The Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide is held annually at Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio, a suburb of Columbus. The Tournament, founded and hosted by Jack Nicklaus, is conducted each year with three goals in mind: to honor the memory of individuals living and deceased who have distinguished themselves in the game of golf; to showcase the world's best golfers competing on one of the most challenging venues in the world for the enjoyment of spectators; and to benefit many Greater Columbus Charities in alliance with the Nicklaus Children's Healthcare Foundation, Nationwide Children's Hospital and numerous other local organizations. - thememorialtournament.com

That’s straight from the website. Always a great tournament, but looking through the field list this year it seems a little weak. Yes, Tiger is playing. Just some names missing that I thought would be there.

 

JT making a comeback after a wrist injury, he’s my pick.

I love this tournament. I also enjoy the marketing on the Golf Channel about the handshake with Peyton Manning narrating.

Listening to Jack Nicklaus on Morning Drive.  He is condemning the new Tour schedule and moving of the Players to March and PGA Championship to May.  He said he didn't care about the regular Tour schedule when he played.  He only cared about the majors.  Then he said the new major schedule is going to hurt the regular Tour that is the backbone of professional golf.  Which is it, Jack?  That's a pretty big contradiction.  

He also said the new major schedule will make it easier for someone to get hot and win the Grand Slam.  I can see an argument where this may be true.  Then he said "to heck with football," the Tour schedule shouldn't worry about other sports.  I disagree wholeheartedly.  Football is king in the US.  Golf will suffer going head to head with football for viewership.

Yup, Mr. Waggles has been in the mix pretty consistently of late.  I think he's sped up his pace this year... but than any minor improvement from that standard looks HUGE!  I'm once again going with Jordan Speith.

Yea, it's funny but some of these guys seem to go completely off the grid for periods of time.  Still, my boy Jordan is only 4 off the lead and playing solid, so the preferred ending is a possibility.

Jordan still can't compete on the weekend.  He's getting better, but...

Great win for Cantlay - Jack was talking about how he had given Patrick some tips on closing a tournament and how to play at Muirfield Village. Pretty cool to break through at Jack's tournament. Tiger played well today which bodes well for Pebble. Exciting stuff!
