Shocker of the day #1 - going with CBX wedges exclusively - 49, 54, 60. I was chipping with the 60 and swore I was using an RTX-3. Eddie the fitter didn't tell me what is was, and it was pretty clean - no chunks, great soon and I could open it up as much as I needed. When I looked at it I was surprised!!

 

Eddie said about 80% of his short game clinic customers now leave with the CBX wedges

Thats great. I have to try these things.

 

I met with our Clevelamd/Srixon rep two weeks ago and we talked about doing the short game clinics at our course next year.

 

They are really a great deal if people look into them.

Hey gang!

 

Tomorrow is the big day where 2 lucky forum members will be jetting off to Huntington Beach, CA to visit Cleveland Golf and get fit like a pro for a full bag of new sticks. We will have access to the new line of HB Woods, HB Irons, CBX irons and wedges along with the RTX wedges, Huntington Beach & TFi Putters and Srixon balls and everybody comes home with 14 new clubs driver through putter.

 

Our two lucky members for this trip are:

Jiro

 

They will be joined by Golfspy Barbajo and Golfspy Meyer. We'll be heading out early tomorrow AM and then will have a full afternoon of fitting followed by dinner. Wednesday morning will be a tour of the HQ followed by a round of golf with our new sticks in the afternoon.

 

We will all be posting in this thread and you can also follow along on social media via Twitter and Instagram. Make sure to follow Mygolfspy, Golfspy Barbajo and Golfspy Meyer for all the live action.

Meyer and I both hit them at the end of the day - good God those things are silly easy to hit, so simple and consistent. A little too high and skinny for me now, but I have a feeling in about 8 To 10 years these might be my Social Security present.

The Launcher HB irons seem to be for the similar market as the Bridgestone JGR Hybrid irons, except the Launchers are hollow and the JGR irons are forged.  I remember that you hit the JGRs on your visit to Bridgestone; did they feel similar?  From your words they seem to hit similar.

 

I bought the Bridgestones a few months ago, and I couldn't be happier.  You were right, they are stupid easy to hit.  Just what I needed!!

How did you guys decide what putter to get and what irons to get??

On the putters I already knew I wanted to try out the TFI line since I am already gaming a Huntington Beach model. Also since my HB putter is a blade, I wanted to go with a mallet for something different. The Cero head suited my eye the best. The milling pattern in the TFIs is variable with the idea of promoting consistency on miss hits so this tech intrigued me—similar to what a few others are trying to do in putter technology.

How were the Launcher HB irons and were they on anyone's radar?

I liked them and considered getting the for the long clubs but ultimately went with the hybrids instead.

Spent most of my phone time today on Instagram stories but man has this been a blast.

 

I went for this for specs.

 

Driver - HB 9 degree hzrdus yellow 6.0

Fairway - 3 & 5 hzrdus yellow 6.0

Hybrid - 22 degree hzrdus Black 6.0

Irons - CBX 5-PW Nippon Modus 125 stiff

Wedges - 50 & 54 CBX, 58 RTX-3 and same shafts as irons

Putter - TFi Cero, 34” and midsize grip

 

I did hit the HB irons and like John said they were a blast to hit. Not right for my game but I couldn't stop smiling the whole time I was hitting them.

 

And as for the sand game with John I'm not admitting defeat until we can see it on the course.

 

I will however concede the putting contest. He can roll the rock!
