TR1PTIK
I'm finally starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel! It's probably been close to a year since my game started taking a nosedive, but today showed the most promise yet that I might finally be making a return to form. Played bright and early this morning as a single and carried my bag. I was paired with another single who was in a cart. The starter called us to the 1st tee early and then had the next group go off right after us for some reason which meant I immediately felt rushed. Found the fairway with my drive though, but had tree trouble. I intended just to play a low pitch with my 9 iron, but opened it up through impact and shot it up into the tree. I never saw where it went and spent maybe 30 seconds looking before dropping a fresh ball down with the group behind already waiting in the fairway. Opened up again and missed right, hurried up for a chip and a few putts to finish the opening hole +3 (I wound up finding my original ball in a better lie than where I dropped so I chose not penalize myself under the circumstances). From there I'd play the rest of the front at -1 (two birdies, five pars, one bogey)!!! Unfortunately, the stellar play wouldn't hold up on the back 9 and I basically wrote it off. My playing partner wasn't much help with pace or any help at all when it came to finding wayward drives. Wound up claiming 2-3 lost balls that disappeared into the rough. Those balls probably could've been found, but it never seemed to occur to the guy that we both might have a better time if he took 2 seconds to help identify my ball while he was 100 yards ahead of me... Perhaps, it's just my fault for not asking him to help, but the only time we were ever in close proximity was on the green (if he waited for me). I told the guy at the first tee not to let me hold him up since I was walking. Let's just say it was all quite awkward. Now that I'm starting to see some progress in my game, I'll be returning to my "home" course where I never walk and would have to deal with such an issue. I've just been trying to save $ because nothing's worse than paying ~$60/round and feeling terrible about the experience every time you finish. EDIT: In regards to pace, I should add that the round was not exactly slow. We had a foursome (maybe a fivesome, couldn't quite tell) in front of us and still made the full loop in 3 hours and the nines were evenly split @ 1:30/1:31. Popular Post Alf. S
Had a hectic week. Tuesday played Gullane No2 (Scottish Open Venue), 14 over main damage done on 3 holes with a triple (lost ball) and 2 doubles (not taking punishment) being in the rough Wednesday played Gullane No3 getting better but 8 over with again a triple with lost ball and 2 doubles Today Played the Old Course St Andrews for the 1st time, the course was in great nick and we had really good weather enjoyed it didn't score well. High/Low lights. No 7 Rolled back into the Shell bunker on 7. Which is the size of a small green and has an 8 feet face which I was up against, tried to get out sideways and ran round it like the wall of death for a 7 Good birdie on 9 to close the front nine 13 decent drive but left with a blind 2nd didn't check pin position played for the front. This is the the 54 yard long green and pin at the back. Left myself the longest putt I've ever hit 90' or more. Bogey and move on. Partner did hole a 50' for birdie. 17 and 18 you tend to get a lot of walkers/spectators, on 17 I pulled my approach to the left of the road bunker short siding myself to the pin behind, putted up the left of the bunker to 8' and holed the putt. To the approval of the 3 person crowd. 18, was lucky to stay in bounds up the right then hit an 8 iron straight at the pin to the approval of the workmen doing the upgrade to the Russacks hotel but 2 putted for a 4. Popular Post Curtis Atkinson
Another solid round making 5 of my last 6 rounds included in handicap. Putter started off really hot (for me) making a couple putts over 15 feet in the first four holes. Cooled off a bit but stayed pretty solid. Lost concentration down the stretch and was even aware of it, but couldn't get locked in. Odd feeling. 42/48 = 90 6/14 FIR (43%) 3/18 GIR (17%) 32 putts (3 3-putts, 8 2-putts, 7 1-putts) Ended up biting the bullet to join a golf club about 45 minutes from me that was really affordable. Obviously looking forward to the unlimited golf but what I'm really looking forward to is the ability to really work on my golf game. I've found it difficult when paying for a round to go out with any mindset other than just playing best round possible, or feeling like you're wasting money. Really looking forward to days of getting out, spending an hour working on my game at the range, playing 9 holes in "practice mode", and chipping/putting for an hour and not feeling like I wasted money towards a round. Or taking a large bucket to the wedge range and not hitting a shot over 100 yards and spending $15 to hit a large bucket of wedges. Popular Post MrBandit
Played yesterday evening, while it was still HOT AF. played a decent round. 40 / 39 = 79 57% FW hits (some of the misses where just off) 39 GIR% - need to improve this stat. 30 Putts Let's me just say that the my new combination of TourEdge EXS Pro and Nippon Regio MB+ 65S has been fantastical. Been able to step into the first tee and Send it down the shoot and knowing your are going to be in the fairway or just barely off. Is a great feeling, building confidence. Or getting to a couple of the tight holes on the course. Had some lazy bogeys, as I loose concentration in the round. but held it together on the hard back 9. Overall I like where my game is heading.. need to work in those GIR, i really a lot on my short game to bail me out most times. Popular Post bens197
I chose to not play in the District qualifier that was scheduled for today just because I really don't have "it" this season. Probably could have limped around the course but I figured there were more guys who really want a shot to play Oak Hill and that was good enough logic for me. So today, Dad and I went to a course we used to play with his father (my grandfather) 20 years ago. Started out with a superb triple bogey and settled down to shoot 40/40 with 2 birdies & 8 pars. I am really falling out of love with my TW wedges. Short game was always something I was so proud of, I loved how I could put a 52 or 56 in my hand and throw darts. Today was the nail in the coffin for me and enough reasoning to replace them. They look fantastic but functionally, they just do not work well for me. I had 9 approaches inside of 110 and 6 inside of 60 yards and played those 9 holes +4. The search to replace them is underway. Looking at the new Edel's, SM8's, Hogan Equalizer 2's and we'll see where it goes from there. Popular Post Berg Ryman
So I played a rare beast today, a 12 hole course. It's a place build on the grounds of an RV Park called Streamside. Shot a 51, or +4. You wouldn't mistake it for a pristine palace and the design of the course appears to be done by people who haven't played golf before. But it offers challenge due to its tightness due to lack of land and also the pin placements, some of which cut 2 paces from the edge of greens. In all, a fun enough afternoon. edingc, CarlH, Kenny B and 7 others 9 1 Quote In a Hoofer Lite bag TSR2, 10 degrees, A1 setting, Fujikara Speeder NX Blue 50-S Stealth, 15 degrees, VA Composites Nemesys 70-S E722, 19 degrees, Oban Devotion 80-S JPX 921 Hot Metal Pro 4-P, Nippon 950GH Stiff Flex CBX Zipcore 50* (bent to *49) and RTX Zipcore Tour Rack 54* (bent to *55), DG 115 Spinner, Tour Issue Staff Model TG 60*, Dynamic Gold 120 S300 SIK Golf Flo-C Tour B-XS (2022 Model)
Popular Post sirchunksalot
I was able to get out today and play nine. It was absolutely gorgeous out, mid 80's with enough of a breeze most of the round to keep me from suffocating. My round started off better than usual fairway/green on the first followed by a three jack for bogey. Second hole, par 3, green/2 putt for par. Then the wheels feel off. Took an 8 on a par 5 followed by a 7 on a par 4. My driver, irons, fairways, and wedges were all terrible. Tops Chunks Thins Shanks I can honestly look back at my round and say that I didn't hit a single "golf shot". I was just able to advance the ball toward the hole and eventually get it in the hole. The damage: shot a 56, hitting 4 fairways, 2 greens with 19 putts. On a positive note, I did go in the clubhouse and buy another range pass as an act of faith. edingc, Rickp, CarlH and 11 others

Popular Post cjeffs12
Had a really relaxing round this morning, beat the heat, and so many guys grinding and even some doing Matt Wolf’s swing. It was nice seeing everyone just so happy to just be playing golf at the muni. They had temporary greens because our greens are still hurting from that winter storm. So with that in mind, I would play amazing lol I shot 74, and it’s crazy because my swing did not feel good. Too many over draws, but I got so many lucky kicks back to the fairway, I usually only pull driver 4 times at the course because of all the trees but I used it on most holes because it was just so straight(ish). Peaksy68
Played in a 4BBB, a rare morning round as we struggled to get on the timesheet in the afternoon. Course was playing very long off the back marks and lots of recent rain. My round was very much a better ball round, equal parts good and bad. Started with a birdie for the second round in a row. Drove the ball well but struggled with 40-60 yard pitches. Leaked a series of soft bogeys through the middle of the round. Played the last 5 in 1 under, with a couple of putts just missing. Hitting greens in regulation certainly makes scoring a lot easier. Adjustments to my setup and posture are still a work in progress but seem to be getting there Kenny B, Curtis Atkinson, MattF and 5 others 8 Quote 849 Pro Evenflow Riptide 6.0 F8 3 & 5 Woods Project X Evenflow Blue 6.0 TS2 7 Wood Project X Evenflow Blue 6.0 MP18 MMC - Project X LZ 5.5 Zipcore Wedges 50,54,58 - Project X LZ 5.5 MLA Tour Mallet 33" Z Star Pioneer bag buggy
Northern Monkey
I had a good round today by my standards, 90 (45/45), which is a net -7. 42% FIR 22% GIR and 30 putts. Had a couple of awful holes tho with 2 trebles and one where I hit 3 off the tee, the first 2 both going in the water It’s getting better though and I’m hoping to improve some more now I’ve started playing regularly Edited June 19, 2021 by Northern Monkey Typo MaxEntropy, sirchunksalot, GolfSpy_SHARK and 6 others 9 Quote Driver: G430 Max Fairway: LTDx Max 3 wood Hybrid: Mavrik 3 hybrid Irons: Mavrik 4-AW, Wedges: Jaws MD5 50 and 56 wedges Putter: Mallet Ball: Chrome Soft

Popular Post Kenny B
I haven't played since last Sunday; I have been working on the PlaneMate protocols. Today my wife was playing with the Ladies group. I didn't have a tee time, but the ladies only had two groups and I was able to join them. It is getting hot during the day, but at 7:30am, it was pleasant so I walked the front nine; rode in a cart the back nine since it was in the mid-90's when we finished. When I was on the 1st tee, I was waiting for the clubhouse to announce over the loudspeaker... "Will the gentleman on the Ladies tee please move back to the Men's tee." (I was actually standing there while my wife teed off, and Yes, my drive was past the Red tees!!!) Started OK at +1 through the first 4 holes, but strung bogeys together on 5, 6, 7, and 8... so a +5 score 42. I started the back nine with another bogey, but parred 11 and 12. Then I strung 3 birdies in a row on 13, 14, and 15. Sadly, I limped in with bogeys on 17 and 18... so an Even par 35 back nine. A decent round of 77 and no blowup holes. Popular Post RollingGreens
40/45 for an 85. Started having some minor driver issues on the back 9. Putted a lot better today. Didn’t practice all week with anything except for my putter. Putting quality was a lot better today. I’m starting to have round where I score well but don’t necessarily play fantastic. I wouldn’t say I’m scrambling but in the past I needed to be in the fairway to have a shot to score and now my iron and wedge play give me a strong chance every round. Well, the narrative was about as lackluster as my play today .... Really putted poorly today...41 on the front was all due to poor putting. The 40 on the back had 2 doubles (10,17) and 2 birdies (back to back on the par 5 #12 and the par 3 #13), but the last 2 holes left a bitter taste in my mouth. After driving the ball decently all day, the drive on 17 and 18 were off the toe and equally damaging, requiring punch outs. On 17, I chunked a chip and walked off with a double and 18 I managed to save a bogey.
