I think the only right way to do this is Jamie sends me to each recommended place (on the house) and I play each course and take pics and do a write up on it.. Can't think of another way

So just throwing this out into the mix for potential September or any other time East Coast / near Midwest meetup.....

Wife and I just returned from a road trip which included a few days in Western PA - specifically Latrobe - and specifically which is probably familiar to most of not all of you as the home of The King Arnold Palmer (love that guy!)...

..we stayed at the Springhill Suites which has an arrangement with Arnold Palmer's Latrobe CC to book tee times for guests - thank you!!! to I don't remember who mentioned it in this forum a while back - and yes we played there, and yes it is so waaay worthwhile to visit!! 

Just a classic beautiful course with a great variety of holes and challenges!

There are some other nice courses within just a few minutes drive - we also played Glengarry Golf Links and Trotteridge GC.

So there are two guest houses on the property of Latrobe CC, but I did not inquire as to capacity nor rates. Just a mile away on State Route 30 are a bunch of restaurants and bars, including a fun sports bar - with two golf sims! - called Sharkys.

So the Latrobe CC clubhouse, and locker rooms, are like a museum of Arnie photos, awards and memorabilia.

The only disappointment was the building where he had his office and kept his club collection .. >1,800 putters @Jmikecpa and an "unknown" total of other clubs (according to an AP Company employee) .. is not open to the public...

Right now, I'm a hard maybe. I had a blast at the last one and definitely am going to try to swing it next year and I'm excited about the prospect of going to Myrtle. I've only played there once, thirty years ago, at a course that no longer exists.

I fully concur regarding Latrobe C.C.  I had a customer who was a member at that club and I played there with him in the early 2000s (about 2003 or ‘04). Over the 10+ years that I was calling on this client, I probably ate at a half dozen or more of those restaurants on Route 30.

I mean if we are being honest if anyone is going to do a scouting trip it will be me and going to all the states the other mods are in to play with them and their area courses as the APH Grand Tour... not sure MGS would foot the bill for that one though.

Throwing this in the ring for a fall meet area, but there are a couple northern Alabama RTJ courses (still 8 hours drive away) but they offer massive group/corporate rate discounts, and have hotel partnership with Marriott and Bonvoy hotels on or close to the courses.

Also, pursell farms is supposed to be incredible too. (As seen on YT)

Plan an extra day to adapt to the elevation. Sea level guys will have a tough time the first day. Depending on the location of the courses chosen. But you are already starting a mile higher.

Let's get something going, we have only about 2 months of good golf to go plus 2 more "extended season" months if we are lucky.  We had talked about Ravenwood CC in Victor, I had a chance to play the front 9 a week ago and would like to visit that half plus the back 9 this time.  It's pretty much in middle of our neck the woods just shy of 2 hours drive for me, couldn't be much more for Ryan and Matt coming in from the other direction.  And anyone else who is interested of course!  One day, flash in the pan, reasonably early start and time for 19th hole before return to fort home station.  I can talk to Bob Gilbert on Tuesday at the next HOPE session in Rush, or sooner,  to get things going.  

Oh no intention for this to derail or pirate the thread    honest!

Once my daughter is back in school I am available most any day between 8:30-2:30 so let's aim for September.

I would be very interested in an RTJ Trail outing.  I was looking to put a solo trip together for a long weekend this past winter.  I played Oxmoor almost 30 years ago when my folks lived in Pell City outside of Birmingham and would love to explore more of this set of courses.
