Great topic, and one my buddies group regularly visits (including those that were prestigious/expensive and probably not worth the hype).  But here are my favorites:

1.  Old Course.
2. Pebble Beach
3. Kingsbarns
4. Erin Hills
5. Carnoustie
6. Whistling Straits - Straits
7. Turnberry Ailsa (it's too bad association with Trump mars this course's rep, because it really is a great track and beautiful...somewhat Pebble Beach-esque)
8. Giants Ridge - Quarry
9. Whistling Straits - Irish
10.  Prestwick

Mizuno ST200G driver, Diamana White stiff

Mizuno ST200 Tour Spoon 3 wood, Diamana White stiff

Titleist TSR 7 wood, stiff

Pebble Beach

Spanish Bay

Olympic Club

Bandon Dunes

In no particular order, The Old Course, Oakland Hills South, Bandon Dunes, Pacific Dunes, Old MacDonald,  Plantation, Mauna Kea, PGA West Stadium, Prestwick and Dallas Athletic Club.

Callaway Driver, 4 and 7 fairways.  Mizuno 923 Hot Metal 6-LW.  A friend told me my swing is as smooth as Tennessee Whiskey.  If so, I often think it may have come out of the barrel to soon.

Love looking back at the courses I have played! Only been playing for a few years, so I look forward to seeing my top 10 change! Mostly West and Northern Michigan courses at this point.

  1. Tobacco Road (Sanford, NC)
  2. Forest Dunes (Roscommon, MI)

  4. Pilgrims Run (Pierson, MI)
  5. St Ives (Stanwood, MI)
  6. Rocky River Golf Course (Concord, NC)
  7. Tot Hill Farms (Asheboro, NC), sounds like this course is being renovated back to how Mike Strantz built it out, will need to get back!
  8. Diamond Springs (Hamilton, MI)
  9. The Mines (Grand Rapids, MI)
  10.  The Loop at Forest Dunes (Roscommon, MI). Putting this as a placeholder as I haven't played it yet but I'm playing there next week. Reversible Tom Doak Design that I get to play both routings in the same day. Fully expect this to move towards the top of the list, even if the experience along gives it that bump

Carnustie, Peeble. Firestone north and South, Sciota CC, Old Warson Belreive, Innsibrook Copperhead, TPC Scottsdale, Colonial.

Played golf for over 50 years until my health and business calendar reduced my time to less then 5 rounds a year. Then 4 years ago I retired, changed my diet and lifestyle, lost 100 pounds and got back on the course. Its been a struggle but things are getting better.

I have been lucky to have played many great courses in my years of playing.  I started listing below and listed ones that came to mind quickly.

PGA National - Champ - Palm Beach Gardens

Ballen Isles - (Old PGA National) East Course - Palm Beach Gardens

Pinehurst #2

Pinehurst #8 (Centennial)

Salem Country Club - Peabody, MA

Jupiter Hills Country Club - Hobe Sound

TPC - Jacksonville

TPC - Tampa

Crooked Stick G.C. -Carmel

The Pete Dye - W.V.

Brickyard - Indy

Stonehenge G. C. - Fairfield Glade

A former plus handicapper who must settle for mid 70s to mid 80 scores today.  After taking 10 years off due to back issues, my driver length has decreased by 40 yards on average.  I look forward to any training aids, shaft improvements, club enhancements to get back part of what was lost.

This list is ever changing, and I feel certain that it will change again in September when I travel to Ireland to play. As things stand today however, my list is as follows:
1) Quaker Ridge Scarsdale, NY
2) Maidstone East Hampton, NY
3) Baltusrol (lower) Springfield, NY
3) Pinehurst #2 Pinehurst, NC
5) Torrey Pines (south) La Jolla, CA
6) Mid Pines Pinehurst, NC
7) Ocean Course Kiawah Island, SC
8 Deepdale Manhassett, NY

I have said that if you told me I could only play a single course for the rest of my days, I would choose Quaker Ridge.

Your list will most likely change after your trip to Ireland. Have Fun!
