L.A.B. Putters - 2023 Forum Review

Just so you don't all think the putter is magic, I'd just like to share my experience on Friday's round.  I hit a great 7-iron to pin-high on #1, the putt snapped like crazy at the hole, so tapped in for par.  After that, the wheels fell off, and I couldn't figure out the pace of the greens, and I kept CRUSHING the ball past the hole (and then, of course, a few times leaving it hilariously short because I was so worried about blowing it by).  I had two (!) u-turn lip-outs where the ball settled one inch away from the hole on the same line I putted it on, I had three other 90-degree lip-outs.  To say I was struggling is putting it nicely.  

I had - and get ready for this, because I've never heard of ANYONE doing this, ever - NINE three-putts on the day. Lol. I was a shell of a man on the greens, which is hilarious, because I had one of the best days driving the ball I've ever had.  

So anyway, lots of work coming up in the next two weeks before I get out again, to regain that confident stroke.  Nothing to do with the LAB, obviously, but man oh man. This game is so mental sometimes.

That's how it be sometimes. I had two 3 jacks today with the DF but one was kinda impossible to not blow by the hole, it was just so downhill that if you weren't under the hole you were screwed. Almost holed it, then it went 15 feet by.

The other one I can't blame anything more than me being a wuss and putting my lag half way.

No worries as we ALL know there is no putter on the planet guaranteeing zero three putts.  Good days and bad days just like with irons, drivers, fairway/hybrids.  The human element will screw up the best equipment made so you could putt with a $25.00 putter or a $1000.00 putter and it wouldn't make a bit of difference.  Momma said there would be days like that!

You will love it I'm sure. Took a min to get use to but I don't see mine going anywhere anytime soon!

You're in good company...or bad depending on how you look at it.  Had a Sunday out with my old man earlier this year and had a Murphy's law afternoon.  Started off with a couple of easy two putts and then proceeded to three-putt the next 7 holes.  We only played 9 but rest assured I would have easily reached two more had we played 18.  It became a joke after the third time.  A really bad joke by the last hole.

Still processing. This is the end of week 5, so maybe it will go into production next week.

Not a fan of the Garsen x LAB grip, it's a different material than their standard Quad Tour but otherwise, really solid. Face feels much more firm than my DF 2.1, and I think I prefer that. Rolled it a little on the practice greens today but it was rainy and the "regular" practice area was reserved for a junior golf thing. Starts the ball on my line as expected, but the firmer face might help me from leaving putts short all the time. Always struggled with the DF which was my only complaint about it after 2 years in the bag.

That's awesome !   I hope you enjoy yours as much as I am mine. Two rounds behind my back and the broom is impressing me.  No 3 putts today and only one yesterday. Each time out I can definitely see why LAB is hotter than a two-dollar pistol.

Getting ready to go out to my workshop and remove the 21-inch Jumbo Max grip off my Broomstick.  I'll try to save it with a tool I have that works great on regular grips but with the Jumbo being 21 long not sure if the tool will reach long enough to loosen up the bottom end of the grip.  I hate to cut it off as it's a great grip, however, after a few rounds with it I'm going back to the split grip for my Broom.  I have a split grip ordered from Amazon that should arrive tomorrow. 

 

 

I tried to order the LAB grip but they said they are out until sometime in December so I decided on the Super Stroke. One thing I will miss will be using my air compressor to put on my new or changed grips.  It's so easy to do however  I don't believe it will work with the split grip.

Took off the 21 Armlock Jumbo Max grip! Between the solvent and my grip saver tool on one end and air compressor on the other end it came right off.

Now I have one round (Gray) and one pistol style (Blue) 21 Armlock Jumbo Max Grips. I might sell them as a pair on Marketplace for $40.00.

My Broom was sweeping those putts like a champ today! 

1 - 3 Putt

8 - 2 Putts

12 - 1 Putts !!!

Front - 16 Putts
Back - 12 Putts !!!
Total - 28 Putts

I had two putts that hung on the lip. 

I had three doubles today along with three birdies.  One putted #17 from 30 + feet for a bird.  I had a few chips that came within four or five feet that I easily made. 

My Ping G430 is a great driver however I did miss a few off line today I either ended up with doubles or bogies. 

To have such an awesome day with putting my Iron striking was inconsistent and my driver was wayward. 

42/39 = 81

I'm debating putting right handed next season. Rolled a few in the shop the other day and felt good. 

Or maybe this is just my excuse to get a link...

Not as drastic as one night think. I'm right handed and play several sports right handed. I can golf right handed. But more inconsistent. Putting I have also been able to do either or and I think it could be a fun experiment.

Agreed that its not as crazy - I putt cross handed (not the same thing, I get it) so I think its doable.  I think the hardest thing would be lining / standing over the putt from the other side.  Can't hurt to try!

If you go the right handed route you'll have to post updates. As a natural lefty with ambidextrous capabilities, I have gone stints putting right handed but was not able to make it stick (too inconsistent). One of the guys in my regular group is a right handed player that putts left handed. I've been playing golf with this guy for 15 years plus and he has always putted lefty. So it's not unheard of.

I putted right handed for about 6 months as an experiment years ago and did pretty good with it. I'm also ambidextrous and don't have a "dominant" eye but ended up moving back to left handed just because I had found a putter I wanted finally in left handed.

i have seen it, as a matter of fact a great canadian golfer of my generation Jim Nelford played right and putted left on tour, but haven't seen it very often...
