Your Bandon posts prompted me to go back last night just before bed and read a few chapters of The Nature of the Game, Mike Keiser's account of how he came to develop Bandon and a lot of other courses around the world. He talks about an annual event called the Bandon Solstice, on the longest day of the year (thus coming up soon for 2024), where you play four courses in one day. That's 72 holes and 25+ miles of walking. Make sure you have waterproof shoes and wear compression shorts or you'll chafe like a mother (which I also found to be true for marathoning). THAT is a lot of walking.

I understand they have sign-up for the next year's Solstice every November and it sells out in like 5 minutes, with a waitlist to cover dropouts. To finish before sunset, you need to play each round in about 3:15 or less.

The solstice would be fun as hell. I’m probably wearing tennis shoes rather than golf shoes and you definitely have to play gimmies. We finished Dunes in 4:15 and Trails in 4:30 and I felt like we played fast. Better get in some serious cardio ahead of time to get ready.

My plans today are some range time later this morning, and then a round later this afternoon.

Haven't played since the MGS trip, and my play during those rounds left a lot to be desired.

Already a warm Central Florida morning, 77 degrees with a high of 98 today. Another hot morning/day of Ranger duties. Enjoying the first cup of espresso, before heading out.  Let’s hope people are motivated to play a quick round today before temps reach the high 90’s.  Unlike yesterday! Ugh! Slow play does suck! Lol.

Good morning MGSpies on a damp cool WHY Sunday with PGA HOPE session to get to in the Rochester area, last session for this clinic so on-course play and graduation for the participants, will have graduate mentor things to do with helping with the on-course part and whatever else is needed.  Will be stopping to see my son afterwards for lunch and looking at his latest project on the MG Midget.  Starting to feel recovered from the VA trip realizing a week ago we were heading to the course about now after clearing out of the condos and now living vicariously through Jeff's @Jwc5149 accounts of Carnoustie and other places UK.  You know it is where we want to be.  Hope golf is a part of your day!

Good morning spies!

Had a great day yesterday after a successful round of golf in the morning and a chill afternoon on the couch watching golf. Shot one of my lowest scores of the year and really feels like I found some consistency in my game. Hoping it can continue throughout the summer!

Plans for the day involve brunch with my wife and some friends, followed by a Formula 1 watch party at a local bar. As a Ferrari fan, I've been pretty disappointed in their performance this weekend, but maybe they can find some pace today and sneak towards the front.

Seems like it's inevitable that Scottie will walk off the 18th green today and shake Jack's hand after winning the Memorial. Hoping some of the other players can give him a run, but the man is on another level right now.

Good morning everyone! 

I'm sitting on the couch trying to drink my morning coffee with a puppy pile on my lap. Makes it kind of hard to type on the phone, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. 

There's not much in the agenda for today since some rain decided to move in, at least I got my yard mowed yesterday. We also got out and ran around town where I found both a shirt and pair of shorts I loved but they were the wrong size. 

I hope @Jwc5149had fun at Carnoustie yesterday, it seems like it would be a fun and challenging course.

Top of the pot spies .  No golf today but rather some fishing on our Cimarron course lakes.  The course is currently closed for overseed and they are allowing residents to fish the lakes.  Several of us from the Grand Fishing Club are meeting up at 0630, via golf carts, to try our hand at catching some Largemouth Bass on fly rods and transplanting them to Lake 9 at Desert Springs GC.  I also need to test out my 8 weight set-up that is going to God's Lake, Manitoba at the end of the month for Northern Pike .

Not much on the agenda today, however, I did score a range pass from the household CEO and will be heading that way shortly before she has the opportunity to exercise her god given prerogative and change her mind. 

Going to be another hot one, so all of you getting out there today remember to stay hydrated and take every opportunity to cool down when possible.

Good morning MGS Nation. Rough weekend. It started out fantastic: had my putter fitting at Golf Champion, which was eye opening to say the least. My "report" will be in the L.A.B. thread shortly. 
Then I had two tee times set up for the weekend, one each morning and I was psyched to get in some good weather golf! Friday night the much better half and I play Pickleball, something we both look forward to as a great way to finish up the week and get the weekend started! Plus, it's a wonderful workout that you get while truthfully not even realizing you're getting it! Well, then the trouble started. About and hour and a half into Pickleball, I went for a shot and felt what I can only describe as someone taking a knife and plunging it into my upper right calf. Let me tell you about some pain. Right away I tried to stand up, with some great difficulty, but couldn't put my heel down. I hobbled over to the gathering area and I immediately iced it. Saturday morning I woke up and immediately went to a sports orthopedic doctor who "regretted to inform me" that it appears I've torn my gastrocnemius muscle and should stay off of it for a minimum of two weeks. Several four letter words passed through my head. He also set up for me an ultrasound appointment to see if perhaps I may need surgery?! Here we are on Sunday morning, the ice is still being applied to keep the swelling down, the leg is elevated and I'm miserable. I will have to wait until tomorrow morning to set up the ultrasound as the radiologists are closed on the weekends. I still cannot put my heel down comfortably, so even standing up and trying to emulate a golf stance/swing motion are completely out of the question right now. I guess I'm just going to be anxious now waiting to see the radiologists report and tell me when I can get back to golf. Note that I haven't even mentioned going back to work, that's secondary to the ability to swing a club!
I'll be watching the final day of the Memorial with leg elevated and iced wishing for the time when I'll be able to get back to the game I've come to love....

I've got some things to do to cross off my to do list today, however, my wife and I are planning on heading out to the golf course this afternoon. Planning on having a productive day to wrap up the weekend on a high note.

A setback with the spousal unit…the Dr pulled the drains on Wednesday and by Thursday she had a fever. The Dr said that this can happen between pulling drains and bacteria getting in the open ports of her skin. So we’ve been battling that the last 48 hours. She’s on antibiotics and finally is below 100 for the fever. By this evening the antibiotics should be in full effect. Hopefully won’t affect the 13th surgery. I am supposed to play this afternoon but depending on how she feels, I may cancel. I’ve been working on my final review of the Motocaddy but haven’t finalized it yet due to the setback with the spousal unit. I’m hoping by Monday. If you all are playing today hit bombs!

Sorry to hear about this injury, especially given that you were enjoying yourself when it happened. Hopefully the ultrasound will show it to be minor, although painful, and treatment plan can lead to speedy recovery.

So sorry to read this. Our local news channel ran a story on so many folks getting injured playing pickleball. I am one of those folks once. Best wishes for speedy healing.

Good morning Spies,

Uppa with a cuppa on a rainy morning in CNY. Saturday was most productive. I tended to our screeching dryer. I replaced the belt, idler pulley and drum rollers. It took me longer to clean the lint and belt dust out of the dryer than to replace the parts. Thank goodness for YouTube videos. The parts kit was $35 and the need c-clip pliers were $19. Not too shabby. Then I did the lawn ahead of the rain.

Good morning Spies! Back on the road again today. Back being the key word. It's not much better today and it was pretty bad yesterday. I'm even considering not taking my clubs to enforce five days of rest, but if I do that I'll still probably get antsy and go to Golf Galaxy or PGASS for a fix.

It will also be weird checking into the hotel at Fayetteville Wednesday night knowing that a lot of the people there probably came to see the US Open and I can't go . Fayetteville is like 45 miles from Pinehurst and there were very few hotel rooms left even six weeks ago.

Oh well, time for ibuprofen, pack the car and hit the road.

Looks like we'll be getting our round in today, albeit a bit mushy. Rained a bit this morning, but it looks to be stopped until at least 2. So we're going to see how much we can get in with a 9:30am tee time. High humidity, but no sun. Temps around 70. So shouldn't be too horrible, even with the high humidity.

Good morning to all on a sunny Sunday morning.  I woke to a pleasant surprise.  One of my huskies, aka Hazel, the shy one, had an upset tummy and decided to leave some "droppings" for dad in the house during the night.  But, not anywhere.  On both of dad's putting mats in multiple spots and then the yoga mat for good measure.  Thank goodness for a high quality carpet cleaner and shampooer.  Guess she wants me to stop playing with Lab rat.  By the way, she's good as gold this morning.  

@Steve F, I feel your pickleball pain.  Lots of physiotherapy and get better soon.  Hopefully, not too serious.

Good morning, everyone. It's been a great week of vacation with more golf than my body was ready to handle. After a week of caddying 6 out of 7 days followed up with golfing 5 rounds in 4 days, my body is in bad need of a massage. Today will be all about sitting on the couch with my massage gun watching college baseball and the Memorial. Tomorrow begins the long trek home and then back to the grind. I hope everyone has a great Sunday with lots of whatever it is you seek in you plans.

Good Sunday morning spies! Spousal unit is full of piss and vinegar this morning which is a good sign. She got her nails done yesterday, another good sign. I have a tee time with the kids this afternoon which is another good sign. 

I also wrote my final review on the motocaddy. So a productive weekend I think. A round of golf to finish it off will be the cherry on top. Especially with the kids! Have a great day spies!

Thanks. Still fine tuning my drive home but it doesn't look like I be able to stop for 9 holes in Cheyenne like I had hoped. But I definitely see us on the links together in the near future, one way or another.
