First day in awhile that my back was not giving me issues. It was like a dream. My playing partners were amazed. This was my best round ever that counted. Three eagles in one round complemented with three birdies and one net birdie. Chipped in three times! Putted like a madman. What a day!

Playing from the white tees is very differnet from the back tees - lots of wedges into the green

Rough time off the tees today as I only hit 6 of 13 fairways. Chipping was much better, but I didn't get many breaks on the green. 3 doubles on the back 9 didn't help either.

Glad I managed to cobble together a sub-90 round, but in wasn't particularly satisfied with today's performance.

I career'ed it this week! I have found the fix for me and feel like my game is finally getting to where I want it to be. My score I feel is the best I have had even though the week for playing golf has been very strange. I have only been able to play in 9-hole increments due to work and family stuff. Additionally, the course out got punched and sanded just after I played my first round so that was interesting. I had a blast playing and I have some fun holes to describe. 

1. Let me start by describing the longest drive. I promise you all this is accurate (my brother can confirm if needed ). The 6th hole on the "West Nine" out here in Snowflake is a 500-yard par 5 that doglegs to the left. I hit my drive on the screws and saw the most beautiful ball fly as the ball cut the corner with exceptional ease. What I was not aware of was when I pulled up to the ball and ranged it I had only 125 yards into the hole! You do the easy math and that equals A 375 YARD DRIVE!!! By far the longest I have ever hit. Now, I do believe that when I cleared the corner the ball landed and a downslope and kicked forward. Still counts though! I only wish I knew what the actual carry yardage was. Now, finishing the hole with only a par was so depressing, I chunked a 50-degree wedge just short, and fatted my lob, leaving me 20 feet to the hole which I subsequently two-putted. So, definitely a little bit of humble pie...
2. My favorite hole of the 18 I played was actually hole 2 on the front nine. My tee shots that day were phenomenal. The best part about this one was that I picked a location I wanted my tee shot to go and it went on a line straight at where I had aimed. Truly one of the most rewarding feelings ever!
3. The final hole to share was hole 4 on the "Back Nine." This hole is actually an elevated tee box with the fairway a significant distance from it and then it doglegs to the right. I aimed to cut just a little bit of the corner. However, I pushed it and it went straight towards a road that runs along the edge of the cart path. I had no idea where the ball ended up so unfortunately I had to hit a provisional which went exactly where I originally intended. When I pulled to the green looking for my first I actually saw it posted up in the back of the green I chip up to 3 feet and finish with an easy BIRD!

It was such a fun week for golf and I am feeling more confident in my swing and my game than I ever have. I certainly hope that the sky is the limit and keeps getting better!

Double/single bogey to start and then 16 pars to finish.

 

I started this round with the Ping G425 Max in the bag, as I wanted to give it another shot. That lasted for the first 6 holes, and after the third sub 250 yd drive. I went to the parking lot and swapped it out for TSr 3. On the Par 5 8th, I hit a 301 yd bomb, thus sealing the Ping’s fate. I still want to try a different shaft with it, but I can’t currently see using it in play again.

All in all, not a bad round, but it would have been nice to capitalize on the handful of birdie chances I had.

My rounds for the last two weeks could be characterized as strangely poor.  Poor in that I haven't even sniffed close to my net par score.   Poor in that I miss hit several easy shots throughout the round and poor in that at times I step up to the ball and have no clue on where it's going!   I know, we've all been there.  But for someone who is distantly challenged, I cannot afford too many needs shots that strong chipping and/or putting can fix.   My round was "strange" in that I had two zero putt holes.  Both times putting the ball in from the fringe (which I never do as I'm typically more comfortable and successful chipping from those locations).  Strange in that I hit a 210 yard drive today.  it was cart path aided, but we won't mention that). 

There were positive moments to walk away with.  On 16 I finally figure out a putting set up issue I was having.   I made an important two putt double bogey by hitting a 14 footer after dumping my tee shot in the water.  On 17 I duck hooked my drive in the water (2 inches in) and proceeded to drop a 20 foot putt from the fringe for a bogey.  On the par five 18 I hit my forth shot within 10 feet and sunk the putt for par.  I also hit a 30-40 ft. downhill putt from off the green on 13 for a (sandy) par too!  Now I just need to remember what i did to improve my overall putting.

Here's the stats.  Again, nothing to write home for.  

Given my recent play, I decided to seek professional help.  Tuesday afternoon I've schedule a lesson with our new assistant pro.  I'm hoping he can see something that I don't and that better scores are on the way!

Played Saturday early afternoon at a local course in less-than-ideal conditions, but that is to be expected here in the Midwest, this time of year.

The weather was cloudy, drizzly, cool, and windy, with a steady wind of 15 - 25 mph from the west.

Made club selection challenging, and that came into play more on approach shots. Hit 8 of 14 fairways, but the others were all very much in play, just off the edges, more due to course layout, doglegs and turns.

Short game, chipping and putting were both good, as I had 6 one putt greens after chipping on, and a total of 30 putts for the round.
