It was a little different configuration of holes than I expected to play (like you, I planned to play 18 yesterday morning but we had frost delay for second day in a row so I just went home), but my brother-in-law got stuck with no playing partner at the last minute so I ended up playing two days in a row with him. It's nice to have a playing partner! Friday and Saturday nights were awesome because I got to walk a twilight nine - perks of a membership - I showed up around 7:30 each night and was the last car in the parking lot both nights. Really relaxing (and I have some more GoPro footage to cut together!). I got eaten up by a few sand traps today and yesterday. And when my putter goes cold I can get some gnarly looking cards going quickly: Last car out is pretty cool once in a while. Definitely sounds like a relaxing time. 2 hours ago, B.Boston said: Excuse me... did you say “Frost” delay?! It’s practically June!!! Pretty crazy but we had a frost delay here Saturday morning too. Wouldn’t let anyone on until around 7:30 which backed it up quite a bit considering that a couple of us are usually teeing off around 6. cksurfdude, GolfSpy BOS, edingc and 2 others 5 Quote TSi3 10° w/ Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Black 65g TS2 15° 3W w/ Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black 6.0 70g 818 H1 21° Hybrid w/ Mitsubishi Tensei CK Blue 70g MP-18 MMC 2 iron w/ KBS Tour C-Taper S 120g JPX 921 HM 5-GW w/ Project X LZ 5.5 115g JB Forged 54° & 58° w/ Project X LZ 6.0 120g EV5.3 Black

Some bad chipping on the front kept me from going low. No 3 putts or doubles. Like my pro said just calm my mind and focus on the shot. Trending back in the right direction. Also wanted to mention I played Sunday too and found a Snell MTBX on the first hole. I played all 36 holes with one ball as I'd been wanting to try these dice the ball lab. I liked it, firmer than my Z-Star gamer, but not clicky like other X balls. Also a + for durability. Popular Post sirchunksalot
I want to start out by thanking @Tom the Golf Nut for reaching out to me a while back and arranging a chance for us to meet up and play a little golf while we were at it. It was a great time and a round I'll remember for a long time. We played at Dead Horse Lake in Knoxville, which was a beautiful course with diabolical greens. I can honestly say, I've never had a putt roll at least halfway back to me. The first couple of holes were eye openers and really had me questioning my ability to putt the ball. I should have known on the practice green when I hit a downhill putt and had it roll 20 feet past the hole, it was going to be a fun day on the greens. I'll admit, Arccos had me scoring at a 94 that was probably a 105 because I have penalties galore that I need to add in. A lot of balls were sacrificed for the greater good. I can say I had one of the better ball striking days I've had in a while, and while my score didn't reflect it, I came of the course feeling good about my game. The highlight hole was the par 4 3rd that requires a layup unless you can carry 260 *cough, @Chip Strokes, cough*. I am not going to say I played it well, but I had fun playing it after a layup after losing one. Tom and I found quite a few balls and for fun, decided to try to make it over. We both splashed down right at the edge. Speaking of Tom, I can say I have never played with a more consistent golfer. His drives were in the fairway, his irons were crisp, and his short game was spot on. I watched in awe as he played what people have told him is "boring golf". I was just fascinated at his consistency. It was a clinic. My actual shot of the day came on 15, after a good drive, a decent 5 iron, and a wedge that went to a place that required a drop, I chipped one in from 28 yards. It was fun getting to meet a fellow member and get a round in and I want to say thank you again for the goody box that was filled with balls, a golf ball cleaner, and a tee pouch. There were no sand traps, but I feel like the greens did a very good job of protecting themselves. It was honestly one of, if not the, nicest courses I've ever played. Popular Post ncwoz
My brother in law and I got to play The South Course at Arcadia Bluffs yesterday, one of the premier public courses in Michigan. They built it a couple years ago, to compliment The Bluffs course which is one of the most popular can't miss tracks in the state. The South Course is a true links course, which was new to us haha. Very open and flat, only 1 or 2 trees on the entire course. Tons of bunkers and reeeeally hard greens. If you're approach was from the rough or was any club longer than a gap wedge, you needed at least a club less because of the runout. The design was loosely inspired by the Chicago Golf Club, with very linear greens, bunkering and fairways. It was absolutely gorgeous, and I would highly recommend anyone playing it. Such a unique design and experience. Here's the 12th hole par 3, one of the few holes with significant elevation change. It's a huge horse shoe green with a bunker in the front. I actually played pretty solid. Best driving day I've had, and probably best out of the sand I've ever played too. I think I ended up with 4 up & downs from the sand. On the front I was able to stay out of the pot bunkers and tricky spots, and found my way into a few more on the back, so ended up with a 41/45:86. Left a couple strokes out there but it was the kind of day where we were trying to just enjoy a treat of a course and not get too upset by our scores. Such a great experience! Popular Post StrokerAce
oh what could've been.... Shot a 78 and 50% of those strokes were putts. Ordered a new putter from eBay that night. No joke. Target golf... short par 3 but you have to hit the green. Almost made it... my ball mark was about 3 feet from the pin and 6 inches to the right This PW was my favorite shot of the day. Drive went into the left rough and I had to hit a draw around the trees to a tucked left pin and landed it about 15 feet left of the pin. (I don't mark pins in Arccos so the pin location is wrong) M. Our course is great on Sunday afternoon and holiday afternoons like yesterday - when most of the trunk slammers (aka weekenders/weekend residents) leave for home. Wife and I played the front and just breezed through although #1 Par 4 was a double along with #6 a Par3. On the other hand I parred both 5's included #7 which is the #1 handicap hole. I attribute the double on #1 to no warm up since our driving range was packed. Ended up with a 42. Popular Post Rickp
Exec 9 this morning, played really bad, +7 with 1 lost ProV1x. Had a moment of silence for the ball, it gave its all but I let it down. Putting was terrible, had many chance to save Par but kept missing the line. Tomorrow a tough (for LH) 9. Popular Post BMart519
39 (+4) on a local muni, finished birdie-birdie on a par 3 and 5. The eagle putt on the par 5 9th hole finished 1" left of the cup after sticking an 8 iron to 18' from 160 out after my drive of the day (290 into a slight headwind). Lipped out another birdie from 4' after almost dunking a PW for an ace on a par 3. Took a triple on the second hole after hitting my 2H too good through the fairway approx 240 with no draw and then shanking a GW into water for a triple bogey. 6/9 GIR, 50% FIR, 16 putts (1x 3 putt) Edited June 2, 2021 by BMart519 cksurfdude, BKordon, CarlH and 11 others 14 Quote G425 MAX Driver & 5W Baffler Rail-H 3H-4H 699 Pro Utility V2 - 4i APEX CF19 6-AW INDI Wedges 52, 56, 60 EAS 2.
Popular Post revkev
Played a really fun format mix of shamble/wolf. Best drive got to pick his partner and the two teams squared off from there - I was the points leader going into 18 but did loose a press that hurt a bit. Popular Post PMookie
I drove back to New Orleans for work so I played TPC of Louisiana getting the “after 3pm resident rate” of $59. I played from today’s “tips”, Black tees, which can play longer for the pros, so 6900 yards. The best part of my game was my putting, making a few over 20 feet, and having the fewest putts in a round in awhile, 29! 85 (41/44). The last pic shows the shaved areas around the greens, and the elevated greens, that were discussed during the tournament. Popular Post MaxEntropy
I got out and played Monday, but it was a SLOOOW round. My friend had to bail after 15 because he had a commitment. Had I been playing well, I may have found a way to finish, but I was 16 over after 15, so I packed it in too. I had a bad case of the "pulls" that took me entirely too long to get rid of and I'm still not sure what I was doing. Fortunately, pulling the ball it did not carry over into league last night. I ended up with another 39 (+4) with 4 bogies and 5 pars. I wasn't super sharp off the tee so there was a lot of scrambling to shoot that. If putting had been even a little better, it could have been really good - I lipped out two birdies and missed a relatively straightforward 6 footer for par. Out of curiosity, I looked up my stats on our league course just to see how different things are for me between the two 9's. As far back as Arccos goes, I am 4 strokes better on the front than the back. This season, it is a 5.9 stroke difference (I've been better on the front so far this year). When I look at the back 9, I don't see it as that much more difficult, but I sure do suck when we play that 9. Popular Post PMookie
During the Zurich, the TV commentators talked about the tight lies around the elevated greens, but it was hard to tell what the players were seeing, so yesterday I took some pics to let y’all see up-close what they were talking about. It’s common in parts of Louisiana to have elevated greens due to the topography being generally flat, so the greens get elevated to prevent issue when we have heavy rains since there wouldn’t be great natural drainage. To make things tough on a course, shaving down bermuda makes chipping difficult due to the grain. All pics are of shaved areas and up-close showing how tight the bermuda is, and its grain except for the last one. The last pic is a close-up of the grain of bermuda on the green. Some may not have ever played on this type of grass, so I thought it would help them see why it’s a tough grass to play on.
