Good morning spies! 63° degrees at the moment and I’m hearing that we MIGHT get some rain today. Desperately need some rain but it seems like when it does rain we don’t get much.

No golf plans for today, might be a good day to just come home and chill after work.

Good morning all! 

Was a late night with meetings and calls and early morning for work and then some private lessons (coaching for curling) however I managed to sneak over to the course inbetween and get 6 holes in at the 6 Hole Championship course at the course I have a membership at. I wasnt sure what to think, I had heard some decent things about it, but 6 holes is not a lot... just the thought of only playing 6 while not bad was a bit of a turn off. 

I was wrong. What a fantastic set of 6 holes. Maybe my favorite 6 holes on the property. 

This is the first tee shot. Not that inviting at all truthfully, but managed to be in the semi rough and hit it to 6 feet before missing the birdie putt. Greens are still in some shape after being punched so I take the good with the bad. Either way a nice easy par on the first hole. 

Next hole is par 5, I did push my drive into the hazard which sucked but dropped, played a 7 iron to 115 yards before stuffing it to 3 feet and making the putt. So another par! 

Hole 3 is a sweeping dog leg right where you have to carry over some marshland area. Really fun and a choice of how much you want to chew off, played a bit conservative and ran through the fairway into the semi about 140 yards out. Hit a bad 9 iron and ended up short, but made a nice chip up and down for yet another par! 

Hole 4 par 3 with elevated green, awful tee shot good pitch and 2 putt bogey. Oh well. 

Hole 5 another par 5 and hit a good drive over some bunkers and was 220 yards out, played a 5 iron to the front right, pitch and putt for the first birdie and back to even par. 

Final hole is the toughest. Cant hit driver as there is a hazard and trees about 250 yards right across, so hit 3 wood to 165ish yards just in the fairway infront of the trouble and then hit a skinny 7 iron to 2 feet for another birdie to finish at -1 for the 6 holes. 

This set offers so many other challenges vs the other main course and was an absolute delight to play. I had a great playing partner Beat who gave me some good german lessons and really enjoyed the hour we spend playing the 6 holes. 

What a great way to play the game of golf with a fun, challenging 6 hole course that only takes an hour ish to play. 

A good lesson with some people afterwards and now home to spend some time with the kids before coming back to work for the evening!

But I did get out to the range yesterday, hitting it solid, gonna try and get a round in over the next couple days if I can. Good morning all from a rainy Wisconsin morning. Desperately needed as we haven’t had significant rain in what feels like forever. No golf on the books for today but that is ok as yesterday after work my oldest and I jumped out on the course and played 6 holes before heading home for dinner (no late nights on school nights for a 1st grader!). Left at 30 (+7) through 6, so things were going much better than my match play round last week and it’s always just so fun to get some one on one time on the course with my oldest.

Going to play a Friday morning 9 (and maybe finish out the three holes I missed yesterday) with my youngest in tow and then 18 on Saturday or Sunday. 

Both boys have haircuts today after school as picture day is next week, so I’ll be taking them for those.

Tuesday is here my fellow spies, meaning that thankfully Monday is gone…   
   My career planing review is over with.The negatives…First the biggest one, corporate is on boarding a bunch of new out of the box engineers and technicians, meaning NO retirement package was in the offing for me . Secondly I got reprimanded for not adhering to corporate culture ( aka. Doesn’t play well with others ). 
 The positives…Kept the current “employtant” contract with more than decent increases in the different levels of compensation. Despite the desires and wishes of she who would rule the world, NO international assignments. Finally, when asked for future career plans; I stated the same as always… To just see another sunrise and to be left alone as much as possible by corporate.  
            Have only another day or so having to deal with c-suite’s . Having multilevel management meetings ( playdates) today.  
   Looking forward to an abundance of golf this weekend as a sanctuary from those who pay my wages and the “she” who rules my life… May today be the best Tuesday you and yours have ever had…

Getting an early start on some work today so I can have my feet on the fairways this afternoon. I’m hoping to get a solid round in today before my round for the Match play event. It’s Christmas in September for me today because I was lucky enough to get selected for the Sub70 putter testing!

Very excited for this opportunity, and I have a really good feeling about the putter I chose (more on that to come in the review thread). This has been such a welcoming and rewarding community to be a part of. Almost hard to believe a place like this exists on today’s internet lol.

Work is going to be a bit of a slog today cause now all I’m thinking about is putting . Have a lesson after work as well. Hope everyone has a great day, and keep being awesome.

Happy Tuesday.  Weathers great, wish I was getting out for some golf.    
 

Unfortunately, not feeling great this morning.  Have another MRI scheduled for tomorrow morning.  Not looking forward to spending 30+ minutes in a loud claustrophobic tube again but hoping it gives some doctor the information needed to figure out what is going on.  The one advantage is that it has slowed my pace considerably which seems to have improved my golf a little bit.

Getting out to play an executive course today, kind of like a practice day course where using irons and working on keeping smooth tempo is my plan.

Cooler weather and rain settling in early today. Hoping it clears up as I'm supposed to go to the Cubs game tonight with my fiancée. Not the biggest baseball fan but I love the atmosphere of watching a game in person.

Hoping to get some putting practice at home in between work meetings. Coffee already needs a refill.

Working on my second cuppa. ️ Hoping to get 9 holes in but the weather does not want to cooperate. I’m not gonna lie, I’m a fair weather golfer. Golf is meant to enjoyed, not endured. Watching my iPhone get its iOS 17 update. I’m a bit of a nerd so this a tech Christmas morn for me. With my birthday a few weeks away, I’m eying a new Apple Watch. It has some features the seem to support golf by integrating with some golf apps so that merits further investigation. 
Hoping the clouds clear for 9.

Good morning, Spies!

It's a busy workday, but with a gorgeous view of the sunny late summer weather.

A neighbor and I played a late, leisurely, walking/carrying 9 holes yesterday on a nearby muni course.  It was one of those perfect afternoons with long shadows, an uncrowded course, and low-70's temps.  We both played well, too.  

Work and life have interfered with my planned putter testing rather significantly, to the point that I have not been able to do it at all.  That said, without anything more than looking at my putts per round, I can say that the Scotty Cameron Special Select Fastback 1.5 with the UST Mamiya All-In Retrofit graphite shaft and Garsen Max grip is a game-changer.  I had one 3-putt yesterday (totally my fault), but holed 3 loooong putts to end with only 16.  That's on top of a 28-putt 18-hole effort a couple weeks ago.  I was concerned that the retrofit shaft would not work with the Scotty shaft because the Scotty shaft has a larger diameter.  The retrofit says it fits into a .370 shaft (which is smaller than the Scotty), but with one wrap of metal tape and a tad extra epoxy it is solid as can be.  I'm extremely pleased.  For less than $99, this shaft in particular seems to be a winner for me.  I'm digging the grip too.  Many thanks to MGS for the great reviews of the Garsen grips.

Coffee and food trucks have EXPLODED in popularity around our area over the last probably three years. I would say at least 4 times a year, the hospital board of directors has one or two trucks come to the facility and it is fully paid for. Really, really nice thing to do. They do it with food trucks once in awhile as well.

Good morning all!

Very cool this morning. Awesome golf weather here in O-H-I-O! Going to get to the range in a bit for some final tuning of the big stick before flying out tomorrow to Hawaii. Will be playin Kona Country Club again this year. The weather will be perfect here while I am gone so get out and play! Can’t wait to play more with my fellow spy @snoopy79 in October! Fun during the day and sit around a camp fire in the evening. Here is a pic from one of the holes I played last year. Here’s hoping I don’t bless the Pacific ocean with a Maxfli or two….
