Ok i dont know how all these are showing sideways ans from the front. I took them both landscape and portrait and they got turned.

 

The AP2 is in my left hand and the AP3 in my right. Its the one with a mark on the face.

So I hit a lot of the AP1 and AP3 and even a few with the TMB thrown on for fun.

 

I hit the AP3 well enough on my solid shots. But i tended hit some fat and they were no good on those at all. Just dug in an resluted in like 30 yard chunks

 

It wasn't a ton of them but still it was there.

 

Then I hit the AP1 and let me tell you. It may be the best GI iron out there right now.

 

They aren't even to my specs. Just standard length and lie and they just went. Where we were hitting didn't have any distances. But I have to say I was getting the 7 iron out to at least 150. Which is 15 to 20 yards longer than my Srixon or Hot Metals.

 

I hit the new Tensi graphite shaft as well as the AMT Rsd which I liked a lot.

 

I could play the AP3 fine. But I bet I would lose at least a couple strokes per round due to fat shots.

 

I don't feel like that would be as true with the AP1

 

And I have to say. They look very nice for a GI. I should have taken a close up of it. But you can tell from the stock photos in post 1 here. It looks pretty good for a GI!

I believe it's the camera angle.

The camera probably adds some. The AP2 has very little. The AP3 has a little but not a ton.

I was definitly more consistent with the 1 than the 3. Didn't even try the 2's.

 

The only extra length 3 I could find was a PX 6.0. Probably a bit stout for me. Might be the reason my results with the 1 were better. I tried the AMT Red in thst snd it is R I believe.

I saw quite a few cool ones on guys bags. Should have taken some pics (fail). I understand Scotty Cameron does an event like this and possibly Footjoy as well. Both on a much smaller scale.

So for the tournament they had us playing up a tee (119 yards) and I left it short left with s 9 iron. Pitched on from drop and two putted for double.

 

They also had a 718 Demo tent set up at the Playees tees 139 yards. And we could try any club we wanted. I tried the AP3 7 iron but with a shaft not to my length, weight or flex. Recipe for succes....right. Hit hit solid but came over the top and hit it long left.

I like the AP3 well enough. Here's the thing as 17.9 index, with the right shaft I think it could play it just fine without looking like a fish out of water. The sole is a bit thinner than I'm used to and of the dozens of shots I hit with it at demo day (with a shaft not close to my specs) I had a few misses that were fat and ugly. It still intrigues me. I will give it another shot with shafts to my specs.

 

But I hit the AP1 solid, shot after shot after shot and probably 15 yards longer than my current Srixon or Mizuno iron. But it had a very good shaft for me and was the proper length.

 

We didn't get to see the AVX. I thought they might surprise us with some. But I ordered a dozen from the pro shop and they will send them to me when they get in next week.

Oh yeah, very familiar. I used to be a member at Renditions and played it regularly. I first played TPC Sawgrass about 10 years ago. At that particular time I was playing Renditions weekly, and I told everyone at the time, they got the replica just about perfect. I will say 17 seemed a bit smaller this time than I remembered. But it's probably because the first time I played it was shortly after The Players and all the grandstands and boxes were still up. Probably made it look differently.

LOL...almost all of it. But I'll have to wait until I can go to a fitting and see the actual Numbers. I was basing my guesstimate on comparing balls I hit during the demo on Thursday afternoon vs warmup balls the next morning. I was hitting from the exact same spot on the range, to the exact same target green.

It was completely open to anyone. However members on the TeamTitleist forum and email list got initial word on it in May.

 

Its free to signup, just like any forum. The past two years the event did fill up within two or three days of the announcement. So if your interested next year, be ready to jump on it.

 

The past two years it has been this same week and is usually announced in May or June.

Sorry missed this question earlier. The regular range had NXT Tour balls.

 

During the demo it was mostly ProVs
