The Good Morning Thread

Happy Sunday morning, Spies! Did a Fit For Golf workout in the living room while watching Bears-Jags and trying to prevent cat fights. This particular workout didn't put much strain on the shoulder and included one of the exercises Mike recommended for shoulder rehab. Will add another one now. Hoping that rehab will continue to push surgery down the road.

Gave my TV remote a workout last night, flipping back and forth between three college football games and the US-Panama soccer match. All were pretty interesting, two went overtime and one came down to the final play.

If golf is in your plans, hit 'em straight and putt 'em straighter!

I'm a substitute/standby player, but also the official for one of the 3 hole in one challenge holes.  

Then home to smoke up some delicious meats and sides for my son and daughter in law anniversary.

No golf again, though the course is looking fantastic. I took the ebike out yesterday for a ride along the cart paths. They have started mowing the new rye grass mix and the fairways are looking pretty well filled in. So just maybe the season of mud will be shorter this year. Plus this year the course is shut down for a full 3 weeks. 

Until then it is getting the rear patio ready for use, biking, carving and maybe some art welding. 

Here is the pumpkin. The face is done and most of the major work. I still have some work around the stem and some smoothing to do before painting.

Good morning Spies,

It’s a rainy and cold morning in Central NY. My lovely wife requested something sweet for breakfast so I took my cuppa to go and hit the bakery. Yesterday was a yard work day. Lasagna was made for our anniversary dinner.
 

As always @BIG STU is good for a story. In days of old he would have been the villager responsible for passing down the history.

As @Cfhandyman has pointed out, I can feel our golf season coming to a close. The temperatures are dropping as are the leaves. Long pants and quarter zips will be the norm as the lows start to dip into the 30s. Rain is now in the cards for the next few days and looks like no golf until Thursday.

Good morning spies,

After a long, count em.....15 holes yesterday at California Country Club. I'm pretty beat today. Nothing except the greens were cut, I'm guessing to let the course heal a bit, and it made it a tough go. Regardless, the course was beautiful.

So with that said, no golf on the agenda today. The Fiancé and I are finally going to decorate for Halloween which we've put off for 13 days too long. This is my favorite time of the year so I am going to be absorbed in 'Spooky Season' vibes for the next 18 days.

I'm still thankful that you and your fellow spies that live down in that area are ok.

I was talking to my sister the other day and they keep an RV down near the area and go over to Anna Maria Island and vacation there. They received severe damage to it and don't know yet if it's a total loss. Windows were damaged and I think they said there's holes in the side. I hate it for her, she lives going down there and after the time she's had fighting cancer, it breaks my heart. Things can be replaced, though.

I'm glad her con job was unsuccessful. Concussions are not a trifling matter, in the short term or long term. She's pissed now but in 40 years she'll be glad she let her brain heal.

I’m just going to throw this out and see if it sticks.

Johnny Cash once, or thousands of times said he walked the line.  The story teller he is, it is hard to believe that walking the line is even close to a bad idea.  In modern times, Zach Bryan has been known to also mention those words on occasion… and I think he is on his way to becoming the greatest story teller of the century.

I buy pants that fit, because ill-fitting pants make me grumpy.  Same with shoes, if they are too big, I can’t fill them.  Too small, and I’m all cramped up and quite uncomfortable.  I will say, sometimes I get away with a pair that has an elastic waistband that would fit multiple sizes, but they aren’t quite perfect.

That is my wisdom for the day.  Now it’s time for ️

Good afternoon Spies!

After a round with @Byrnzee in glorious fall sunshine and temps approaching 80f when we finished, today in central Indiana is rather different. Cooler and windier. Still got a round in at my local 9-hole muni this morning.

Start of the round was sunny and promising (albeit 62f with 15+mph winds).

By the 3rd hole, the clouds were heading over...

No rain in the forecast and it was nice to play for a second time this weekend. Not that I played all that well for some reason.lol. Gotta love-hate the game...

An afternoon of lawn mowing, car maintenance and pond maintenance is in full swing. Sadly my fun may be ruined by a trip to Ikea.lol

Thanks Boss, we had minor damage  other areas were badly damaged and power is still out.  Hope you’re sisters RV isn’t too badly damaged and repairable.

I know it’s not morning but I’m checking in to say thanks for the well wishes. I’m sure many of you saw the images. Roof torn off the trop, crane blown into a building - my buddy’s law firm was displaced.  
 

It was a rugged ride 31/2 hours of 80 mph plus sustained winds and 100 mph gusts, 5 inch per hour rain. St Pete was said to have a 1/1,000 year rain event. My church and school suffered significant damage. Sanctuary was flooded throughout, leaks in gym, nearly every classroom flooded. 
 

My house had nuisance damage. 
 

Shed can be rebuilt - we’ve already mended the fence. Lots of branches down. AC got taken out when 1/3 of the neighbors roof blew off and flew between our houses.

What you see here was covered with water from our little water way but it never made it on our porch. Road flooding in front of the house threatened us but we fought it off. 
 

Neighbors didn’t fare so well particularly across the water way from us - that’s where the wind was blowing.

Our girls went to Georgia and the guys held down the Fort - that’s grand daughter Kykah with Penny in the van.

My son learned done serious skills in the Navy - very thankful for that.

 

I’ve been tied up with restoration efforts at the Church and School - we tore out the entire carpet yesterday morning, put the pews on slats and it’s sealed while going through a dehydration process. Still no power on most of the campus.

Oh she’s pissed!!! She chewed on the girls too because they were complaining they were tired. She said “ I don’t give an Eff if you’re tired!!! I wanna play yet here I am being honest with you cats!!!” They played the best third period they’ve ever had. She fired them up!!!

Glad to see that your family stayed safe, and that is what matters most.

Things can be repaired/replaced, people not so easily.

I have friends that send messages about the damages they have suffered. It's never easy, and near impossible to fathom someone recovering from some of it.

Morning all on a very wet start here. So wet in fact that by the time I got to work on the motorbike I didn’t have a single piece of clothing that wasn’t wet despite my motorbike kit being laminated waterproof gear. Thankfully we have a drying room so it’ll be dry by the time I go home. 
Managed to get a round in yesterday and beat my PB by a shot. Was a really steady round with nothing particularly exceptional and didn’t even realise I’d shot so well until I downloaded my ShotScope watch. Just hope it continues.

About to head to the airport after two weeks travel. It's been awesome, but I'm really looking forward to getting home. Up at 5 AM here, 11:00 PM back home, we've got a six hour flight then a 6 hour drive - oof!

Good morning everyone! 

It's a back to work Monday and I'm taking it easy in my car before walking in. 

It was a great weekend getting to go out and eat with my wife and doing a little appliance shopping. I didn't get to play this weekend but at least I got out and hit some on the range. I'm hoping I can rectify that this weekend. 

@Northern Monkeycongratulations on the PB! I think it's sometimes better not to know how you're scoring during a round so you don't feel the pressure knowing you have to shoot a certain score to score well.
