Good morning Spurs,

I was up early and had a couple of cuppas. Then it was off to donate blood. My first donation of 2024. Not much else on tap. I need to clean the grill though. Had a major “grease” fire when I grilled last. Which is why have a spray bottle filled with water handy. Got my paperwork in to officiate my son’s wedding in a few weeks. Most excited.

As someone that has made a withdrawal from the system, thank you for the blood donation!

I used to donate when I was younger, but once you've been a recipient you can never donate again (at least that was the policy in the UK before I left). Now I live in the US, I can't donate here as I lived in the UK during the BSE (mad cow disease) epidemic and blood screening doesn't detect whether donations are carrying the human form disease (CJD). I would love to be able to have continued to donate.

Good morning spies!

Was up late last night assisting my teacher over a video call. It is his first time teaching this course (but the 3rd time he has been my instructor) so he asked me to assist him with going through and completing all of the weekly tasks so he has a fair idea of how long each task will take to complete. The course was thrown into his workload last minute, so I decided to help him out. Great guy. But anywaaays, it is still raining here in SoCal. But I did check the weather last night before bed and as expected, the rain is expected to subside within a day or two.  I am so ready to get back into my routine, I am not an indoorsman at all (and I still chose to work with computers).

Good morning! Took a while to get caught up on yesterdays GMT posts, but it's nice to catch up on everyone's Tuesdays. Mine isn't going to be too exciting. Work is super busy with the roll out of a new data interface and there are a lot of questions. Then it's home for family time and after the kids go to bed we've got a lot of housework to do before we have a bday party for my son on Saturday.

Good morning all! Got in to play a quick 9 at my home course this morning. I'm still getting back into golf after a 10 year gap from playing in college to now. I'm down to 4 hcp in 6 months which I'm happy with, but this morning was particularly good. I hit all 9 GIR, pretty sure I bounced off the pin back to a foot for what could've been my first HIO and ended at even par through 9. Seems like it's always the best rounds that you aren't able to finish out

Good morning all you Spies! Although for most of you, it's more like mid-morning.

Regardless, welcome to another beautiful day. Sun is shining bright here and little to no clouds in the sky. But rain coming Thursday evening.  I'll be in ATL by then, luckily. Then again, it's supposed to rain the entire weekend I'm there. Ugh.

Oh well, luckily I'll be inside all weekend working.

Good Day Spies! 

Chilly & Windy Central Florida morning.   51 degrees & windy for 7:15am tee time.  We actually teed off closer to 7:30am, due to sanding (top dressing) the greens.  They top-dressed, rolled & watered the greens.  The greens were actually pretty good.  It did warm up to 61 degrees however, wind was pretty stiff & constant. Good ball striking day & Had my first eagle of the year, chipping in on Par 5. 

Back home and to work! Enjoying a nice HOT cup of Espresso!!

No hate, just jealousy Where you at? That looks awesome.  My wife and I vacationed last year in Ixtapa exactly this time of year, and it was incredddddddible (all I'm going to say is: kids-camp for the win)

Good day everyone! I took @buckpillar’s advice. With my recent putting issues, I went and had a fitting/lesson. Apparently I was setting up with my putter face slightly open at address. This caused me to take the putter back slightly outside and making contact inconsistent. Sometimes we slide into bad habits. However, also I had the wrong putter for my stroke. I need a face balanced putter. I traded in three older putters. I received the fitting/lesson with 2 pros working on me and a new Odyssey Ai-One JailBird Mini. With the trade only spent 148! If I start putting again low rounds are coming!! This putter corrected  my alignment issue.

Also relearned a great putting drill to work on the stroke.

Nice…interested to hear your thoughts on the Ai…just finished up the test on a 7s and was super impressed with the distance control and feel.

I play on Thursday and it will be in the bag! Glad you are impressed with the 7’s. If I didn’t do the fitting I would have picked it. The JailBird Mini actually performed best for me. They also bent it 4 degrees flat.

Nice looking putter.  I can kind of relate to your comment about sliding into bad habits.  The last few years I’ve studied a lot about the mechanics of the swing, but ignored various aspects of putting, but last year after improving a lot with my scores, it was obvious my putting was holding me back.  

Did I slide into bad habits? IDK - only because I couldnt have told you what my habits were.  I had an old ping blade putter that I really liked the look, but something was wrong.  I finally spent a lot of time studying about putting and tried a lot of different Odyssey Versa putter styles that my club had as demos.  By this time I was convinced I needed a mallet or mid-mallet.  I also focused a lot on setup, ball position, and more shoulder turn with relaxed arms and quiet wrists. 

One day at a pgatss I was trying various other brands and a bored sales agent approached and we started talking.  He says if I have time, he’d like to bring out SAM.  So, he sets it up and it analyzes my putting.  I was using an unfamiliar putter for the test, but it gave me a good idea about my swing technique.  So I went back to my club and checked out the Odyssey Versa DoubleWide (has slight toe-hang) and played a round with it with very good success.  I wasn’t  sure it really fit my eye and ended up checking it out 2 more times.  I couldn’t argue with the results and finally ordered.  By that time, the price was reduced to $234 and I couldn’t be happier performance-wise.

I know it is evening for me but the morning was hectic. Got up to make my morning coffee and saw the news about Toby Keith. Being in the casino business he and I crossed paths a few times and was just a nice down to earth dude. Glad I was able to catch several of his shows over the years. My hour at the gym today was his music on shuffle.

Nice result and good to hear you had a positive putter fitting experience. I plan to book a putter fitting and lesson once I figure out the best place for each in my area- it's definitely my Achilles heel! I really like some of the Odyssey mallet putters and I had a try out with a friend's O-works 7S and old Jailbird last spring. The new AI models are intriguing.

Follow up to my post the other day about getting to golf again post ACL surgery. Met with the surgeon today for my 12 week follow up. Fully cleared to golf including full swings with the driver. I went straight to PGAASS to take a couple swings with the big stick. First one was a beautiful baby draw at 298 yards. Just a nice smooth swing nothing crazy and was very happily surprised. Wish I could say the rest of my swings were that nice . Still can’t complain I can play golf again and hit the big stick.
