Rapsodo MLM2Pro - 2023 Forum Review

I've been debating between the MLM2 PRO and the R10. I prefer the MLM2 because of it's accuracy, I know chip shots are a work in progress. I'm willing to pay the subscription fee, but I want to make sure it *works* without connection issues.

On Amazon there's been almost a suspicious number of 5 star reviews in the last month exclaiming that all the connection issues have been fixed and the product is amazing, yet when I'm on other forums and in the comment sections of recent YouTube videos. I see the exact opposite. People saying the most recent updates have rendered the device unusable, yardages are now off and they're sending it back.

I know the R10 works. But accuracy isn't great. Can anyone share their recent experiences with connections using the MLM2P?

I also haven't really had any connection issues for the past two or so updates.  It's been more reliable than the Original MLM on picking up shots too... It's only missed 3-4 that I would have thought it should have captured.  And a handful more when my son was hitting.  But we may have had the extra balls to close to the hitting area and maybe that caused some blips with the software.

I'll probably end up giving it a shot. It'll be my first launch monitor and I'm excited to have a simplistic setup with accurate data that can add some fun to my routine. I'd be psyched if it works with very few missed shots or connectivity issues, I assume future updates will only make it better over time.

Now that I have a TV mounted in the garage, I’m going to work on the best way to connect my phone to the TV. Has anyone done this? Comparing using a HDMI-USB C cable versus going with Apple TV. Thoughts?

Could use cable or if your TV is a smart TV you should be able to just cast your phone to the TV.

What Rob says about using your own balls is also a big part of it.

I got the template for the same dot pattern as the RPT balls, so I can try different balls and see the difference between spin rates and try to set a baseline if a certain ball brand and model are helping or hurting my game.

I am late to this post so I apologize if this has already been asked. If you are using this device on the course for practice or getting data, do you have to put the dots on your ball for the device to pick the ball up? Thanks

When you purchase the MLM2Pro it will come with 3 marked balls. There are stickers or something which you can get if you want to use other golf balls with them.

The markings are not necessary for the device to pick up your balls, however the dots are designed to pick up spin rate and spin axis, my reasoning to use it is to be able to see how the spin rate is affecting my shots on the course, and being that I have a lot of golf balls on my bag, and trunk of my car, it is easier to just mark the balls rather than buy a bunch of the RTP balls.

I have used bot marked and unmarked balls on the course and they device reads them just fine.

Got to use my MLM2Pro indoors now that the weather is starting to go crappy. Overall, such a solid launch monitor. The only part where it starts to struggle is with higher swing speeds (110+). I feel like the spin gets a little high and the ball speed compared to the carry distances isn't as accurate.

For example, my 3 wood, when hitting on a Skytrak monitor, I was swinging around 110-112 mph. I was carrying around 245-260 depending on the strike. When testing on my MOM2Pro, it said I was carrying around 220, even when struck well. Now, it could've just been a bad ball striking day, but that number never jumped above 224 yards. Similar with my driver as well. All of the irons seem legit, which is where I'm more concerned with numbers, but something to be cognizant of.

Question for the testers.

How level to the hitting surface does the unit have to be?  My driving range slopes away behind the mats and levels out but is still below the hitting surface level.  Would I need to build a platform to bring it up to the same level?

Not overly, but the big difference will be with the impact camera. When on a less level surface it minimizes the area it can capture.

I used my glove compartment to help get things a bit more level on the range.

I think I finally convinced Mrs. Nut to let me get a launch monitor.  I'm leaning towards this one just because of the Android connectivity.

I picked one of these up today after much deliberating I purchased this today and spent about 30 minutes at the range...a couple big reasons for me (and apologies for the brevity, but I'm in a rush):

1.) Range use ... not only is this great for capturing the data AND seeing the swing, but for tracking the ball.  I've had a 2 way miss with the driver lately and honestly it's the thing I like least about the Stealth 2 - I can't tell where the ball is going based on feel and by the time I look up I'll not be able to find the ball.  This worked fantastic in that respect!  I didn't have a chance to try the addition of the phone camera but will soon.

2.) Indoor use - I can use this based on the 16 or so total feet needed (ball to camera, ball to net).  And again, the camera action is a plus here.

3.) Price.|

4.) Short game practice.  Hoping I can use this in my office with a wedge to practice chips and pitches.  Limited info out there on how good this is, so I'll report back when I know more (i.e. tried it out).

After 40 shots I can say the accuracy and consistency was really impressive.  It even picked up a shank!  The shot vision is unbelievable.  Really stoked about this.

Also, at Dick's the coupons work on this thing...here's on for 20% but supposedly only for NY.  I used this today:

Looks like there was a firmware update. It was aimed at picking up chip shots as this was a limitation with the MLM2PRO previously. I got it to register shots as short as 6 yards carry. Pretty impressive imo.

For the price of this unit, I think the whole thing is very impressive. Is it perfect? Well, no. However, the capabilities that it has for under $1,000 is really impressive.

The latest app update now lets you add clubs as a group, which saves some time.  My clubs, Wishon single-length EQ1-NX, were not in the list. I sent a request to Rapsodo support at about 10:00 Monday night, and got an email back the next morning saying the clubs had been added to the database. Nicely done!

On my wish list for the app (which I have sent as a feature request) is to remove the limit on clubs in the bag.  I'm a hobbyist club builder and I like to compare clubs.  I'm spoiled by a few fitting sessions on TrackMan where you get to compare the performance of different clubs in one session.

Its been really nice to see the constant updates they are doing. One day I hope they have a dashboard which can be viewed vs the app.

I think I finally convinced Mrs. Nut to let me get a launch monitor.  I'm leaning towards this one just because of the Android connectivity.

Did she say sure honey treat yourself to a launch monitor, if so great. If she said FINE !! do what you want FREEZE, do  not move do not breathe until the coast is clear then start doing all the things on the honey do list as hard and fast as you can, whatever you do dont buy that LM.

Looks like I'll need to buy some more RPT balls. Not sure about you lot, but the ball dots are just not worth the hassle of application to me. Takes a good five minutes to put a set on then after 5 minutes of beating balls they tear off.

Has anyone had better luck than I? I really wanted to love these things...

@barney_bogey that’s a bit of a bummer about the dots, that had been my plan as well.

The video for applying mentioned keeping the balls/dots at room-temp or warmer. I dunno how much that matters as far as durability/staying on.
