Really thinking about getting a 51 and 57 degree Edison wedge ... (as if new wedges will cure my wedge woes...lol).

My 49º works OK on our firm turf, but I'm not so sure that it would be the best choice if you are battling soft, wet turf... but that's just me.

Anyone gaming the SM9's? I'm in the market to replace my wedges.  I am considering the Vokey 8's or 9's, Cleveland RTX, or maybe TM MG3.  As you can see from my bag below, my wedges have some age on them.  They have been trusted friends though, it will be difficult to part with them.

  • Titleist TSR3 9* (A2 setting) Driver - Graphite Design Tour AD UB-5 R1
  • Titleist TSR2+ 3 Wood - Graphite Design Tour AD UB-5 R1
  • Srixon ZX 5W
  • Callaway Paradym 4-PW
  • Titleist Vokey SM9 50-08, 54-10 & 58-08

just an FYI. I play the 8's and went to replace them with 8's again just as the 9's were announced. After about a month of waiting I was told they didn't have enough 8's left and didn't know when they would be able to get them to me. I switched to the 9's but still waiting for them to arrive.

hmmm.  That doesn't sound good for a guy who has little patience... like me.  How long ago did you order, and from whom?  That "might" drive my decision... but it is hard not to pay attention to the Vokeys being the #1 played wedge in both pro and ams... or if not "the" "one of the 2".  Thanks for the insight Zipr.

Maybe amusing for some, but all the talk about the LTDx and LS model has me putting my OG LTD in the bag for my sim session today.

🙂

In other news, I'm going lighter with my preferred swingweight sliding scale, I've dropped the Mizunos with Recoil Proto 125 to D1+, from the D5 I played them at last season.  Assorted testing with various weight shafts has me going down this path.

one of the worst ideas i have ever had, Iomic grips in white. love the grips, but my idea to purchase white was bad. shows dirt like no other. either i have to put up with the dirtiness, clean them after every round, or buy some new iomic grips in a different color

Yup, I have a while iomic grip on one of my putters also and it can look a bit shabby but I’m used to it.
I also have a white leather stitchback and that’s looks terrible!!

Nice I hit mine twice more today, one off a shorter par 4 tee and put it right down the middle with a nice high flight.  The other from about 260 out on a par 5......no I didn't reach it 🙂    But had a managable 75 yard wedge shot.

I had the sim2 just to mess around with the ust helium shaft in it. I had that in the m2.  I like it the sim2 version but traded it in to tinker with the tsi2 driver.

16.5° heads are my go to in woods. I’ll go  17-17* as well depending on the brand. Gives me best of both worlds. Higher loft makes it easier to hit and the extra length in 3hl adds some distance, I’ll usually add 1/4-1/2” if I have a 16.5 too depending on my mood

I finally decided to schedule a full bag fitting at Club Champion for next week. I was going to wait until later in the year, but I keep eyeing things and figured I should go get fit. I'll be working with the same fitter who fit me for my old Spider Tour in 2018 and the Epic Flash I reviewed on here in 2019.

In no particular order of interest:

  • Irons, specifically slightly smaller more players-style irons. Mizuno 223, TaylorMade P770, Hogan PTx Pro, Cobra MIM Tour, Callaway Apex Pro, for example.
  • Graphite iron shafts.
  • Driver shafts. Not that I'm keen to move on from the AutoFlex but I've really just never hit a lot.

Just going to try to enjoy my time.

Enjoy the process!  Although, I’ll be the first to bet you end up in the same MMTs you’re gaming now.  Those are GREAT shafts.

Want new irons to mess with at least for part of the year. Just can’t decide what I want to buy.

zx7 lots of reasons

921 forged loved them in my demo day fitting last fall

sub70 699 pro because heard lots of good things about the brand and clubs

ben hogan ptx pro havent hit anything from them since 2016 and really like the releases that year

I59 since I’m just looking to tinker

you guys are not helping me.  I really need to get my hands on one of these to try.

Either of you tried the SIM or SIM2 version?  Any notable differences?

I had the SiM2 Ti for a bit.   When I hit it solid, it went a mile.  But also too low of spin for me, couldn't get the height I needed for a FW.

... Maybe you could just reference the clubs you didn't own as I am sure that list would be shorter and it would be easier for us to keep track.  😇
