Okay - you're on although I won't promise the next time I will do it sometime in the next month.  Pre- Pro VI I actually game the Pinnacle Gold at some point - I actually made the classic mistake of switching the Titleist Balata 100 compression tour ball for serious competition - that was so incredibly stupid but I was young.  I settled on the Wilson Smart core for the longest time and it was my ball up to the day when I switched the Pro VI in 2005 - I even remember making the switch - I swore I'd never spend $40 on a dozen balls and fought that change by not ever trying one.  Then I won $50 in pro shop credit at the end of a season - it was fall - all that was left in the shop that I could afford with the credit were 2 dozen Pro VI's on close out.  That was that. :)

I have gamed other Urethane covered balls - from the Pro VI it went to the TMag TP Red, then the Nike One Tour D, then the Bridgestone B330 RX, then Snell MTB, back to the Pro VIx - that will be in my bag for at least another year because I currently have 5 dozen RevKev 8's in my closet.

I will go to Walmarts this week. :)

Ping G410 5-9 wood  Alta 65 R flex

Edison Wedges 54 and 59 KBS Tour Graphite 80's

EVNRoll ER 5

Titleist Pro VIx optic yellow with revkev stamped on them

Tour Exotics 3 wood is in the bag because we are allowed 14 clubs.  It's a great club for pulling balls out of the water or from bushes - you never want to put your hand into anything in Florida unless you are absolutely certain that it's safe.  There are rare wind conditions when I might hit it off the tee on a few holes that I play.

I didn't mind the warbird. I know everyone else rips them, but they weren't a terrible ball imo. I will agree others you've mentioned are not the best to hit, but this is why I don't apply for ball testing [emoji28]

When is your challenge PJ? Or have you already completed it?

I haven't done my challenge yet. Probably won't get a chance until this coming Saturday. But I will.

Hey rev... I used to like the old Tour Edition ball. Remember those?

I'm kind of betting that my game won't suffer much by playing a rock. I'll just miss the feel mostly. We'll see.

Sounds fun... I'll give it at least a 9-hole shot, PJ.

Although, for this "hard rock" challenge, I'll definitely be snagging an old driver out of the guest bag - not taking any chances with the G400 face.

I got a bucket of Top-Flite X-Outs I grabbed a couple of months ago that I've been dying to get rid of. I really didn't know any better and just snapped them up so I'd have something to hit into my net at home. They were like $15 for a bucket of 50..! ;) Score right??!!

Anyhow, I get home with them and my shiny new net, set it up and hit 'em all. Took a break, jumped into the forum and lo-and-behold... someone started the "worst balls ever" thread. Front page and nearly 80% of the replies mentioned something derogatory about anything Top-Flite!!!

Sooooo, I've been "collecting" lost balls from the courses and creating a "better" range bucket with them instead. Lots of the "#1 lost ball in golf" in there BTW. It seems I get lots of practice looking for and finding other peoples lost ones since I always seem to be on the hunt for my own often times... (Yeah, yeah, I know...they're in my wife's purse...verrrrry funny).

So bottom line, yes. I'm in with Top-Flite X-Outs!

I loved the Tour Edition. That thing spun OK.

So do we need to use a rock, or can we use a surlyn covered marshmallow? This sounds like fun.

How about we bump it up a notch and include range balls? Not restricted flight ones of course...

This is going to be interesting and the comments ought to be hilarious. LOL

Use any old Rock style ball. Surlyn covers or plastic covers. Doesn't matter.

Not sure what I'll play but I have a Pinnacle of some flavor in mind right now. I find them all over the course.

Certainly should be enlightening with some of our scratch players taking the challenge.

As for range balls I'm not sure about good range balls.... ie, NXT Tour. They're not exactly a rock in my book. Certainly not a 24 for $10 ball.

If I can get my hands on a sleeve of Rock Flites, I am in.  I mean if I am going to join, I have to go all in, right?  Or do long and not soft at all Noodles count?

Great idea Plaid!

This challenge might give me an excuse to get a new driver. Once I've tried out my new K-Sigs I'll have a go with a rock, although the course is starting to soften up and the difference might not be as big as when its firm.

Hard rock on hard course could be very interesting.

If anyone has doubts of what a Rock might be; these are three good examples.

I have some Warbirds and some generic POS ball with a Michelob Lite logo that I can whack around at the par 3 next week.
