That's a difficult question - I've been fitted enough times for iron shafts to know what fits.

My current irons are the graphite offering that Wilson has for the C200. It's extremely close to what I was fitted for in the C100.

So half and half.

Fitted might not always mean after market.

Shop fitted for me, which is probably a bit half arsed. Really only a flex fitting, and realistically, far from ideal.

Next irons will definitely go through a proper fitting, as I seriously lack confidence in my irons, never feel like they're right for me in terms of flex, weight and lie angle.

I voted yes to fitted but it isn't 100% true. They are "self fitted."

I've been professionally fit for a set of shafts and clubs previously and I know what shafts I like so I just try and go after those. Plus I've lost a little speed since my fitting so I thought it best not to swing the rebar that I had in there before. I still hit them fine but those things were heavy. Plus I usually have an idea of the numbers I want to see when I'm on a LM.

So yes and no.

Pretty much the same here. I worked with different shafts in different flexes when I was fitting customers at Dick's and when I went in there on my break. Went with weight and visual cues over raw numbers.

OMG yes.  Wouldn't dream anymore of not going through a shaft fitting for irons.  Same shaft I used with one head may not work well with the next iron head.  Plus, fittings are fun!!

I not fitted to my current set(s) but I've been fitted years ago. I know this, as consistent-ish and reliable as my swing is in general, I can't out perform the consistency of the stock shafts currently a available on the market even the crappy OEM.

I basically choose my shaft thru feel. I like most golfers fall between 2 flexes, mine is regular and stiffs and as we know how strict the shaft flex standard is in Golf equipment companies, cue rolled eyes, I just stick with how much I can feel the club head.

I do enjoy listening to the big box store fitters talk about their knowledge and fitting process, it's very inspiring, and entertaining. My 2 cents is unless you have unusual swing, swing speed or enhance feel, the stock usually good already.

One note about feel, you can go years, or decades without noticing any particular traits but once you stumble upon one, it's very difficult to tune your mind off it(Incase of bad traits).

I fit myself for the iron shafts. When I bought my Apex Pros a few years ago, I went through every shaft option I could that was stiff or X. I eventually narrowed it down to a couple based on the numbers and feel. I got on the track man and took the shaft that was the most accurate. I don't see myself using anything but C-Tapers in any iron I get any time soon.

Quick answer YES,

If u do get fit make sure you have someone with many shafts to hit. EL profile of a shaft is import to each golfers swing, tip torque and several other measurements. Short, it is how the shaft bends usually a 3 point profile. I can tell u this, when the correct mid and tip section/profule are selected and u hit the ball its like golfing all over again.

Enjoy, I would do the fit when u are ready to buy new clubs lot less$$$. Fittings are not cheap

You can say 50/50 bc this is my 3rd set of shafts and I finally found the what works best for me and after lots of research and wasted money. Do the fitting. In the end you save lots of headaches and are set up to play your best.

In the irons - YES!! I have Cobra King OS and had gone to a Club Champion last season to try out different heads and shafts .. for me this was the best performing and best feeling combo.

Did a very brief test of a lighter series in a Cally BB Fusion 3W and 5W but did not get similar results.

Next season may test out heavier ones in wedges.

Current clubs are off the rack, but with 1" extensions because of my height. Driver was fitted, but it was from a box store, so who knows the accuracy. Looking at getting a whole bag fitting this winter.

Suggestion:

Break up the whole bag fitting over a few sessions!

Yeah the one price is better but see if they'll work with you on that .. a good and complete fitting of the whole bag .. in one session .. is really a *LOT* of hard work...!
