Not well, had some OB shots on the first two holes before I settled, only to hit some shots significantly longer than I normally would resulting in missed greens.  54 on a 9 I expect to shoot in the low to mid 40's.

Got home and an hour later got an email that my new irons were delivere, so I missed them by probably 15 minutes.

Was a great round, great to be out, great to be playing with some family and made some incredible shots….until I got around the green

84 with 3 doubles and (5) 3 putts….and couldn’t hit any wedge inside 60 to save my life.

Nothing long off the tee with my longest 268 but consistently 250-260 and hitting good spots in wet conditions. Irons were filthy stuffing 2 Shots to <4’ from 170 out. Can’t beat that

One weird morning.  Played 9 and went Par, Bogey, Par, Bogey etc thru entire round for a +4.  Greens were smooth but a bit slow.   Par 4’s we’re a bit longish for Senior age group.

Not the 18 I wanted this morning, shooting an 83. Struggled around the greens and had three putts lip out and two more burn the edges. Unfortunately, that's golf. 

Good news is that I have league in an hour and a half to bounce back and shoot a great score! Feeling good and optimistic heading into it!

I'll start by saying I LOVE boring golf...

I played mostly boring golf. 6 pars, 3 bogies for a 39. More importantly, I had a bogey on 15, which has been my nemesis this year (averaging 6.2 this season). I really feel like it was a par - I cold topped my drive just past the front tees and scrambled from there.

The only other excitement was 17 (par 3) - pulled my tee shot into some trees, had to keep second low, bash it into a bank and hope for a lucky bounce. Worked out perfectly leaving a 3-footer for par, which I made.

... I hear people talk about boring golf and I have to wonder if they have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. In all my years playing the game those days were I hit almost every fairway and every green producing par after par, with an occasional birdie thrown in I have never, ever been bored.

Don't get me wrong, it's really fun. I equate boring to stress-free.

I must've done something to upset the golf gods lately because goodness gracious. You know when very little bounce seems to go the wrong way? Yeah, that was me today. I played a total of 27 holes and I lipped out 5 putts, burned 2 edges, hit 9 punch shots due to a tree being in my way, and only had one birdie. 3 of the 5 lip outs were for birdie. 

For league, I was +1 thru 6 holes and proceeded to end bogey bogey bogey to shoot a not so good 40. Frustrated, but I plan to pray to the golf gods hard tonight because I have another 18 holes to play tomorrow.

League Night!!I. I played meh and lost 5-4.  I started bogey, bogey with the 2nd being a 3 putt.  Then i left a 5' birdie putt a half roll short.  I felt worse about missing the 5'er than the 3 putt.  I played 2 under the rest of the way to end up even par.  I had 2 putts lip out in that stretch.  I felt i left about 3 shots out there as the longest birdie putt i had in the last 7 holes was about 15'.  The approach shots had very good direction and yardages fell on good numbers, i was never between clubs.

edit to add...I uploaded my shotscope data this morning and went through the edits, I came up with 8/9 GIR for the night.  I gained about 2.5 strokes on approach and lost about 3 on putting.

9 holes after work where I didn't keep score but hit a couple of greens in regulation.

Was pulling my driver left, lasers going left like my alignment was wrong, when I usually struggle to control my fade so that was pretty annoying. Hit 5-iron off the tee a couple of times and smoked it both times, but did pull one a little bit to the left. Approaches were pretty OK, getting the ball up really well but, as always, struggling to keep it straight. Putting wasn't good, but it wasn't terrible, it just kind of was. 

Been working on a flop shot and couldn't hit it when I was warming up and didn't hit it the one time I tried today. Blecch. 

Despite all of that I felt like I was striking the ball better and slowing down my swing a bit is the right move.

Played Rawiga Golf Club in Seville with @DiscipleofPenick yesterday turning in an 43/45 88 at about 6300 yards.

My new swing is coming around with the driver as I hit 50% FIR. My wedges aren't going as far though, so I was leaving shots short. I'll be doing a session on the sim today so I'll be checking that out.

Agreed. My opponent last night tried to give me a 4 footer - I think he was starting to get a little exasperated that I kept knocking chips close. I refused to take it, but made it anyway.

Confused. Were you playing match play?  Can’t refuse a conceded putt  in match play per USGA rules,

Oof.  Bit of a rough round.  I had two holes that just utterly ass blasted me.  Topped a drive on the first hole.  I should have taken an unplayable (I was IN the tree line couldnt swing really).  But no.  I am dumb thinking (I can totally get out of this)...

Ended up with a 9 on the par 5 (ow).  Dont be the hero... im not good enough to do that.

Another one was just a nasty downhill lie with ball below my feet.  I just failed to hit the ball well and chunked it maybe 40yds.  Eh that happens not upset there, was a difficult shot for sure.  Whats the move there?  A really lofted shorter club and just take my medicine?  I tried using a 5i which didnt work well at all and its not for lack of me being able to hit it.  Had a situation where I was really close to a tree so could only hit a not full follow through shot with it and sent that thing like 180yds.  Better execution on the latter than the former for sure.  Much flatter lie though.

The super killer this round though was putting.  OOOOOOFFFFFAAAA.  I could not two putt to save my life yesterday.  So so so many tap in third putts.

Six of them actually.  I dropped 6 strokes on JUST putts.

Would have turned my 49 into a respectable 43.  I bogey those two disaster holes instead and Probably woulda been in the high 30's.

Darn.  So many missed opportunities this round.

TLDR: Compounding mistakes and putting like a dipshit cost me.

My streak of rounds in the 30's was snapped last night.  I knew it was going to be a tough night as we were on the back and I was on 4 hours of sleep.  I actually played fine other than my iron ballstriking was just awful.  I managed a 41 which is not terrible for me on the back, but it was still disappointing.

Played the home course from the Blues to see it from a Tournament in a couple weeks. 45 on the front and 44 on the back. Driver kept finding trees, but were kind enough to keep me in play. Only went OB once. Trying to slow down my mind, and made sure to lay up instead of hero shot. Been consistently in the high 80s which is progress, but if I can keep patient I know I can lower that score.

League play was disappointing to say the least. That muscle pull in my back is not healing very fast. I need to put the sticks down for another week, and try next Tuesday leagues. I'm supposed to be the A player and my son beat me by 6, hahaha, he shot 37, I shot 43. I'm proud of him, he's playing great.

Shot 42 this morning with 2 triple bogeys and 2 birdies. I birdied the long uphill par 5 that I tell everyone just give me a 6 and I won't even play the hole, they just laugh at me.

Not a terrible afternoon for me yesterday with a 45/43, 88. Negatives were the three doubles and the not-so-great 33 putts. Positives were no three putts, 7 fairways, 3 greens, 5 pars and another round in the 80s which is my number 1 goal for the season.

Off the tee was decent but approaches cost me. It was either right or short several times.

Really Starting to fall into a short game slump and after last night im going to take a break from playing and just practice i dont know what happend but i now have a little tik in my putting and chipping stroke that i feel like if it isnt gimmie its not going in

36/41 at Cimmaron today in men's league play. It was a Stableford format and I ended T4 for my flight with 3 natural birdies but no skins .  Had some great approach shots of perfect distance but pulled a bit left.  Need to start aiming out right a whisker.  It was nice to see my recent birdie drought end... but I hope it's not as fleeting as our Monsoon season (which has barely happened).  Oh well, really happy to be seeing another final score starting with a 7 .

On vacation and visiting my dad in Idaho.  Went out on the course my dad helped build.   Nice little rural 3250 yard 9 hole course that's in great shape this year.   I forgot how tough it can be.  Mostly owing to the tiny little heavily sloped greens.    Started rough for the first 5 at +5 then pulled it back with a birdie on six followed by finishing with par to close out the 9.    40 total.   Going to give it another run tomorrow morning with some high school buddies I haven't seen in 20 years. (that may turn into more of a "lots if beverages" round  )
