Fall Golf. Best Time of the year?

I love summer golf, but my favorite time for golf is fall.. 

 

I love the fact that the courses in the PNW are usually still in great shape, the weather is still great, the courses less crowded, with cheaper greens fees.. and Most of all, the cool crisp air, the dew on the greens.. Heaven.. 

 

Am i the only one NOT living in Florida that loves fall golf?? I like it way better than spring golf..

I do love fall golf minus finding my ball with all the leaves. I got maybe one mor round in me before I need to focus on hunting for month and a half then resume golf when weather allows.

I'm in SoCal, and fall IS the best time to play for me. Summer was actually too hot most of the time. And with football season back the courses aren't as crowded.

I love fall golf in MN. It isn't like Hell's fire pit and isn't the cold bite of spring. Only problem with fall is that it means 7 months of snow are coming.

It's absolutely the best time for golf here on the other side of the Cascades as well.  Spring is really windy, summer is really hot (but dry), and winter is well... chilly.  But fall is beautiful.  Temps in the mid 70's and sunny for the next 10 days, probably all month.  Getting a little cool at night, but that's great for sleeping!!

Best time of the year in Florida is shoulder season - Mid October to Mid December and mid March to mid May although greens often get aerated in that second shoulder season.

Well, I'm in Florida, and I absolutely think fall is the best time of year for golf.  About the time the calendar turns to October we finally get a reprieve from 90+ degrees and it's actually semi-comfortable on the course and walking is an option where you won't die sweating out your entire body liquid in 3 holes.

Like everyone else, I love the weather associated with fall golf. Leaves hiding my ball? Not so much.

In addition to the pros already mentioned (best weather, beautiful colorful backdrops), I'd add this: fall rates! This is the time of year I'm willing to stray from my home course and play courses that, during the summer months, cost more than I'm willing to spend on a round.

 

I'd also add one other con to fall golf, in addition to losing balls under leaves: our course sprouts hundreds of golf-ball-sized mushrooms this time of year. So you end up with this sequence: hit ball into field of leaves, hunt for the ball, spot your "ball," realize you got tricked by a stupid mushroom, blow up the mushroom with your club.

It's my favorite time of year anyway, so golfing during this time is icing on the cake.  Leaves here in SW MT not nearly as bad as the PNW. I remember losing balls in the fairways at Ft. Lewis & McChord AFB GC's.  .

I love fall golf here in Denver. Prices are usually a little cheaper, courses are still in fantastic condition, colors around the area are beautiful and it's easy to find tee times. Only drawbacks are no more tournament opportunities and I know winter is on its way but I love fall golf.

Yeah, up here in MN it is 95° today with a 101° heat index.

Next week is thunderstorms for 3 days and then 60°. How about one 75° day?

Yeah, 60s is considered “freezing” in SoCal. I don't miss New York winters at all.

Agreed, really enjoy the Fall .. well, except for the aforementioned leaves that occasionally swallow your ball whole! .. but really looking forward to a few nice rounds over the next few months after losing most of the Summer season to family issues, too much brutal heat or drenching rain plus a bit of a personal issue... And Fall is the time for a few good surf sessions, too!

I'm jealous of you right now. This time of year here in Tennessee it still reaches 90+ degrees, which is rough to play in.

 

I love playing once the weather cools and often will until the temps get below 40. I love the fact that the courses become less crowded and I'm not sweating profusely.
