You're right. They were a parody from the beginning. But they did get a following who wanted to be different. And their first collections weren't that bad. Crazy, but not stupid.

I completely agree.  One of my friends has a couple pair of their shorts that are halfway normal looking.  I would never wear anything that I've posted in this thread, but hey, to each their own.
