I'll be there from the 17th to the 28th. Saturday the 23rd is the likely day for the 36 hole fun fest. But, that particular date could change based on what @revkev has going on.

In my humble opinion, Bridgestone nailed it with these irons, They're not busy in the back, nothing outlandish on the sole, just a straight up business like approach, which I like. You don't have to look flash to work and you're not compensating for something. The topline is not razor thin nor is it SGI super thick, it's exactly Baby Bears porridge, just right.



Sound and Feel 13 out of 15

Sound I think is a very subjective thing, for example, a lot of people did not, under any circumstances, like the sound of the Wilson Triton driver. They wouldn't even entertain the notion of putting it in their bag even if they hit it better than their current gamer. I hit one and I don't care what noise it made...the same as with any club that I've hit, I do not care about the sound. So, my score reflects the feel only with these clubs. When you hit it flush you just don't feel the ball at all and that's the best "feeling" you can have, IMO. But, I've also hit my share of hand stingers with these clubs as well, you know the one where as soon as you hit it you know it was not a good strike. The clubs will tell you if you hit it well or not.

Performance on the Range 8 out of 10

Obviously when I got the clubs I ran down to the range to hit them and was quite happy with what was happening...even the pro, who I've known for about 10 years was impressed with them in my hands. Still can't work the ball but that's me and not the clubs.

Performance on the Course 40 out of 40

40 out of 40 you say, that's a big bold score, but I'm in love with these irons...even the 4 and 5 irons, which I don't have in my Maltbys. I had the irons bent 2° weaker than standard to better reflect my other irons and they just flat out went further. I even like the wedges against my SCORs, which, if at the beginning of this test, you'd told me that, I would have laughed at you.

I'm hitting these irons higher and further than anything I've played in the past and the averages don't lie. TBJGR 9 iron I'm hitting on average 135 yards compared to the Maltby DBM 120 yards. TBJGR 6 iron 160 yards (with a perfectly struck 181 yards) compared to Maltby 150 yards. TBJGR PW 100 yards to SCOR 48° PW 95 yards.

These irons flat out perform for me as a mid to high handicap and I think they'd be even better in the hands of a 10 or even below.

Play it or Trade it 20 out of 20

If you think you're taking these clubs out of my bag, you've got another thing coming. I can't, for the time being, go back to the DBMs, just not happening. Bridgestone, in my opinion, have gotten back into the club business with a bang!



Total 96 out of 100

Love them or hate them, I think Bridgestone have some winners here.

Nice summary there Matt, I expect to see much lower scores next time we play. Unless we play Delaware again cause no one is safe from that course lol

Well done! I know we discussed briefly when we were playing Seven Hills, but after all is said and done, do you have even the slightest bit of regret for not giving the HF1's a shot? I love these irons, too, and think they are about perfect for people of our ability.

Thanks mate! I'll certainly be trying!! Let me know the next time you're going to play Delaware and I'll make sure I'm busy doing something else.

Well done! I know we discussed briefly when we were playing Seven Hills, but after all is said and done, do you have even the slightest bit of regret for not giving the HF1's a shot? I love these irons, too, and think they are about perfect for people of our ability.

I know you weren't asking me. But I honestly couldn't have gone with those either.

Curious if Golfspy_Babajo is still playing around with them. He was a big fan. Even though he has a better game than any of us that were in Ohio.

I honestly have slightly mixed feelings. I love the HF2's a lot. In general, I've been hitting these very well and I find it hard to believe my remaining issues could be "fixed" by a different design rather than through lessons. I'm hoping to make an appointment at Club Champion this winter to have the shaft evaluated for the driver and 3w, maybe they'll have some HF1's I can hit just out of curiosity. Do you know if/when Barbajo is planning on posting something?

The shaft choice story is kind of long, but my whole reason for picking the 105's was I wanted the heaviest shaft that felt good to me. I didn't really like the KBS Tour 120's. They just didn't feel right in some demo clubs. Once I got used to the 105's, I really liked how they felt. I hadn't touched my old clubs until I got on the simulator last week and they now feel heavy to me. Long story short - I have grown to like the feel and they seem very stable for being somewhat light.

Solid follow ups everyone! I still think the HF1 is probably  better for my game, but man those HF2s look so nice.

Great job guys....I really wish Bridgestone would push their clubs more in the US...really hard to find them anywhere....my J40 DPC’s were probably my favorite iron ever! Really wish I had never gotten rid of them.

I just added a Pre-PGA Merchandise Show follow up review of the Bridgestone JGR HF-2 irons.  It's golf season; I've seen the big boys playing in Hawaii, so that makes it so.  Find the Bridgestone peeps at Orange County National next week, or find a club fitter who can fit you into a set of these beauties!

I'll definitely be at the booth asking Bridgestone where they are on getting these into more stores for fitting or the proposed demo program they talked about.    These are irons than anyone from a single digit to 20 should seriously look at if they want a great looking iron that doesn't scream GI and is forged, but yet doesn't require you to have the ball striking skills of a blade player.
