... Maybe the absolute nastiest 4 letter word in the English language. S-A-L-E.   Cobra Arnie shirt with some local cactus and really nice colors was too difficult to resist at 50% off. And a very rare one day MGI sale of 20% so I picked up a MGI Zip X1 electric cart. $699 for $559 was too good to pass up. I have my Remote controlled Zip Navigator but figured visitors and family could use a non remote cart. It takes no time to learn to use. Just press the button, walk behind and press the button again to turn off when you get to your ball.

I bought a used callaway maverick 5 hybrid. The callaway xr 5 hybrid I have I hate it because it has a hook face. I just don't like looking down and seeing that. The maverick has a neutral look to it and I shouldn't have to worry about hooking it.

Bought some Lamkin Crosslines the other day to replenish my grip stock. (best grips ever made, I won't hear otherwise). 

Already used them up! Re-gripped some old Ping Eye 2's this afternoon for my dad (4-SW) These things look incredible now. The heads need a little tidying up with the polishing wheel after 40 years of British golf, and i'll be sure to share some more updates over the coming weeks.

Well, after one range session my biggest impressions are:

• far
• high
• straight
• fun

In was legit laughing with some of the shots I hit. Very minimal adjustment period for me.

I constructed it this morning out of random bits I had laying around. 2 trestles (saw horses) and an MDF sheet and thats about it. Could probably build one yourself for well under $100!

What have I bought recently? A fitted PXG Gen6 XF 7 wood...AND a UST LinQ Red shaft for my old 7 wood. See below for a cathartic ramble 

I'm on a bit of a journey with the 7 wood at the moment...

Bought one on a bit of a whim 18 months ago (Cobra LTDx) and man, they're a tonne of fun! Even when you think 'I've not hit that well!' you look up and it's still in the air AND heading towards the green! It baffles me why I don't see more in peoples' bags. 

BUT...since Easter, for whatever reason, I've struggled with it. So it was time for a change. Now, I'm a lefty, so finding getting fitted for a driver is tough to find, let alone a 7 wood...! So I booked in with PXG, who visit my local course periodically, tested the Gen6 XF, gained some yardage and hit it well after adjusting to it. One thing troubled me (and still does!); the way the shaft felt. Actually no, two things; it's a MASSIVE head, almost offensively big, but I can get past that. Ok 3 things; it sounds like a tin-can! But hey, I use a G425 MAX driver, so looks/sounds don't put me off! 

I fit into the Project X Cypher 2.0 shaft (reg), which, compared to the Hazrdus Green stiff/low spinning/low launching steel pole I had in the Cobra, the Cypher felt like a liquorice whip; I HATED it. But, despite reservations, I trusted the fitter, who I know is excellent, and the numbers and bought the thing. Now here's the thing (yes, get to the point, man.); I just haven't vibed with it at all and crucially, haven't got any confidence standing over it. Have I hit some good shots with it? Yes, absolutely. Do I feel that the next one will be good? No. And that is not a fun feeling, and certainly not one I want from a 7W, or any club in my 'hacker-bag' as it's often referred to.  

Also since having it, on several occasions, I've been thinking about the ex; what would happen if I put a more manageable shaft in that old Cobra 7W head...? 

So, this morning, time is up. I've ordered the same shaft that I have in my Cobra 5W, a UST LinQ Red; I LOVE that club/combo so much!

The shaft should be here by the end of the week; time for some head to head testing. I expect the Cobra to perform very well, but who knows...

(apologies for rambling; it's actually very cathartic...and the wife really doesn't care so it has to come out somewhere!)
