Cobra shaft tipping?

I have a fly z plus I picked up, but the stock matrix in x is garbage. if I put a shaft in the adapter how much does it have to be tipped? And is the adapter made for .335? Or larger?

Tip adapter is .335, and bore depth is 1.25".   Hope this helps!

Do you know if cobra tips their shafts before putting them in th adapter?

A lot would depend on what length shaft you wanted and what head weight you want to put it into.

Cobra offer numerous "shaft only" options trimmed to your requirements - if you want them tipped, then you need to specify it before ordering. If you have your own shaft, then you need to work out how much needs to be tipped (if at all) based on:

the BBGM (bottom of bore to ground measurement)

the shaft OEM recommendations

the overall stiffness or flexibility you want to retain in the final build

 

If you don't know, then see a reputable fitter who can probably help you out to find the correct profile and flex requirements. Here's Cobras current shaft list:

Here is the thing. I have a speeder 757 that has a tmag adapter, they don't tip shafts, without being asked,

 

Whereas titleist tips all shafts 1/2", I just want to have the tmag tip removed from the speeder and replaced with a cobra adapter. The cobra fly z adapter looks shorter than the tmag one.

I sent them an email and have yet to hear back, unfortunately. Hopefully they aren't as bad as Footjoy who almost never responds.

Apparently they do not tip shafts before installing an adapter

I couldn't find this info anywhere on the web so thought I would post for the future masses

Call the shaft manufacturer. Don't bother with Cobra because they don't keep shaft data on every shaft out there. I always call the manufacturer when I need to know

Really should have done this because the biocell / fly z adapter is shallower than the taylormade adapter.
