It was a hot day at the office today, peaked at 105F. Hot but not too hot. Played well, best score at this track by 13 strokes. Definitely played within myself, only used my driver 2x and didn't try and muscle any irons tried to club up and swing smooth worked out pretty well. Had one unfortunate hole leading to a triple on the number one handicap but didn't let it affect the rest of the round. Bounced back with a birdie right after. Still need to get my short game in check. Struggled with short chips and pitches, but my putter kept me in the money.

With my course handicap of 11, I shot -2 net today!  Breaking 80 doesn't happen that often for me.  But today was the day!

Today was a good day!  I rarely break 40 on the front and I shot a 38 on the front including a birdie on the par 5 third hole with a long putt.  Though the front score was great, the thing I'm probably most happy with my game was that I had to par my last three holes to break 70.  I had a two-putt par on 16, a one putt sandy par on 17 and a one putt par on the long par 5 eighteenth hole.

image.png.0a5d0a2ef7115961683b58aed72cdd75.png

When faced with a certain double bogey, I was able to squeak out a bogey!  On  the par 4 seventh hole I hit a long drive for me leaving me about 137 yards down wind to a green protected by a bunker in front, mangroves on the right and trees on the left.  I pulled my second shot into the mangroves, took a drop and proceeded to get up and down for bogey.

My fairways hit was a little low for me at 64%.  A few misses were by less than 2 feet off the fairway.  The 17% greens in regulation was better than usual as was the six up and downs for pars.  I also had three up and downs for bogeys which could have yielded a double or two.  I'm was really happy with the 25 putts including two or three rather long ones for par.

Fingers crossed for continued scoring like this!

Was a particularly unexceptional round. Nothing terrible but ball striking was not crisp, and I was pulling everything left. Not so bad that it caused major trouble but bad enough that I didn't five myself any legitimate birdie opportunities. Distance control with putter as much better and had several tap ins remaining but never got any of the long ones to fall.

@GolfSpy_BEN, noticed changes in round entry sheet this week, no course handicap, but appears something has really affected the spreadsheet calculations? I won't be surprised if you're already on it.

Yes. We are working to get the entry sheet cleaned up. The net score to par is throwing some folks off, but given that course handicaps do not and haven’t factored into the scoring this season, all the info I need is still present. I’m particularly happy with the inputs for course rating and slope, so I can quit pestering folks to add those data points to their posts.

Hate to post a 9 hole score, but I played with my dad today and didn’t have the time to finish the round. I’m used to walking a round 3 hours or less, but today’s 9 holes took almost 2 hours 45 minutes. Dad was ready to quit after 3 holes took an hour.  I really didn’t enjoy waiting 15 -20 minutes for each shot. Hit my driver well for me today

Was invited to a new course today - the Tampines Course at Tanah Merah Country Club. It's located alongside one if the runways at the international airport here in Singapore, so lots of planespotting while playing.

The course was playing 6,423m (7,065yds) from the blues today, making it extra challenging. Between rain, threatening lightning and the beating sun, we managed to complete 18 on a relatively quiet day - I think everyone else bailed assuming it would be a washout.

Can't really complain about my play today -  some silly mistakes that should have been avoided if I didn't go for the hero shots. Putting was pretty good today - only 28 putts needed to get home.

The front 9 at Baja Country Club is a lot more technical than the back 9 is. The front 9 has the opportunity to use more clubs out of the bag off the tee and has 4 holes where H2O comes into play (more often than not). It was on the front 9 where I shot a 48. I had three triple bogeys and a double bogey to go along with some nice scramble pars.

The back 9 is more influenced by the wind as defense. It has much more of a links feel. Against the wind going out and with the wind coming in. The holes allow for driver off the tee, except for the two par 3's. I had a smooth 40 on the back. I even birdied the tough par 5 13th hole. That hole plays long because of the wind in our face. More pars than bogeys made for a much better tasting beer after the round.

Tee shots were good,  struggled a bit on approaches, short game wasn't bad but need to learn how to hit shots with more spin, and putting was mediocre.

With a sore back, I had to play smart golf and club up some, and it seemed to work  IMG_6434.jpeg.7afa6389a34e26715b71fd23b2139ac8.jpeg

I am happy with 29 putts.  Wish I would have made a few more birdie putts, but I never did adjust fully to the slow greens.

Nice shooting! Taking it easy clearly worked well. Looks like a nice scenic course.

Played a round this afternoon with another couple we were paired up with and my daughter.

Extremely slow play for the front 9, as we followed a couple foursomes that took at least 4 shots before they were clear or out of range from our tee shots.

Consistent scoring for me on both sides, 41 and 41 but a mixed bag of GIR for each nine.

Hit 8 of 14 fairways, but only 5 of 18 greens, with only 1 GIR on the back nine. Most misses were long or left, more due to my going for pins that maybe I should not have. Short game was good, and it bailed me out with numerous one putt greens on the back nine. 33 total putts for the 18 holes, and no three putt greens.

Used a very different club set make-up for myself today, just trying to make determination of which clubs actually stay in the bag.

Some great shots and results, and some that missed long and left due to too much right to left.

Saw some Sand Cranes, and a cool looking black bird with yellow stripes on its wings. Did not make that birdie putt where the bird is on the green either.

Hoping for more practice and rounds next week.

A "better" round than the one played on Thursday at the same course.  Gross wise two shots worse, but for HC reasons it turned out with a lower differential.  Played for skins this round to see how The Grint handled it and wound up taking the pot.  Too lazy to get the screen shots off of the phone to post here tonight, but had 9 to 4 and 2.

Worked a bit on setup and grip consistency before each shot.  Mostly improved aside from holes 6-8 for the most part and had some trouble.  Also fell down on #15 after a good drive where it missed just right.  Had 3 GIRs, two on par 3's.  That's a rarity for myself.
