2018 Official Forum Member Review - Hogan Equalizer Wedges

Recommended Posts

Great Stage 1s so far guys! I'll be interested in seeing how distance control is, along with forgiveness - do these wedges give you confidence to take full swings with them?

Great question- as far as confidence, oh YES- a big, mighty YES...  Distance- I spent last Friday with Trakman, awaiting my club pro to send over the results, but consistent and the exact distances I expected and am very happy with.... more when I finish Stage 2~~!!

The one thing I'm the most curious about these wedges is how good are they at getting through the rough.  That was the reason I chose the Ping Glide 2.0 wedges.

Good question- our rough, well, normally by this time they have done a crosscut and it is thinned out and relatively playable- however... we have had some significant rain over the past few weeks- and not much time to dry out- in fact, a town nearby was totally flooded out (Ellicott City, MD)Ellicott-City-flood-Max-Robinson-via-Twitter-780x520.jpg

so our rough has been growing and growing.  I really like the way the wedges cut thru the rough but dont get bogged down.  I like the feel and responsiveness they offer, and I know when I hit it well it is going to land where i want...

Do all of you feel like you can be inventive with these wedges? Do you feel like you can lay the lob wedge wide open and float one on to the green?

Oh yea I have that confidence with a wedge any time but after hitting some practice shots with them I have no issue opening up the blade I actually enjoy it sometimes I just don't have the option when playing to do so

Living less than a mile from that road, we're very fortunate we are on higher ground.

Nice start on all the reviews.

My question is related to the sole of the clubs. Since these wedges only come in 1 bounce configuration, how does the V Sole work for shots around the green (open face, bunkers, short pitches, and chips)? Also, do you consider a digger or slider? Hope you all planning on trying these wedges on bare hardpan lies :)

I hit off of my slate sidewalks today thinking of this and I picked it pretty darn clean I would do that in a round for sure. She suffered a little scuff that's it.1528499767650.jpeg

You asked and I'm ballsy enough to try lol. I did hit some nice shots off of hard dirt with the ball off my back foot I did not try to go high with it. I have the confidence to do a flop shot from short grass but dirt is where I draw the line lol.

V sole clubs seem to be the real deal on all clubs.

I like it works well with my full swing and my chip so far. Gonna do some comparisons this weekend.

These wedges work well from all conditions I must say first round was marginal but the more you hit them the better you get with them. I am getting the distance control down now and very easy to flight down. I mean I shot my best round of the year today and it had a lot to do with the wedges. I placed multiple 50-80 yard shots within 5 feet which equated to an 80 on the card. First 9 was money shot a 36 deadly from wedge yardage and pitching ended up easy putts. Back to back birdies . I feel like I can hit any shot with these wedges.

The real test today is how they(really me) perform during a tournament. So far during practice they have been very good.

absolutely. The v sole works very well and gives me the confidence to open up for flops as well as low running chips when squared up.

Do you find the performance/spin comparable to other wedges you've gamed?

. Yes, better, in fact. Since using the new Equalizer wedges I find I am 1putting more, getting closer approaches and the balls tend to land “ like a butterfly with sore feet”. Should have quantitative data from my ShotScope 2.0 to back up my seemingly significant recent scores..

Great stuff so far. You've definitely helped me validate the decision to purchase a 52...which arrives tomorrow...so thank you four thus far.

I won't give too many specifics because I want to save that for my Stage 2 but my wedges are getting dialed in and I love the feel and the drop and stop. They provide the perfect amount of spin for me. I have had a couple spin back a few feet but mainly due to wet greens. In normal conditions it is a drop and stop. 20180529_160450.jpeg

I may have to try these out. As much I love the V sole on my irons these might just be the ticket. I wish I could find some wedges I really love.
