goal was working on completing my back swing with a slower take away. It was working, well except for the first hole. I hit a great drive followed by a skulled 9 iron short of the green. Then followed by a poor chip and two putted. But that was the end of that. I got most of my distance back, more greens in regulation and I even eagled hole 8, the same hole I eagled last week. I made a birdie on the 13th hole where I also found a volkey 56 degree wedge left behind from the tournment the day before. I turned it in to the pro shop after my first 9. But I tried it on the 14th hole as I was 85 yards from the green due to another good drive. I never hit a volkey before. Pretty nice but I was closer with my sub 70 JB wedge. I had a nice sand save on a 180 yard par 3. Walking to the next hole I almost got hit by badly hooked ball from the par 3 tee box. It was close. Didn't even yell fore. I stared him down and then he waived apologetically. He kept his distance after that. But it was a good day all around. I only missed 1 fairway but i hit a punched 8 iron under a tree limb around 130 yards then bounced and rolled up to 5 feet and that was the eagle. Came in at 1 over for a 73. But most importantly I figured out my distance loss with my mid irons. Thanks Youtube. I don't even remember who it was I was watching but it helped. richk9holes, rkj427, RollingGreens and 14 others 15 2 Quote Driver, TSi 1 S Flex 3 wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 5 wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 7 Wood, Aerojet Max UST Helium Nanocore R Flex 5 Hybrid King Tec MMT R Flex Irons, Tour UST Recoil 95 R Flex (6 - Gap) Wedges, Snakebite KBS Hi- Rev2.0 54* & 60* Agera 35" Ultralight 14-way Cart Bag
rkj427
First full round of the year for me here in Michigan. Played behind a very slow group in front of me, thank goodness they left after hole 13. On the front, there were a few holes where I actually hit mid irons off the tee, and a couple wedges into the green just to keep the pace moving along. 36 putts total, no 3 putts, but greens were on the slow side. Actually, I was pleased with how well I putted today considering it was the first time out, and speed control was good with just "tap-ins" usually left for the 2nd putt. russtopherb
Played in a scramble yesterday, we finished middle of the pack but I had fun and I was really happy with the fact that my swing got better as the day went on. Tough having only been to the range a few times and no actual course time yet due to my schedule. Thankfully it's full on golf season for me now. Best part of the day was one of the par 3 holes, where my son was the spotter for the Hole In One contests. We all missed the green, some just barely, but we weren't on. My buddy who's a 5 hands my son a mulligan ticket and his 7i and tell him to take a shot. Having sat there for hours, he steps up and sticks his freakin' shot pin high to 7 feet. It was incredible. warrenator8
Played 9 on Saturday (the driest day all weekend). Shot bogey golf with a few highlights, including striping a three wood past my playing partner in front of two foursomes behind us. Driver as a little off, as I was getting a bit more of a fade than I have been recently. But the biggest improvement was with my putter. In my last four rounds, I had had one of the worst putting runs of my life. I make a putter change (White Ice 2-Ball to a Yes! Marilyn) and my putting was markedly better. Here's hoping that continues and the driver gets back to normal so I can be back on track. Boshek
I played my first 18 holes on Saturday. It was raining as I left the house for the 20 or so minute drive to Pointe South which is well South of Augusta for my 10:38 tee time. Thankfully it was not raining when I got there though the course was a little wet and skies were overcast. The sun came out around the 15th tee. Biggest takeaways was approach shots need work, a lot of dog legs on the course leaving me 180yrds from the hole and I couldn't hit the 3 wood or hybrid off the deck at all, and chipping is still rough. Highlight was tee shots were better than I though only skied one and I sank an 18ft putt on 9 to salvage a horrible hole. I lost one ball in the water which I had lost in the woods but located. I also found another ball in the woods so finished even on balls. I got paired up with a couple of older guys and that went well. We all had a good time and despite my 134 strokes we never held up the course and ended up waiting a couple of times on the tee box for an older 4some to finish up. This was also the first time I tried to keep all the stats on 18birdies and it went pretty well. Pic below is after hole 4 the first par 3 which you better hit the green or it will go in a huge hole. The course features a large pond that plays in effect over the next several holes. Charles Lechair
Played Saturday and went 43/44. I think it's time to get some professional eyes on my swing. May have gotten as far as i can get on my own. The good: 2 birdies on the back, including stuffing one to about 3 feet on 18 (2nd hardest hole on the course), did the same on 6 on the front and missed the putt. The bad: Driver: hit 4 fairways. I have to get better with driver in my hands. I think i could shoot better scores going 3i off the tee, but that doesn't really feel like getting better to me. To get better, i have to be able to hit driver. Also, 35 putts with only 7 GIRs isn't gonna cut. Some of that can be blamed on the short game and approach game, but i just have to putt better. Popular Post Merlin1313
Went to play in a tournament on Saturday only to find out it'd been cancelled. I went out and played one of my best rounds (with a few minor exceptions) that I've played in a LONG time. The Good Stuff: My driver and I FINALLY seemed to like/understand each other, my Irons were right on the money(for the most part), my short game showed up in spades (for once). I hit 7/14 fairways, 11/18 GIRS, 34 putts and a really nice sand save. The pic with the "ball dent" is #4 from about 100out(yes I made THAT putt). I actually parred the Satanic 6th hole(we don't get along- it was playing 580 on Saturday). I had a "no Putt" chip-in on the 18th(ok- it was a Texas Wedge- but hey!!!!), coupled with 4 - 1putts. Most of the missed Fairways/greens were just inside the "first cut" or on the collar of the green. Oh yeah- this was my 2nd full round with the SAME ball!!!!!! I got to see a little bit of wildlife(the geese are STILL here), I got buzzed(again) by a Bald Eagle on #3 Tee Box, and Box Turtle showed me the way to the tee box The BAD stuff- I had a 4-putt on #3(the green has more ups/downs curves/level changes than a Coney Island Roller Coaster- and they put the pin in the side of one of the slopes) and 2-3putts. Apparently, my flat stick and I need to get better acquainted. I'll GLADLY take that round and hopefully it'll carry over to Thursday when we have our net Faculty/Staff tournament- which I KNOW will happen Edited May 22, 2023 by Merlin1313 GolfSpy_BEN, RollingGreens, MaxEntropy and 9 others 10 2 Quote ALL Paradym 10.5*(11.5*) (Hzrdus Gen 4 Silver 60/KBS TD) Apex UW 17* (Tensei AV Blue 75) Apex Pro 21 Hybrid 20*/23* (KBS Hybrid) Paradym 6-PW (Nippon NS Pro Modus 3 Tour 105X) Jaws Raw Face Chrome 48* (Nippon NS Pro Modus 3 Tour 105X) Jaws Raw Chrome Full Toe 54*/ 58* (Nippon Pro Modus 115 Wedge) Jaws Full Toe Black Wedge 64* (DG Tour Issue Spinner 115) WHOG #5 Chrome Soft X
Popular Post Syks7
A regulation 18 doesn't seem like it's in the cards this week so I squeezed in the Par 3 variety this morning. Pretty decent. +7 and I was an up and down machine today. It helps when you're hitting into tiny greens and only missing by a yard or two. On most courses I would have been on and putting for most of them. 4/18 GIR 13 Pars -- a new record for me 27 Putts -- My wedge play deserves some credit here but there was also a 10, 7.5, 6, and 17.5 footer that dropped along with two 22 footers that lipped out. I did have two doubles though & I actually know exactly why. One was at the turn at 10 (This par 3 is kind of a free for all). There was a group trying to go off on the back that caused me to rush. It was silly, but I allowed my focus to be interrupted by them. Then on 12 there was a guy that walked into my fairway as I was mid-swing. I blocked it right then got greedy with my wedges. Played the rest of the hole a bit too aggressive. Overall a very good day. I'm hoping I can translate it to a full size course eventually. Popular Post JerryB
I walked the front nine by myself at River Heights today. I started off with a par on hole one (awesome!) then a triple and quad bogey on the next two holes (not awesome!) before more or less settling down the rest of the way. Hit several really good drives and a couple clunkers. Irons were straighter again but distance was still woefully short. As soon as I tried to compensate I would hook it and blow past my target. Putting has been a surprising strength lately and that continued today. Who knew that taking a few moments to read and line up my putt would actually pay off?? Shot a (+13) 49 today. Certainly agree with you there. Obviously what I’m doing now isn’t working. I usually have a couple buddies out at the course and it’s tough to say no to going out and playing a quick 9. Definitely think some short game sessions could save me at least 4-5 shots a round though, so I need to start putting in the time for sure. Sometimes you know the obvious thing to do, but still need it pointed out to you. Sluggo42
A great round with one stoopid double after yanking a drive straight into the drink. Without that and without missing a 3 foot birdy putt, it would have been a +2 … but instead it’s a disappointing 76. But, I suppose if I never missed any shots I’d be a scratch player or better… which I’m not… **tsk** sirchunksalot, Kenny B, JerryB and 6 others 9 Quote TSr2 on tensi blue stiff Speedzone 3-wood on Tensi blue S Epic Max 5 and 7 woods on HZRDUS Reg flex Paradym 9 wood on HZRDUS reg flex P770 / P790 combo set on Ventus R-6 shafts 6-AW T22 Denim Copper 54°, 58° on Kinetic X Trajectory ER3 or, E.A.S. #4 (“Fang” or “Adele”) ProV1x, or, Maxfli Tour X .Org 14 cart bag Adidas Tour 360 , or Sketcher shoes
JerryB
Owen and I played the front nine at River Heights today. Bugs are getting bad, made the round a little less enjoyable. Owen played pretty well other than a couple little blowups. I believe he went +7. I, on the other hand, was consistent, but not good. Had a par, a bogey, and seven doubles. Driver has become pretty solid, putting is better than usual. But now that my irons are getting back online, my wedges have fallen apart and my long clubs have gotten chunky.
