The Good Morning Thread

Top of the pot and Happy Easter spies!   We awoke to a nice, steady rain that should clear out by 1000.  We've been getting some nice rain events here in greater Phoenix area over the past few weeks and most have dumped snow in the mountains.  Hopefully we'll continue to see the needle on the drought meter moving back the other way.

Well, I managed to hold onto the lead through round 2 yesterday. The winds came as forecasted and made it difficult.  In addition to being strong and gusty, direction was all over the place. Balls oscillated standing over them on the green, and a couple even moved. It's been some time since I had to account for wind on putts . I got off to a bit of a rocky start but fought hard to keep things from getting away.  My 4 shot lead is still at 4 which is okay all things considered (one at +3 WD).  The final round is next Wednesday at our Granite Falls South course.

Anyone experienced this? It happened on the range before the round so I played through it, but it’s sore today..

That something has been with me for years.  I have to work on stretching my low back and hips just to keep the pain low.  Seems like playing golf my be the cause… uh oh!  Probably from years working at a desk and NOT doing those stretches.  I got old… that doesn’t help.

I’m glad I’ve already been to Palm Springs.  That atmospheric river is drenching SoCal, AZ and Las Vegas. I hope next year isn’t the same. Planning our return to Phoenix area next winter.

Sounds like everyone is having a feast today; love BBQ!!  Since it’s just my wife and I, we don’t BBQ as much as we used to.  However, yesterday our next door neighbors invited us over for dinner at 3pm… Perfect!  We have a 9am tee time and we don’t have to cook!!

Good morning and Happy Easter, Spies! GF made a candy basket (along with a dyed egg) for me to take with me on the road trip this afternoon. But first it's Arsenal vs. the devil's spawn, AKA Manchester City. I'm not hugely optimistic and would be happy with a draw, much less a win.

Speaking of the Bandon courses, one of my recent book purchases was The Nature of The Game, by Mike Keiser, the force (and money) behind Bandon, Sand Valley and the Cabot courses. Very interesting look at how he came to be one of the major developers in the game. After reading that I'm a lot more interested in making the trip back to the Oregon coast (I ran a marathon once at Newport, about 120 miles north of Bandon on US 101).

My schedule on this road trip is very unsettled. Might be home tomorrow night, might be Tuesday. If it's Tuesday I'm going to try to play somewhere on the way home, maybe another trip to play The Cradle (you get the feeling I like Pinehurst?).

Good morning MGSpies and the best golf friends this side of my regular partners, Happy Easter to everyone including those who don't celebrate   Overcast chilly weather in WNY perfect for gathering with family and friends for good conversation, good food and togetherness, as we will be doing taking dishes to the big family gathering that is one of our biggest ones of the year.  Son arrived home overnight for today before he heads back for the push to his college graduation.  Daughter called last night asking if I wanted to go to Easter Vigil Mass with her at the OLV Basilica, to meet her there within the hour  always last minute with that one, but it was an amazing night in spirit. 

19 years ago was in Iraq where my understanding of everything shifted and I'm thankful and grateful for continuing to serve family and friends.  And part of the grateful is now having golf as my peaceful place shared with amazing spirits of those around me, appreciate you all  

Hope family and friends, and golf is a part of your day!

Good morning all!

Happy Easter Sunday to those observing. Nothing on the agenda for us today as we both live too far from family for any festivities. 

Looking forward to relaxing and watching some golf and basketball. Picking up a 5-wood I found on Facebook marketplace this evening that I'm pretty excited about adding to the rotation.

No golf this week for us, the weather really looks terrible, if it's not raining it's going to be too cold. Our league is supposed to start on the 15th, I'm not holding my breath. This is the first time I’ve had this type of pain. Usually my legs are sore, not my sides.

During lent egg salad sandwiches were my go to lunches on Fridays. Just deviled eggs in sandwich form.

The round today was rather chilly even though the sun was out; wind out of the north… thanks Canada!!  A mediocre 81 with two birdies and two doubles.  Greens are not back to normal yet; probably another week.  Got home and saw our Tulip Magnolia tree blooming in the sun...

It always looks beautiful, but the flowers don’t stay on the tree very long.  Sort of like buying an avocado; get one slightly green, wait a day or two, then poof… too ripe!!

Easter Sunday afternoon was in the 80s in NC with not a cloud in the sky. No golfing for me, and by the time I got to the hotel in Raleigh, all I wanted to do was watch the TCHO and/or take a nap. TCHO won this time, but I suspect I'll be turning in early. Haven't had the slightest inclination to watch March Madness this year; going for SEC baseball instead. Still don't know how long I'll be here or if I can get some golf in. Maybe a range session tomorrow with my Garmin and/or a Rypstick workout.
