Popular Post Josh Ross
Played some great golf today but was playing a couple balls per hole due to being behind a foursome and the course being stacked up. Discovered today that I can play a very easy to hit fade with amazing consistency but the MTB-X is spinning like crazy off my short irons and wedges and just falling out of the sky. During my round I discovered it before an easy hole, a par 3 that plays 147 yards. I usually hit a smooth 9 iron into a green that is small, elevated, and slopes back to front. If I hit a PW it usually spins off the front. Well today I couldn't even get an 8 iron there, the ball would spin so much and looked like a wedge shot because of how high it went. Went back to my normal swing and had the distance I usually do. I wonder how much changing to the MTB Black or something similar would increase my distance with the other swing? cksurfdude, GolfSpy BOS, Nunfa0 and 9 others 12 Quote In my Lux XV Cart Bag: Driver: RADSPEED XB PTC 10.5° Fujikura Speeder Evolution 661 VII Stiff Utility: Apex UW 17° and 19° Project X HZRDUS Smoke Black RDX 70 6.0 4 Hybrid: KING LTDx 21° KBS PGI 85 Stiff Irons: ZX5/ZX7 Project X LZ 6.0 Wedges: 2.0 49°, 53°, 57° Project X LZ 6.0 Putter: L.A.B. Popular Post GolfSpy BOS
Played an afternoon round after the boys both had baseball yesterday. Jackson played all but one of the 18 holes and had a great time. He got his first “birdie” on the first hole which is is a par 5. I set him up around 120 yards out and he was on in 2 and 2 putted! it was a rather uninspiring round for me, but I was not as focused as I should have been. The rest of our group got to the course at 1:41 for a 1:44 tee time… so I felt like we were scrambling to catch up and not hold groups up wanting Jackson to have a good experience too. That led to a lot of iffy short game shots and even 3-3 putts, which is rare for me. The greens were slow and sort of bumpy, but I think it was more a lack of focus. it wasn’t all bad though, the work at the driving range has helped with the driver. With the driver I was hitting the ball Right to left consistently to the point that I only had one ball left out to the right (a straight push out to the right) and of the 9 times I used it 6 were over average and two I would classify as poor strikes. The last was a good swing, toe strike that held its line and still went 250+. I might take another trip to the range this week and do some more tweaks and practice. I feel like I had an “aha!” Moment this year with my grip and shot shapes. For me, as a lefty who golfs righty, it seems going stronger/weaker with my lead (left) hand is much more impactful on my swing. Not sure why I didn’t think of that before, but it seems to be working. Also, the Speedzone hybrid is officially on notice… so the three times I used it yesterday were absolute bombs. Two off the tee dead nuts center, one recovery on a par 5 from 220 that just rolled off the green about pin high. tony@CIC, CarlH, MaxEntropy and 8 others 11 Quote Epic Max LS 10.5 - Motore X F3 6X | Speedzone 5-wood - Ventus Blue 8S | TSi3 20* Hybrid - KBS Proto 85S SMS Pro 4-PW - Steelfiber i110S | MG3 Raw Black 50.09, 54.11, 58.11 - DG TI S200 ER2B | Pro V1x | NX9 Slope | Jones Trouper R | CaddyLite EZ v8
Popular Post edingc
- 40/41 = 81 (+9) - 6/15 FIR - 11/18 GIR (2 birdies) - 34 Putts (4 3-putts, 8 2-putts, 6 1-putts) OK round overall. Had one awful tee shot that cost me two penalty strokes. Too many three-putts. We got a lot of rain yesterday and the greens were soaked and bumpy. I had a lot of trouble gauging distances, especially since I couldn't get the ball to roll very nicely. Still, if an 81 in my upper ceiling when I don't play particularly well, I'll take it! Rogue White was definitely feeling better than the AutoFlex did my last time out. Didn't drive the ball well overall, but I hit a few range balls at the end of the round and still am liking the Rogue White right now. Definitely feels like I can go a little harder at it and not lose track of the head. tony@CIC, Kenny B, PMookie and 9 others 12 Quote Unofficial WHS Handicap: 7.5 / Anti-Cap: 13.0 (Last Updated Feb. 19, 2024) Driver: Callaway Paradym TD (10.5°, -1/N), 45.75", Fujikura Motore X F1 6X | Fitting Post 3 Wood: Cobra RadSpeed Big Tour (14.5°), 43", Fujikura Motore X F1 7X 20° Hybrid: PXG 0211 (2020 Model), 40.25", Mitsubishi Tensei AV RAW White 90X 4 Utility: Cobra KING Utility (2020 Model), 38.5", Aerotech SteelFiber i110cw Stiff 5-PW: Ben Hogan PTx Pro, 37" 7 Iron, Aerotech SteelFiber i125cw Stiff | Club Champion Fitting 50°, 54°, 58°: Edel SMS, V Grind, Nippon Modus 125 Wedge| Official Review Thread Putter: L.A.B. Popular Post Tom the Golf Nut
Drove an hour out of town to play with some co-workers. The course was in good condition but the greens were very slow. I left a lot of opportunities short. They wanted to walk and play back so I knew going in what I would be in for. Well the old man still has it in him. I was out driving two of them and keeping even with the third. Wound up five over and I was pretty pleased considering playing an almost unknown course. Played it a year ago in a scramble. The walking part wasn't to bad until I got home. Had a couple calf cramps. Popular Post cnosil
Windy day on the course today. Didn't feel like I hit the ball too badly but just couldn't score and the 10 that I took really didn't help the score; taking 6 strokes to get out of a bunker is never a good thing. Also had 4 three putts and 2 penalties on a single hole. I think I need to figure out club distance; hitting the center of the face more consistently since my lesson and my clubs seem to be flying a bit farther. . 44/45:89 8 FW 8 GIR 37 putts tony@CIC, Rickp, MattF and 10 others 13 Quote Driver: G400 Max 9* w/ KBS Tour Driven Fairway: TS3 15* w/Project X Hzardous Smoke Hybrids: 915H 21* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype 915H 24* w/KBS Tour Graphite Hybrid Prototype Irons: TR20V 6-11 w/Vizard TR20-85 Graphite Wedge: 54/12D, 60/8M w/:Accra iWedge 90 Graphite Putter: Sacks Parente MC 3 Stripe Backup Putters: Milled Collection RSX 2, mFGP2, Futura 5W, TM-180 Member: MGS Hitsquad since 2017

Popular Post Kenny B
Played the worst round in a very long time. Shot 91 with six (6) doubles, not counting the one I got at the turn. No penalties!!!! My short game disappeared including putting. Usually I can save poor shots with my short game and putting... not today!! Both were worse than my long game. For the first time since I joined this club in 2015, I 4-putted. Today I couldn't see the line and had poor speed... bad combination. The 4-putt came on the Par 4 #7. I was on the front of the green in two shots; it was 35 YARDS to the hole!!! The rough is longer than normal; the club added new sand to SOME bunkers; and the green speed is a little quicker than normal. The Central Washington Chapter PGA Pro-Am being held at our course tomorrow. 4-Person Teams/ 1 Pro and 3 Ams... 1 Gross and 2 Net scores. I used to play in these tournaments 20+ years ago. It was a great way to play some private courses for $50. Now it's $100 for public courses and $125 for private courses. The bad thing is I can't go to the course tomorrow for much needed practice!! cksurfdude, B_R_A_D_Y, NRJyzr and 9 others 10 2 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”

JeremyD
I can't complain too much about my $10 per 9 golf course Midland CC. It's a little short, has a couple of narrow holes, the greens hold nicely, but I think it's time for a change of scenery for a couple of rounds. I am happy to try out Fire Fox in a month or so on a vacation. I played 2 balls, lost none, and shot 38 and 42. It was 95 degrees and although I drank plenty of water, the heat got to me. Two years ago, 38 or better would've been my score, but now, I'm way into my own head and I was lucky to average a 40. The course/slope rating isn't too high, so this is jacking my handicap. On a bright side, I'm trying my best to hit a cut off the tee with my woods. I was hitting this terrible pull hook, for a few years, and it's back to my old slice ball that helped me as a kid tony@CIC, Nunfa0, cksurfdude and 5 others 8 Quote When my wife asked if I wanted to leave Maine and move to where she grew up, I couldn't say no to Pinehurst, NC. Popular Post ejgaudette
Got out for a Fathers day round with my data this morning. We used to get to play together more, but he has been into cycling lately so this is usually the only time we get to play. First round with the Epic Max LS and it performed well, but more on that in the testing thread. Approach game was off though. Just did not hit enough greens so even though short game was solid, especially putting, just not enough greens to score well. Went 40/40, and left the par putt one roll short on 18 to miss 79. Still it was a great day and enjoyable with my Dad. Popular Post M. Parsons
Saturday at Los Altos (tournament) - 43/42-85, 9/18 GIR, 38-putts (4, 3-putts, and 2, 1-putts) I was playing with 2 other guys that had better handicaps than me, which doesn't happen for me too often, at least not as much as I'd like for it to. I've heard it's better to play with people better than you. Course Handicaps were 4, 6, and 11, and we all shot 43 on the front...I had 2 doubles on the front, over shot the green on my 3rd into a par-5, then 3-putted, hit my second shot OB on #9 and that turned into my second double. The putting was really frustrating because I had been putting so well the last 5 rounds (30, 30, 33, 30, 32). I was actually playing pretty well on the back, until I missed a really short putt on #17 for par...then I never drive it right on #18, but I did this time...into the fairway bunker with a tree between the bunker and the green, I hit the tree coming out of the bunker then had to try to go under the limbs to get on the green...chunked it, pitched on and 2-putted for my third double of the day. The good thing was the 9/18 GIR, I can't remember how long it's been since I hit that many greens. I don't know what it is with me and putting, but I have found the same thing last year, where I just didn't feel comfortable over the ball. Last year I switched up putters and that seemed to help for a while, so maybe I'll be doing that again. Edited June 21, 2021 by M. Popular Post Tom the Golf Nut
First, you face the fact that it was just an off day. You did that already. Second, you know you have been playing well and been shooting in the 70's. You know your fundamentals are strong so you have to just let it go. Many times your best round is right after a poor round. Put that message in your head and look forward to playing. Option "B" Focus on what you did well. If not much then fall back on "well at least I got all the crap out of my system" Then have a beer and forget about it. Then just go out and play better the next time. Popular Post cksurfdude
So after several disappointing rounds actually had an ok ball-striking day. Walked 9 carrying a lightweight bag with just 6 clubs - hybrid, 2 irons, 2 wedges, putter - a few extra balls (lost one, found two Pro V1s) and water. I like the back-to-basics feel but after surfing the other day some of the old back muscles were starting to tighten up... As has been the norm of the last several rounds my first tee shot was good but then struggled with them (again) after that. Except for the shorter Par 3 where I pull-hooked the tee shot waaaay left .. and lost the ball in deep, thick rough .. and the longer Par 3 where I hit the green .. the rest of the tee shots were out to the left or the right but this round all find-able and playable. At least my punch-out shots are improving! For the most part irons and wedges were ok; made more not great but going-in-the right-direction golf shots than usual. Putting was the disappointment - after incrementally improving over the last several rounds, ie. leaving more first putts closer and closer to the hole - I was generally over-reading break and mis-reading speed and sending the ball whizzing by on the high side .. leaving me some 4 or so foot comeback putts of which I ended up 3-putting FOUR. Which turned bogeys into doubles and doubles into triples.... But on the bright side overall I had 5 holes of 3 bogeys, 1 par (Par 5), 1 birdie (Par 3 - ok tee shot and one great putt!) vs 4 doubles or triples .. so no scoring records but sloooowly trending in a positive direction! tommc23
Had a piss poor ball striking day with my irons today. Was hitting everything high on the face which I never do. Scrambling was so so also yet I shot a 92. If I could putt like I did today on my good striking days I’d break 90 finally. Wanted to hop in to see if I could get some wisdom from fellow MGS mates. Have been having my greatest season to date, down to a 5 handicap, shooting in the 70s- but on Saturday, whoa. 91, and the club literally felt foreign in my hand. I wasn't mad and had a great time (laughed her off), but let's be honest, today all I can think about is what went wrong. And so I ask, how do you all shake off that one bad round and not overthink it all? Cheers I shot 91 on Sunday. Worst round in a long time. I'm done for. Probably shoot mid 90's from now on. My middle name will be now be known as "klanky 4-putt". If I had a dog, he'd avoid me. I will be dedicating 2 hours every day to practice, and I may get into the 80's within a year... maybe. or… I will go out and shoot in the 70's tomorrow… probably that. Perhaps you guys could do a 2 man Pro Am scramble! Thinking back on Sunday's 4-putt, I believe could have had a better score than double bogey if I had chipped that 100 footer instead of trying to putt it. Just because I was on the green didn't mean I had to putt it. Never practice 100 foot uphill putts, but I practice 35 yard pitch shots every time I go to the course. Now I know... artful_golfer, sirchunksalot, Rickp and 3 others 3 3 Quote “We don’t stop playing the game because we get old; we get old because we stop playing the game.”
