2.75 inches of rain yesterday....strong winds, not a whole lotta damage in north Iowa, a lot worse in central Iowa.   Praying for those in Greenfield, Iowa.  It was 51 and a little breezy this morning.....played OK, didn't get up and down like I usually do.  Cart path only on front, and this pond isn't supposed to be here!

My best round of the year. I had 3 birdies including a chip in for birdie on #18. I had quite of few lip outs too. My driving could have been a little better. I had a draw with my drives starting out. I usually play with a fade.

Thank you. It was just one of those day. We got chased off the course by thunderstorms after 10 holes today. I wasn’t playing as well today.

Just as an update, when my GHIN handicap updated early this morning, I noticed that there must have been a ration of good scores yesterday as there was a Playing Condition Calculation (PCC) of -1 for that round.  I guess the soft and rain soaked receptive greens yielded better scores than the poor putting surface.

Even though GHIN recognizes my round's differential effectively as an 80, I'm still counting it as a 79 and the ball goes on my personal golf wall of fame!

I save the golf balls that I either break 80 or have something special happen.  The special happenings include the few eagles I've had, the first time I shot even par for nine holes, played three rounds in Mrytle Beach with the same golf ball, etc.  When I have empty spots, I fill them with interesting found logo balls, poker chip ball markers and golf balls from courses I've played or rated for FSGA, and nice-looking challenge coins from various organizations (Homeland Security, Naval Air Station Key West, Rotary, etc.).  The ribbon and medallion of the left is from the 25th Key West Half Marathon.   No...I didn't run it!  I just volunteered and they gave it to me anyway!

Did you know that if you hit GIR you can score better?  It's true, try it sometime.  22% GIR on the front, hence the 41.  89% on the back, missed a par 3 green.  But got it up and down.  Bad 3 putt on the Par 5 on the back.

Just finished a golf lesson before this round.  Had my worse front nine of the year with a 49 front, 39 back.  Started to feel more natural of a move on the back nine, lol.  Swing changes are tough.

Today was a "normal" day of golf.  

My fairways hit was about right at 79%. 

I'm a little encouraged with my Greens in Regulation.   Though I hit only 11%, I ended with one approach long, two to the right and two to the left.  That left about 60% short, which is lower than usual.  The five up and downs for par is about typical.  That didn't include the three up and downs I had for bogey (which could have yielded a double if not for chipping it close and making the putt.

My putting was a little better on these aerated greens.  They have entered their slow (not mowed for over a week or two) and bumpy time.  I did have one three putt.  It was an outcome of a bladed sand wedge miss leaving me 40 plus foot away in a tricky sever downhill putt.

44/39 my putting let me down today (4) 3-jacks and I struggled on the par-5's which is normally my strength. First time playing here, fun track and the course was very well maintained.

Rating 68.3 and slope 120. Hit the ball very well. I deserved a better score. I was pounding the ball and making great swings. However, the greens had been sanded and were bumpy and slow. Highlight today was on number 3 a par 5. Hit the drive 352 and had a gap wedge in which I hit to 13 feet. Lipped out the putt! Can’t wait till the greens heal!

The front nine was horrendous, ending up with +12. But I got it together a little better on the back nine, parring four holes for a +8. 

Also, I think I’m finding a better rhythm using Shot Scope.

I need to change my mindset from “I hope I make par” to “I want more birdies” right at the tee box. We’ll see how it goes next time.

Beautiful Day! Nice course; LONG-ish (6350) from the white tees. A little wind helped and hurt, as it does. Played with a couple work friends and had a blast!

Played Wednesday morning, 2 groups behind a Ladie's League, and in front of a jampacked, crowded course.

It was a picture-perfect day as far as temperatures were concerned, but very windy, steady 20+ mph with gusts up to 35+ mph.

About a 5 1/2 to 6 hour round made for a long day. Waited on every shot, and more than a few minutes each. Not what I envisioned when I went out, and scores reflect that.

3 Net Birdies (1 natural) 260-yard-long drive and used an older putter with poor results.

Hoping for better scores and round times next week.

Posting this weeks score first as it's more relevant.  Have one from last Sunday that I couldn't post when I got home so missed the posting window.

Ball striking has been much improved!  Still need plenty of work on chipping (and therefore putts suffer) and have a lot of room for improvement there, but closing the distance is getting easier.  Especially given that I'm keeping woods out of play except from off the tee.  No driver, just 4w and 6-SW.  Hit my handicap on a relatively tough course this week!
