Welcome back from vacation spies! So, I am back after eight days and I played this round back working on the basics. Basically after the third hole it was posture and chest up. What a difference! The rest of the day was one of the best ball striking ever! I had one bogey today and missed a ton of putts. However, 69 is always a good score! Still loving the Callaway Paradym irons and TD driver!! Hit 16 greens and only missed 2 fairways.

2 birdies on the card today. Good birdies too. 

Started off 5 over through 5 and made 3 doubles today. Had 2 doubles on the back which were caused by tee shots into hazards. 

That being said I did figure a lot out with driver and found a real groove. The ones that went out we're caused due to fatigue as it was getting hot! 

Finished strong with 3 straight pars.

Played in the rain. Had the course to myself. Started on the 10th hole for the first time ever on that course.

I knew that it wouldn’t count toward my GHIN because I was solo so I played from the tips. No a bad round overall, but I did blow up on one of the easier par 5s where I shot 10 (only 1 penalty stroke in the process, yikes) and 3-putted on 3 consecutive holes due to sand being on the ball/putter face (I now understand Brooks Koepka’s obsessive routine of swiping his putter’s face before addressing his putts).

Week 3 of Cobra Challenge - Irons Only!

My bag consisted of 5I - PW (plus putter), so it was definitely a challenge to move down the course (~6100 yards total).  

While not my best work, I had a blast - trying to figure out where to place the ball made me think a bit more, so it was a nice change of pace.

39-46. lost my mojo on the 9th.  Was 1 over after 8 and tripled the 9th a par 5 and that was a 1 putt green. No penalty shots, just lame golf on my part.   Completely lost my concentration thereafter.  Made 1 par on the back.  I did however drive it pin high on the 6th with a helping wind with a Kirkland  V3 ball.  I also played my first round with the Garsen Ultimate grip on my Ping blade.  30 putts.

Today was 10 shots higher, ouch! Heavy winds and high temps. I was overthinking the wind and made bad decisions. I birdied every par 5, but offset that with 4 doubles. Normally don’t make that many doubles in a week! Thursday will be another day!!

Played a relatively short course today that just happened to be timed up perfect for the Cobra Iron Only Challenge. Long drive today was with a 3i with the wind and totally crushed it (also had a tailwind so that helped). Won’t win any awards with 275 but damn it felt good. 2 gross birdies, 3 net birdies and a net Eagle offset a few bogies they were the result of hitting longer shots than normal playing an iron only round. Gonna play again tomorrow but bringing the woods out for that one.

First time on this course. As usual they are challenging.  Also dealing with an eye infection - ointment in eye and no contact in one sure does something to depth perception and lining up a putt with one eye shut.  Overall not that bad though.

Short course at the beach. Had a solid round other then 2 holes. Have found recently the blow up holes are really getting me in a lot of trouble. All started off the tee this time and was followed by an attempt at a hero shot. Could have saved 2 strokes at least in both instances.

Finally have found the driver swing. I've played fairly well this year but the driver just hasn't been working. After a month or so of rebuilding the driver swing and confidence, I forgot just how much fun golf is when you aren't afraid to pull driver. Long drive number is definitely boosted by catching a speed slot on a firm course. 

 

Jekyll and hyde round on the green, six 1-putts and eight(!) 3-putts. Can't say I've ever experienced a round with that many of either. That many 1-putts and my putts per hole average was still 2.1, I suppose that is quite the feat, just not the the good kind .

I had a very fun round. The weather was beautiful here in NY and the course was suprisingly dry for the amount of rain we had recently. I almost put my approach shot in from 170 on hole 4, it was 3 inches from the cup for the tap in birdie. This course has a bunch of recovery areas for errant tee shots, but also has some holes with big trouble as well. There was a good mix.
