The Good Morning Thread

Morning all! Bacon has been cooked and consumed, cleaned up from breakfast now off to a day of events and jungle gyms in the camp site. Fiesta themed weekend here!

Good morning, Spies!

We took our oldest daughter who just turned 21 to our Friday night haunt for the first time last evening and had a blast.  We celebrated her birthday and surprised a local widower with birthday decorations and a group party for his 70th at the same time.   We have found a wonderful little community at this remote bar and have made a ton of very diverse friends there.  It took awhile for the locals to warm up to us townies, but my wife broke them down with kindness and now we are fortunate to belong. 
 

congrats @Daniel Carrier on the Ace!

I am off to the course to join my favorite foursome. I am sure I will be back to tell more stories about the 10 yo wedgemaster later today.  This kid amazes.  And it’s another Red Rooster testing day!

Happy birthday to your daughter! It sounds like y'all had a good time celebrating it. I think it's wonderful that you also celebrated with the gentleman who just turned 70, I bet that made his birthday even better.

We got out and ate at my wife's favorite restaurant for her birthday. We went to Forbidden City Chinese buffet in Chattanooga with some friends. The food was amazing and I think I might have ate a little too much.

Before that we went down to the Barn Nursery to look for a Pink Princess houseplant, but they were out of stock so my wife and her friend are going to take a trip back down Friday to see if they get more in. I hope they do, my wife got so excited when she saw they had them and was so sad today they were out. 

It was nice getting out with friends and family to celebrate the wonderful day my wife came into this world.

GM & Happy Sunday!! Not much going on here.  Yard work and some chores, maybe some putter practice sure do need help with that!

Hit the range today, just to keep on top of practice. 100 balls then lunch got a new 3 wood (cobra King speedzone with carbon fibre shaft) blooming brilliant club, looking forward to taking it out on the course soon!

Jason and Bryan, I hope you both have a good day on the course and I'll be looking forward to your recaps. Bryan, you are starting the golf season off right by getting to put the Edel's in play. Jason, have fun today and I hope your good play from your last round carries over into today.

I might head out later to the range and work on different chipping techniques since that seemed to be my trouble spot last round. I know grocery shopping is also in my future.

Good morning made better reading post making the coffee. Looks like Edel thread is going to be taking off again! Looking forward to whatever golf is part of today. Already starting to prepare for next weekend and following week as work and golf with partners after work this week will shorten available hours to not forget anything.

Good morning Spies,

Second cup getting finished up. A beautiful crisp spring day here in Central NY. Put out the flag on the porch.  

SWMBO and I will take a bike ride on the Erie Canal Trail. It’s our Sunday activity thing. She went on a training ride yesterday. She’s competing in an Auquabike race. Biking and swimming are her things. I like golf and its equipment. She likes bikes. Instead of thinking about shafts and such her component tweaks are gears.

Top of the pot spies . We were awakened this morning by a male quail either really late to the spring dance or celebrating his spring dance .  The temps have cooled and we like leaving the windows open for the cool fresh air.  Oh well, natures alarm clock is still way better than any electronic one.  So I saw the spine specialist on Friday and came away with nothing.  Need to have an x-ray done which he's all but certain will tell us nothing but will allow him to order an MRI (insurance protocol) which he doubts will show anything...oh, great . 

He suspects a torn muscle/tendon/ligament but they are difficult to see unless immediately done after the event.  He also said these type injuries can take months to repair.  I asked if I should stop playing golf and he said no but just let your body tell you limits.  He asked if I'd seen a Chiropractor (I never have) and recommended one.  I've heard all kinds of stories about Dr. Crunches and not sure what to do about this option.

I was chatting with my next door neighbor about the saga and he said "eff-it", lets go to the range and hit balls.  So we did.  I hit 9i and 6i and the back felt fine. I then hit about 10 drives and it started aching again. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm subconsciously compensating my swing mechanics as the sticks get longer?

Disclaimer: I'm not a doctor and I don't play one on TV!

Imho as the clubs get longer we do .. subconsciously or maybe consciously .. try a little harder to swing a little faster through a fuller range of motion - vs wedges, short irons - the result being definitely more work (literally, as in force applied over a distance) that your muscles and joints are doing.....

I have a similar thing in my middle-right side back from two-three seasons ago - def a muscle strain or tear that I never let fully heal after it happened, so it can still flare up on me.

Chiropractor can help .. *if* you can get a good one who understands sports biomechanics and kinematics and can work on your particular problem vs just doing his "routine" adjustments. 

Somewhere else on the forum someone mentioned something I haven't heard of before - RFA or radio frequency ablation. Maybe research what that is?

Interesting, 2 guys on my street have recently come up with sore ribs from playing golf.  They are both the youngest  and do swing hard.  One of the guys it seems it’s a significant injury.

Ok, I can speak to this as one who has had both hips replaced and the micro disc surgery on my back - definitely find a good chiropractor to see if that helps, and make sure you do plenty of stretching and hot/colt therapy after you play.  I will still get some muscle tightness in my back and hips, but the stretching and hot/cold work (plus a few Tylenol from time to time) takes care of it.  Take care of it, because the back surgery will put you down for 6 months to fully heal.

GO TO THE CHIROPRACTOR a lot of insurance's cover chiro now. Here's the catch. You will need to go twice a week for about a month or two. It is worth it. It takes time. Your body needs to be in alignment for it to work as it should. I have changed Chiros twice. One I just didn't like. One didn't take my insurance and now I am pretty happy with my chiro. 

I go about once a month for maintenance normally. recently been going more as my back has tighten up.

The answer is YES, I am in the same boat and been having weird swings and that's when the swing thoughts go all haywire and we think we need to change clubs, shafts, shoe laces anything to make it better.
