invee123
04/30 I played at Eisenhower GC in Monument, CO (blue course, home of the US Air Force Academy) and kept Friday's trend of terrible play going. We had some skin in the game so I pushed onward for the back 9 and ended up shooting a respectable 94 after a 49-front. The weather was insane, and we were lucky enough to get a tee time after calling the pro shop right as a 4-some cancelled their time. Course conditions were okay, but the blue course definitely had some of the hardest/most protected greens that I've ever played. The course has crazy views of Pikes Peak and surrounding mountains which really make for an exciting experience. Best part was that winter rates for DoD Civilian rate was $35 for 18!! with a cart at 1:40pm on a Sunday! As for the Vero X2 balls, I noticed more of the same lack of spin off the tee box with I was happy with, especially given the tight fairways on even the par 5s. cksurfdude, dback, Kenny B and 4 others 7 Quote Rogue MAX LS 9° (set to +1°) Rogue Max 3W 15° Apex UW 19° p770 w/ Project X 6.5 (4-AW) Jaws Full-Toe Black 54° & 60° Spider GT 35" TP5x
MrBandit
Funny thing happen yesterday while me and my partner were playing a practice round. For whatever reason, I couldn't make a putt, everything was to the right and on a couple of holes I was 5ft from the hole, there was no chance that was even remotely have a chance to get close to the hole. After the 10th hole, he says I just notice that on your practice strokes you are standing still, but when you are about to make the actual putt your standing up from your putting stands as you make the stroke. .. this explains why am missing so many putts. The very next hole make my first par.. then it continue.. until 17/18, a couple of loose swing, but it was a dramatic change from the front to the back. It goes to show you sometimes we make tweaks to our setup or swing and don't even notice them. And may send you down a different rabbit hole. Moral of the story , if you feel something is off, have someone take a look or if you can video tape and review. It could be just a simple adjustment. Stupid Golf! Popular Post Invader Zim 315
Was about as lucky as I could have been yesterday to get a full 18 in on Bethpage Green course. Had the very first tee time and the rain started ~15 minutes after we walked off the last hole. 82 is fine, especially considering I basically lost my swing on the back. Committed to "get it on the green" energy to avoid big numbers, so made a lot of bogeys but no doubles. Side bar, loved Bethpage Green. Obviously Black is the Monster and people love Red, but for a NY Muni, this might be the best value out there and I really enjoyed it for my first time out. Jimmy peters
Had a brilliant round at the Moonah Legends course in Fingal Victoria Australia https://www.moonahlinks.com.au/cms/golf/legends-course/ . Finished with a new 82 of the stick net 63 of 19, yes I know a bandit but on the back nine, I finished 3 over with a double bogey on the 18th. Its these type of days that really remind me how much I love this game. It can challenge you and really try your patience but I'm hooked. Vegan_Golfer_PNW
Pre work nine today. 49. Could have been much better. Burned a few putts or under read some. Had a nine foot birdie I got excited on and pulled. Three putted on a par three after having a 30ft birdie putt. Ball striking on approach play was better. Driving game started out crappy. Then realized I need to get myself to hit up more. Then boom! Only took the first 5 holes but figured it out going forward. Used the UW a lot. It’s so nice to hit. Went in two bunkers and got out of each in one shot. Didn’t get on the green but getting out of the sand was a good start. Learned a lot today and had fun. Popular Post CSiders12
Man oh Man oh Man my handicap and my current golf game are not coinciding this week. The biggest thing I hate about living in the Midwest is the inability to play regular golf for nearly half the year. I ended last season shooting under par three times and feeling really good. I just went out in league and shot a 44. I tripled the first hole, topped my first two shots, and looked like I had never played golf before. Golf is such a humbling sport, but man it can get to you as well. Hoping it all turns around soon. Popular Post cnosil
League night started out in a pretty promising fashion. First three holes perfect tee shots and approach shots to 6, 12, and 12 feet. Couldn't get comfortable over my putts and 2 putted the first two holes and then proceeded to 4 putt the third. Made a couple of mistakes off the tee during the remainder of the round but approach shots were still good and I was just missing greens. Chipping contact was solid, just had no feel for distance and didn't convert any up and downs until the last hole. I have got to stop overthinking the putting and short game aspects of my game. Popular Post MadHatter
Me and the wife walked 9 after work. She walked with me a couple times last year, and hadn't played since mid/late summer last year, but once we got onto the last 4 holes she seemed to get her groove and started making better contact with the ball. As for me, played ok, not great, not terrible. Had a triple and a double (first one sliced my drive and had to take a drop, and then a couple mishits for the triple), and thinned my chip across the green for the double. Had a long birdie look on 18 but ended up 3 putting for the bogey. 1 triple, 1 double, 4 bogeys, 3 pars : 46 , 18 putts. sirchunksalot, Jim Shaw, cksurfdude and 7 others 10 Quote Driver: TaylorMade Sim Max D 3 Wood: TaylorMade Sim Max D 5 Wood: Slazenger Wrath 3 Iron: TaylorMade GAPR Mid 4-GW: Tommy Armour TA1 Wedge: Cleveland RTX 588 54° Putter: Ping Sigma 2 Anser Stealth Ball: Maxfli StraightFli
Jim Shaw
played an interclub against a club called Bear Mountain, at Bear Mountain. A Nicklaus signature course in a suburb of Victoria BC called Langford. I have played it a few times but really have trouble getting a feel of the course. It is a cart only course with many long drives between holes amongst homes. I need to really put some time in understanding the layout of the course, once I do that I believe I will play it better, beautiful course with spectacular views. I tied my match, had some good shots and some not so good shots, putting was a challenge, off to the practice area today to work on the driver and putter... cnosil, sirchunksalot, ejgaudette and 4 others 7 Quote committed to performance excellence

invee123
Everything finally came together yesterday afternoon (except for the driver per se, but the course was open enough so that I didn't get killed by right flying toe-bangs). Every Tuesday I get a quick 9 in after work with my coworkers, but after shooting +3 on the front (I'm a 14.5 hcp) I decided to go back to the pro shop and pay for the following 9 since the course wasn't too busy. It was cloudy and slightly windy with a HIGH chance of rain, but through the whole 18 I avoided even a drop of water. Back to what went right this round, my irons. I stuck more greens and put more shots on the neighboring fringe this round than ever before. I got Ben Hogan's 5 fundamentals of golf and I'm already trying to work on a more consistent swing. Yes, I did loose a couple yards on each iron. Yes, that has led to more consistent shots at the green. Also, I should note that this course, for being a municipal course, probably had the greenest and most well manicured fairway and green grass I've seen in CO this season. I'm doing the OnCore Vero X2 test and I finally gave these balls a chance to show their might and I have to say that I am quite pleased with the results and am very glad to have given myself this good of a round to test durability, usability, workability, etc... Popular Post Kenny B
Walked the front nine this morning. It's hard to get on even as a single, but I thought it was worth a try since it was a beautiful sunny day. The pro said I could join the twosome on the first tee, so no warmup and no putting... only one practice swing. Longest ball off the first tee this year!! The two guys I played with were playing from the senior tees, which is where I play, but they hit the ball further than I used to from the Blue tees. However, they were a little wild every now and then and their short games need work, but they were very nice to an "old man". Shot 41 (+4) which is a usual score for me on the front. Just 4 bogeys, the best one was on the 500y Par 5 #5 hole: Topped my tee shot (I've hit bad shots off the tee but topping a shot isn't one of them); topped my 3W; topped my 3W again this time into the right rough; Heavenwood to 90 yards from the green; hit my 48º wedge for my 5th shot to 10 feet; made a R2L putt for my bogey. Popular Post ncwoz
First night of league last night! It was cold and WINDY, but great to be starting back up. My short game was unreal, I chipped twice to within 2 feet, and had a couple longer putts drop. Off the tee and approach wasn't terrible, but off just enough. It felt like each hole if it wasn't the tee shot it was my approach - if it was good contact it was misjudging the wind. Just one of those days. I can tell you my driver continued to be decent, my irons were pretty good, I hit a couple of fairway woods that made me smile, and my chipping was atrocious. Blade city. Putting was tough today, the greens were like putting on glass. Plus, I couldn't read the break for nothing. The first hole I went through my routine and felt break with my feet right to left and the putt rolled straight. I tapped a couple of long putts that went 10 feet past the hole and had more 3 putts than I can remember. I was proud of my mental game, I only had one hole that had me on a downward spiral. I bladed a chip over the green into a ravine and couldn't recover quick enough. On the other hand, one one hole I smoked a 5 wood and left myself with 68 yards in and hit a laser at the flag just 20 feet short. I love this game. I also hit a knock down 5 iron pin high with tree trouble and ended up left of the green. I didn't score well, I carded a 58. I'm not stressed about it because just getting to hang with friends on the course was so much fun.
