First time entering a sim score. Hope I did this right.

Played this 9-hole twice, but only because I found it on Trackman, and when I played it last April in a not-so-well fashion, and now I'm looking for some redemption.

Like I said on the morning thread, I'm going to treat this like a baseline. I parred 3 holes and triple bogeyed on the 3. Score-wise, I think my goal on this course is to stay below +20.

I think the only other learning I've got is to spend less time on the driving range before getting on the course.

Quick reminder and a question:

reminder: we aren’t using course handicaps for SIM rounds (I edited it)

question: was the par of the 9 hole course you played twice only 30? Otherwise, the gross strokes over par needs to be edited to reflect actual par, i.e par 36 x 2 = 72 therefore your over would be 12 rather than 24.

@GolfSpy_BEN Thanks! I saw the required field and didn't know what to put in—zero, got it.

Par for 9 holes is 30. Next time I'm planning to play an 18-holer. I want to see how consistent I can be with my driver. 

Also, I think I read somewhere that if I play five times, I can get a bag tag, so I'm just having fun with this gamification.

For some reason, it's been windier this winter than previous years.  Today, we had 25 mph sustained with gusts to 30+ mph.  It was also a cloudy day, again unusual for this time of year.  I had a marginal front (44) but a solid back (40).  

I missed only two fairways all day.  On the 10th, I missed it by 6 inches and on 11, I missed it by three feet (into a fairway bunker).  For both holes, I recovered nicely, hit good approach shots and one putted for pars.  On the front, I did have a water ball on a poor 8 iron into the only par 5 on the front.  However, I chipped it close and made the putt to salvage a bogey.  One three putt was justified on the 6th hole.  The green slopes pretty hard back to front and the pin was in the front.  I was in the back 41 feet away. I putted it past the hole by 10 ft. and missed the comeback putt.  

I had ten one putt greens along with six up and downs for par.  The greens in regulation (0%) should have been higher as several approach shots came up just short.  Sometimes a solid up and down to save a bogey (especially playing a modified Stapleford system) can feel like par.  I bladed my third shot on the second hole over the green and was faced hitting on a hill down to a back pin tucked in the back.  I flopped it up and made the putt for a bogey.  On our longest par three, I pushed my tee shot right into a penalty area.  Luckily I had an opening and punched it to the green fringe.  A nice chip and one putt completed an unlikely bogey.  It was like stealing a point.

I'm hoping to build on the back nine success for Thursday.  We'll have to see!

Had a window of opportunity to play in-between rainstorms and jumped out for a round.  My driver showed up today hitting 11/14 FW's and overall had a good time.  While I am still getting some pulled fade shots, they are becoming less and less.  I have another lesson planned for next week so I am hoping to continue improving that part of my game.

I was hitting long on my irons which left me some long birdie putts on a few holes but was hitting my target line.

It's easy.  Just complete your round, click "Post Score" at the top right of each week's tournament and fill in the necessary information (golf course, gross score, course handicap, gross strokes over par, net birdies and longest drives).  Each week's tournament begins on Monday and ends on Sunday, but you have until noon Monday to post Sunday's scores.   Weekly MGS badges are awarded to the category winners.  At the end of the year (in March) the overall winner is announced.  

This year, they've added SIM rounds for those in the North.

It's a lot of fun competing on a weekly basis with golfers from all over the world.

The company I used to work for years ago would take our department there for our yearly picnic. If you get the chance to play it, you won't be disappointed.

Great to get back onto the course after a 2 month hiatus for ski season! First round for 2024!!

I squeezed in a round while on a business trip to Hanoi, Vietnam. Unfortunately, January is the coldest month here, and having played in the tropics almost exclusively for the past 17 years, it was quite the adjustment to play in 10°C (50°F) weather.

Gorgeous course - conditions were surprisingly good. Greens were slick as glass. On 4 different holes, I missed my putt from 18-24 ft only to find myself with a 35m short-sided chip back up onto a elevated dome of a green. (Imagine Donald Ross on a vindictive streak.)

All in all, I'm generally happy with how I struck the sticks despite the cold weather and zero play over the holidays.

Can't wait to get back to some warmer temps!

My first round on tour, and one of my worst in awhile, lol  Was a pretty hard course.  Was over 7200 yards and I couldn't stop hooking my drives.  Not a normal thing for me.  Ah well that's golf.

One minor correction was needed (I edited it for you) in that with SIM rounds we don’t use course handicaps. Everyone plays them as a “0”. Because there are multiple types of SIM golf, most of which dont use actual putts to finish the hole, we decided when we started allowing SIM rounds to be posted that everyone regardless of skill level would play as a “0”.

Today, I probably played the best in about seven weeks.  It started with a rain event that took us by surprise.   Once we teed off, it rained only for about half a hole.  

I hit 11 of 14 fairways.  I hit two fairway bunkers on drives, but they were only about four feet off the fairways.  My overall average driving distance today was about 10-12 yards longer that other rounds for this month.  I hope the trend continues!

Speaking of bunkers, I probably had my best day ever out of them.  I was in six all day (including two fairway bunkers on drives).  On the front, I was in a green side bunker on a par 3, hit it out and missed the putt doing a 180 around the hole.  On holes 7 through 9 (two par 4's and a par 3) I had three straight sandy pars with great sand shots and tap in putts.  That's very unusual for me!   

I only had one green in regulation, but my chipping saved me.  I had nine one-putt greens, six up and downs and only 27 putts.  My total distance of putts made was only 32 feet!  On hole 12 my chip went about 10 ft. past the pin and had a makeable putt.  Since I was the last to putt, I told them to keep the flag stick in.  Don't you know I hit a solid putt, hit the flag stick dead on straight and it bounced out leaving me a 1/2 inch putt!  I didn't account for the 25 to 30 mph winds bending the flag stick toward me. 

Given that I'm distance challenged, I need that kind of day good chipping to score.  Today, I had one of those days!
