We do what we can! 

With a massive influx of new members I think it's important to continue to guide them to the right spots.

There is so much on the forum and it can be a bit intimidating at times. 

Plus truly I love seeing new ppl get involved and eventually part of testing. Fresh ideas, the excitement they show for taking part in their first test and much more.

Happy to provide as much information as possible for the membership and new members joining. 

At least for me (remember the whole forum staff selects testers not just one person) I look at recent activity for applicants. Even if you are new and have been regularly posting and active that is a huge plus for me. A long term member won't get a test just because they are a long term member, especially if they have not really been active in some time. I of course truly appreciate all of our members new and long time, but just because someone has been a member for 5 years or however long and has a history of posts, but hasn't in the last year or so doesn't excite me for a selection. 

In similar vein, for those who have previously been selected for high ticket items (dollar value and like Cobra series) are likely to get a smaller ish item the following season. I also have much higher expectations for those tests and reviewers in not only the reviews, but follow up and general activity after they have finished the review. 

Finally the Cobra series. This in my opinion is a once in a lifetime thing. Members get a chance to take part of this event as a tester once. It is such a cool opportunity and unique experience I personally believe that we should want to get more people involved in it year over year and don't think it would be fair for someone to take part twice. Again a personal feeling of mine. 

We have so many great new members that I cannot wait to have them involved in testing this season!

It is important to us that we keep to what we say what we are about. 

We want to select new people for testing, but are not just going to do it to do it. We still want great reviews. 

Thankfully we have had a great group of new members which have really taken to the forum and been excited to participate in a variety of areas. It has been fun to see and get them involved!

This, 100% FACTS. I got active on the forum last year, and not just signing up for and posting in testing threads, and here I am almost a year later participating in the Cobra Challenge. And while I am obviously incredibly excited to be participating, if I had not been selected it would not have deterred my participation in the forum. I genuinely look forward to getting on here everyday.

I am one of them, and I can say it is definitely cool! Not quite brand new to the forum, but my first test ever!

... Seems like you have struck a nice ratio. I think any organization should reward long time/veteran/senior members/employees for their years of service. But new blood is the lifeline for most everything and rewarding those that buy in also need to be rewarded so they too will one day be a senior member/employee.

Did you know that if a member only ever posts in testers Wanted or signs up for testing opportunities they chances of being selected are slim to none?

Just being honest.

We look at recent activity, forum participation and over several periods of time to ensure we have the best possible candidates for each test!

You’re just gonna call me out like that? Just kidding. I assumed as much, I keep wanting to poke around and get involved with the forums. Just haven’t found my entrance point yet, between twitter, kids, job, owning an older home I just need to find the time to get started on the forums. I’d imagine once I get involved in a thread/convo I’ll be hooked talking golf with the crew.

Welcome to the forum.   Drop by the good morning thread and just say good morning to everyone.   If you have a favorite piece of equipment give it a review.   Tell us what's in your bag and why....along with some photos.   Did you play are round,  tell us how it went.

Haha not at all. More just being upfront and honest about it for all the newer people around. By no means do we hide or try to make it difficult to become a tester. The more people we have being involved the better and the more testing opportunities we can leverage in the future. 

Everyone has a life outside of the forum and every has different levels they can dedicate to spending time here. In the end we just look for simple participation and engagement as when we are giving free gear to people to review we need to trust that an actual review will be done and published!

And what a great first post you made!  It's true we have limited amount of time available for where we are going to be spending it online so finding a good option is golden, and I think you have found it here as I have.  Hope it is a good fit for you and hope to see many more of your posts, welcome in!

I’ve been following MGS site for many years to get reviews and insights with golf equipment. I would like to be one of those that provides honest reviews of equipment. Thank you.

@GolfSpy_APH I cannot figure out what I am missing that is keeping my profile at only being 50% complete. The only thing I can tell that I am missing is listing a handicap and a Twitter account. I don't have a Twitter account and I've never obtained a handicap rating. Am I missing anything else? Thank you for your assistance. I would like to hit the 75% mark to ensure I'm eligible for test.

For Twitter account just put NA and for handicap you can put a rough idea. Doesn't need to be exact. I will look at the other section for you now.
