How'd you play?

Shot a career round yesterday arvo.....66.  It was a short 6100yd par 70, where I will be qualifying for the city tourney in a few weeks.  Could have been much better, but my 120-150 game was pretty pathetic.  When you drive it on or within 10yds of six par 4s, the game gets quite a bit easier.

I've been playing striking the ball very well lately, in the last 2 weeks I have recorded 77,79,81,79. My hcp index is down to 6.7. Biggest reason is I have been putting much better lately. The last 79 should have been much better, I shot bogey, bogey, double, to start the back nine, added another double on 15, which is also the easiest hole in the course, birdie on 18, and managed to post 41 on the back after posting 38 on the front.

Great round J Bones! 66 is my career round, here's guessing we obtained our scores in very different ways. Mine was a competitive round so at least I have that going for me.

Humm...I shot a 68 today on a 6500 par 72.  My driver was acting up only hit 7/14 fairways, but 19 putts and two chip ins make up for a faulty long game.  Maybe we should get together and have a match.

 

In truth though if we got together and I shot a 68 and you shot a 66 I don't think I would mind buying the beer.

Shot 85 on my home course. Two big scores were a killer, a triple and two doubles. Really comes down to my putting which I wasn't exactly thrilled with. I didn't 3 putt so much as miss every ten footer for par and birdie.  Either way was actually hitting the ball ok.

Didn't play that great today, felt like I was striking the ball well but short game went to hell. 12 greens in reg, 2.1 putts per green in reg and 2.1 putts per hole

On vacation visiting my Sister's family in Lexington, KY.

 

Have set up around for Monday at Kearney Hill GC. It's only one mile from her house on the North side of Lex. The course was the site for a Sr PGA tournament for 8 years in the 1990's. The course is now a Muni(city of Lexington) and can be played as a senior on weekdays for $31. I am playing on Monday with one of my High School buddies. Really looking forward to it.

After a week plus away from the game I got out yesterday morning. Drove it well, hit the irons we'll and could not buy a putt. Ended with 73 after two over on the front and one under on the back. With how well I hit it the round could have easily been 68 if a few putts fell.

Shot 86 with my dad. He's still struggling to break the 100 barrier but did eagle today. That was kind of awesome because none of us saw it go in and I found it in the hole.

 

What's interesting about this round is I rattled off 5 straight pars to finish out and didn't birdie once. Seems most of my looks are in the 15-25 foot range and I'm getting close, but not finishing the birdie and settle for the tap in par. Well, at least until this round, when I had 3 3 putts. Yikes.

Thanks rev, seems I've been stuck at the 78 zone for a while, but I just couldn't miss that day. but I'll probably be back at the 78's next time. But it was a great day while it lasted for sure!

Played wed, thurs, fri, sat this week.  I didn't score well in any of the rounds, but wed and thurs rounds I completely forgot how to swing a golf club.  Felt great over the ball but everything was topped or a huge banana fade.  Fri & Sat rounds I started striking the ball well again, didn't make putts and chipping was a mess, but at least I was hitting the ball in the vicinity of where I wanted it to go.

 

2 weeks ago I shot 77 with an even par front side and this week I'm happy to not break 90.

74 and 72 this weekend. Had a great weekend striking the ball. Chipping is coming around as well. I finally felt comfortable over the putter for the first time in a month which lead to only one 3 putt all weekend. Best part about it is that I decided to play in the weekly money game when I shot the 72 and I'm not sure I'm going to be invited back. : p

Just finished playing a Pete Dye designed course in Lexington, KY....Kearney Hills....it is a Links course with many bunkers and huge rolling greens. I shot a 90 with one Birdie and my high school friend shot a 100.....the course from the white Tees was 6,375 yards. A lot of wind.......very few trees. I give it a top rating for a muni. Cost was only $31 for weekday seniors. This course was the home for many Senior PGA events in the 1990's.

 

Will def play it again......Tomorrow we tackle the Wildcat course at U of KY. I can't wait.....Go Big Blue!

Today I was tackled by the Wildcat track at the U Club (U of KY). The layout was simply awesome.....much elevation changes, pot bunkers, bunkers, very thick rough and wind. We played the White Tees at 5,875 yards. Although I shot a 92 losing a only 2 balls, I felt that I did not strike the ball well today.

 

I also saw that JB Holmes has his own parking space at the U Club.......Awesome!

I shot 78. Hit 12 fairways and 10 greens so I'm starting to hit it much better. I was done in by 2 penalty strokes and a very average 34 putts. The good news was this was a competitive round so my swing really started to hold under a little bit of pressure. I made 4 bad swings but lots of really good ones. Just think if I had Rick's 19 putt round I would have shot 64.

Well, I played in an outing today with some buddies from from  work. Between all the beer you could possibly want and an almost "fluke" kind of day, we managed to shoot EVEN! We could have thrown $50 bills on the greens and we couldn't buy a birdie! At any rate, it was a great day and a lot of fun!

Back at my home course for the Saturday game.......shot a 41/48=89

 

The real issue was I started the day with Vertigo......I could not get my balance and felt nautilus. I got dizzy when I bent over to put the tee in the ground and when I reached to retrieve the ball from the hole. So I just tried to swing easy.

 

Still do not know where the Vertigo came from as I have never experienced it before.

Yesterday I shot a 69 (-2) at Quail Crossing Golf Club in Booneville, IN; 12/14 FWs, 12/18 GIRs, and 28 putts. The round was highlighted with an eagle after hitting a 3i from 233 to 9'.

I shot an 88 today at Pebble Creek in Tampa, while dealing with symptoms of Vertigo.....

 

Anybody have any suggestions?

like donkey doo, i could not have played any worse on the front 9 today, absolutely horrid, makes me want to sell everything and just quit the game.

Saturday, I shot 74 with a double on 18.  I felt like I hit the ball really well, and I felt like I putted really well, but I hit 6 fairways, 10 greens, and 33 putts.  I guess I felt that way because I had no misses more than 10 yards off of the fairway except for 18.  

 

Today was a different story.  Somehow I got to play with 2 plus handicaps, and a scratch.  We played ALL THE WAY BACK where they never bother to put markers on.  the front is a 3700 yard par 35, and the back is a 3446 yard par 35.  It was tough.  I hit the ball long for my age group, around 265-270 yards, but It was nothing compared to the 2 plus handicaps.  One guy carried it 340 over water (with the wind).  After snap hooking my drives because I was trying to kill it on the first 4 holes, I just played my game and me and one of the plus handicaps won the match in a playoff which was an alternate shot chip off.  

 

It was awesome, but it was impossible.

Played on Saturday, and I'm just about ready to break my putter. Lost on a count back to win the comp for the day, hit 12 greens in reg, 50% of the fairways, and 38 damn putts. If had of had an average putting day for my hadicap I would have shot under par

To the guy asking about Vertigo, I've never had it so I can't offer anything. With me if I get dizzy it's because of dehydration.

 

 

My last round was the worst one of the season, a 94. Putter wasn't working and I was just all over. Worst part was hit 5 bunkers in 3 out of the last 4 holes.
