 Got an unexpected early tee time within 5 minutes of arriving so I literally had zero warm up besides stretching at home. After hole 3 it rained for the remainder of the round. Considering the rain and lack of warm up I'm not terribly disappointed, this is my average score. I did nothing incredibly well aside from really dialing in my focus and intention on the back nine for a 43 after a disappointing 47 on the front with two drops. Really hope to build off of the positive "feels" from this round to start "taking dead aim" (-Harvey Pineck) and playing every shot with more intention and control.

Yep! They do a really good job with it. Honestly much better than a lot of courses in the Cincinnati area, so I'm happy to drive 30 min to play it. It's a fun course with all the elevation.

-73 is even better! I think your course handicap is what is skewing the number. It should be closer to your actual handicap than your score. Based on your handicap I would guess it is 3 or 4 rather than 75

Sweet. We played Hickory Woods this morning. On the shorter side, but the course was in decent shape and the price is reasonable. I have similar feelings about Majestic Springs, but it is a decent haul for the folks that live closer to the city.

Honestly, the round was half great and half s***. Had a few birdies, also had threepeat of double bogeys, one of which was a GIR with a f****** 4 putt.... I started to believe I hadn't played before. I had a pairing today with a very nice lady, but had a point of being oblivious is such the wrong way. Hit a driver off the toe, low duck hook (not my miss) and she says, to a stranger, "maybe that driver adjustment shaft could help with that" or I catch a tree 60yds from the tee and still have 400 to the hole and " oh man that was a great shot". Unfortunately wore at my patience as I was trying to duke it out with golf and her hard lessons she likes to teach. On the holes I was hot, it was pretty lights out. Had an 8 iron go almost 200, have me a bit of a scare hahaha. No more smoke which is really nice, 30 degree day too!

This was so much fun.  Highly recommend this course if you are in Las Vegas.  Great service and beautiful course.  I'll post some pics once I download them.  Shot my best round of the year with rental clubs.  Makes me wonder how much my older clubs are hampering improvements.  Had 3 pars in this round and I found that I really like hybrids so I may be looking at those to add to my bag.

Mastership level unlocked!

This was a fantastic round.  Net -7 and 17 net birds!  

Got a good adjustment in my last swing lesson on Friday.  Put it into play yesterday and it paid off in spades.  If I hadn't let myself get sloppy on the back nine I would have had my second ever sub 100 round.  The last hole was actually a sand save, but Eddy forgot to mark it in TheGrint.  My Handicap Index dropped 1.3 points.

A bit of error in short game, a skulled PW on the tee of #12 dunked it, one wiff and a miserable 3 putt from 3'.  Once I clean that up I should be looking at the low 90s.

Anyone not able to get in a round in for the Match Play Week 1?

Plenty of activity on the VCT this week.  Not only did we have the scoring for Week 23 of our 2nd Season, but we also had scores from the first week of the MGS Forum Member Match Play Event!

89 scores posted in all, and plenty of highlights throughout. 

 

Low Net Score

 

This week, we had two Low Net scores from both ends of the spectrum - which is what makes the handicap system so great.  All players with all levels of golf scoring can compete equally against each other... and this week is a perfect representation of that. 

At the top of our Low Net Score list, in one corner we have:

@Mr. Mushball - a 39 handicapper playing at Glendoveer West GC in Portland, OR.  - His gross 103 resulted in a net score of -7 (64) and included a staggering 17 net birdies or better (I can imagine there were a couple of net eagles on that card!)

And in the other corner we have:

@Ben Joest - a 5 handicapper playing at Majestic Springs in Wilmington, OH.  His gross score of 69 (Gross -2... but more on that in a minute) which resulte d in a net score of -7 (64) as well.   Ben also tied for the low gross score this week.  Just Outstanding Play!

This week, I will award the MGS Black Jacket to Mr. Mushball, and celebrate Ben's low gross score with the Low Gross badge (see below).

I mentioned above the Mr. Mushball posted an incredible 17 net birdies or better, but since he is busy getting fitted for the MGS Forum VCT Black Jacket... I will award the birdie badge to:

There were a few, and two pips on a natural birdie gets a net Albatross!
