Anxiety comes to us in many forms but not often enough to be secure in its presence. In our overly gray world where right and wrong, success and failure can be very opaque, the great game holds us in the black and white.For to succeed under intense pressure can bring gratification, also the knowing that it could have gone the other way in that same instant keeps us grounded. Eagles quote " I don't know why Fortune smiles on some and let's the rest go free". Play the Game.

Isn't that the truth, trying to figure out "why fortune smiles on some" I think goes back to genetics, some athletes are born with the ability to thrive under those anxious times, in my opinion these are the elite. No secret sauce just that athlete. 

I sat at the Provincial hall of fame dinner this past December and the male inductees were well deserving of the award however not even close to the resume of the National hall of famer in the crowd. 

So what made him the best, what was his superpower? I have asked many great players that went head to head with him and the answer mostly was "he was a fierce competitor" "and a real gentleman" 

Something like Jack Nicklaus I suppose.

... Nice, that song is a sad anthem for us old hippies from the 70's. As much as some like to malign the Eagles (mostly due to their ballads) I think they have penned lyrics for just about every situation in life.

While Frey said it was a social commentary on America in general and the backlash of those wanting to make the world a better place in the 70's replaced by those that hedonistically wanted it all for themselves in the 80's, it's hard not to make the connection to the excesses of LA. Morn all!

A huge storm came through out here this past week. Northern half of the country got covered in snow while the southern half was hit with a flooding rain. Temps below 20°F and will likely stay that way into next week.

I hope we don’t experience any power outages as a result, but if so, at least we’ve got solar panels on the roof— uh, oh …

On the bright side, I just signed up at the local indoor golf driving range. First session’s on Monday. Can’t wait!

Great Saturday to all. More work stuff today and tomorrow.  Wife and I will be going out tonight to try a new restaurant with some friends. And I just found out the new indoor golf sim place is 2 doors down. Wish me luck on trying to incorporate that into the evening.  Ha! (I am the only golfer in the group)

Good morning everyone!

It's a wet, dreary morning here as we had a bunch of rain come through last night. It might still be but I can't see outside without my glasses on. We have to go meet a friend later so he can show a buddy of his some property we're trying to sell. 

The pups are snoozing beside me and I have coffee in hand, it's been a good start to the morning. I am a bit sad I can't get out today to test the Mevo, but tomorrow is looking good.

Happy Saturday morning spies! Slept in for three hours this morning, that felt great. Light dusting of that white stuff on the ground outside, not so great. Might just be a little tease of what MIGHT arrive next week. I’m crossing my fingers that the potential snow misses us next week because, quite frankly, I just don’t want to move it off the driveway.

Anyways, scheduled to meet my father in law for lunch today at HuHot. Have not eaten there for several years so I’m not really sure what I’ll even get. Almost like going to a new restaurant again.

Nothing else on the agenda today, hope that everyone has a splendid day.

Slept in, and really needed it as I was starting to feel a little dragged out.

Did manage to get to a local SIM place yesterday evening and played a fun round on the Old Mac course.

Met one of my regular golf partners/friends there and all in all it was a fun evening.

Normal household things to tend to today.

Enjoying my morning cuppa. Hunkering down for a nice winter snow later today. They are calling for 4 to 7 inches of the white stuff this evening into tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed for a bit of snowshoeing tomorrow.

It looks like @GolfSpy_APH has a great build on tap. I just love BBandFCo ferrules. Looking forward to seeing the final build. Not gonna lie those ribs @Josh Parker has on the egg look great. You had me at mac n cheese.

Good Morning everyone...... and I do mean Goooood Morning!!!  I much appreciate all the well-wishes from all of you and it was nice to spend last night in my own bed.  Finally, a night with dreams; don't get those with alarms and hospital staff waking you up every hour.  

I have never had any heart issues, except taking a med for hypertension.  Doc visits for the past several years said my heart sounded fine.  The heart doc at the hospital said I had 3 arteries nearly 100% blocked.  He opened one up with two stents and I have to go back in 2 weeks for the other two, but they will be done as outpatient procedure.  I have been trying to get my wife to see a heart doc for a year (her family has heart issues; mine don't) and she finally made an appointment back in October for Jan 30.  Well, she got to meet him early yesterday!!  Same doc!!  She spent yesterday between my room and the waiting room where her girlfriend was waiting for her husband to get out of open heart surgery.  Love that woman!!

Today will be nearly 50º but windy and we have a 9:40 tee time.  I can't play until after the second procedure but the doc said I could walk the course.  It will be nice to get outside.  

Thank you all again and especially @cksurfdude for texting me about the 2024 MGS Outing... my wife and I are going!!

Good morning everyone. Got the Apple TV connected and my first round on the Rapsodo in the books. Still have some tweaks to figure out but Bandon Trails was fun. Can’t wait to get out there for real in June. Another cold day but a glimmer of hope exists to get on a practice green after lunch to get some more testing in with the Odyssey. Hope everyone has a great Saturday with plenty of golf.

Good morning all from a cold and frosty Mesa. There will be some serious whining going on at golf courses all over the Phoenix metro area (holy crap there are a lot of them) because of the heavy frost and cold temperatures frost delays will be in the two hour range at least. 

GolfSpy_APH you have the prefect Saturday project! It taxes your mind just enough to keep your cognitive resources fully engaged for several hours, and in my opinion is just plain fun.  My project for the day is to build and fit a basket between the front seat and the rear facing seat of my Evolution golf cart .  Need some place to toss a jacket, or a club head cover that has decided today it wants nothing to do with the club it is supposed to cover, or that carelessly discarded beer can on the edge of the rough.

I went over to play Bandon Dunes one January day a few years ago.  A bitter wind howling off of the Pacific and spitting a little rain greeted us as we drove into the parking lot, we teed off anyway after putting rain gear on. By the third hole a full on Pacific Northwest winter storm rolled onto the course. Horizontal rain and at times big fat wet snowflakes but we soldiered on and worked our way through all 18 holes. I cannot say much about the course other than the greens seemed huge and most of the time had rivers of water running somewhere through them. I have never been so happy to walk off an 18th green in my life as I was that day. Took me two days to get warmed up. We had to take half hour shifts driving the 4 hours back to the Bend area in central Oregon. Everyone was so worn out from the thrashing the weather gave us no one deemed it safe to drive much longer than that.  Oh yeah the topper on a truly miserable day was Santiam Pass, our route through the Cascades, and a windy mountain two lane highway was covered with 6 inches of fresh snow and getting deeper all the time. 

I never went back....

That's the only club my wife is allowing me to bring.  I lobbied for a wedge as well, but she says no.  I have a catheter in my right wrist and I'm not suppose to bend it much or put a lot of weight on it.
