Putter Face

As I think about possibly a new putter one question that keeps popping up in my head is about the face. I see so many groove patterns out there along with smooth faces. Is there really a difference between each? Smooth vs groove?

There is a difference.  Some do have performance benefits.  Some alter feel/sound.

^^^ What he said! ^^^

Since the introduction of EVNROLL's "Sweet Face" technology (Technology – Evnroll US) there have been several releases from multiple manufacturers with competing face tech. My gamer uses said technology and does appear to make a difference - at least in distance control if nothing else. Sound and feel can also be manipulated using face grooves as mentioned above. All that really matters though is the ball going in the hole so play what suits your game and don't be "sold" on something that doesn't.

To be honest that was my thought before posting this. Guess I just needed to confirm my thinking. Thanks !
