Well, there were glimpses of goodness.  Birdied two holes in a row on the front, only to hit it OB on the next.  Putter was good, driver OK.  Trying out some new irons, I noticed that my old M2 faces were caving in.  Trying out some Cobra F6's that I haven't gotten used to.  Better days ahead.

Better this morning....got an inch of rain overnight.  Cart path only.  Not much roll.  Got up and down a lot.  GIR continues to be an issue, but attribute it to short drives with no roll and having to hit hybrids into the greens.

If I ever needed an excuse for having a bad round, today is probably my best!

I spent the weekend in Olando attending a professional group meeting and participating in the latest Plastics Hall of Fame induction ceremony.  Yes, plastics does have a hall of fame and no, I wasn't inducted only introducing inductees.  I was rudely wakened early yesterday before me early flight home by a sick feeling.  Turns out I got food poisoning.  Nine of the participants were sick, two actually had to go to the hospital.  I'm not sure how I actually made it home without incident. 

I wasn't going to play, but I remembered that I still had a friend's irons that I regripped for him and he couldn't play without them.  So, I gave it my best.  Turns out my best with nothing to eat for 24 hours and loosing 10 pounds wasn't really very good!

There's nothing in these statistics that made me feel any better!  It wasn't a round for scoring.  It was a round of survival!  In my weakened state, everything was short. 

I play again on Thursday.  I'm taking the next two days to rest up, drink plenty of fluids and try to get back into a somewhat normal diet.  I can only hope that my next two rounds this week are not as disastrous as this one and that in the future, I never have to use this excuse again!

Played well today. Unfortunately, the greens had been punched and sanded. They were extremely slow and bumpy. Rating 70.4 and slope of 125. Hit 10 fairways, 11 greens and 30 putts. Had 3 natural birdies and 6 net birdies offset by 1 double and 4 bogeys.

So after a bit of digging around posting scores on The Grint, I found I have a new handicap for the season. The indoor range work during the winter has definitely paid off. 

+12 is a personal best.

As long as the par for the course is 58, then you are fine as it is showing as a net +2

We had some very severe weather last evening. (I spent an hour in my basement due to tornado warnings. It passed about 30 miles away.) The whole region was drenched with rain and even hail. My regular group wimped out today, as we expected everything was going to be soggy and cart path only (if they even allowed carts at all). I had the morning free, so I went to a nearby course, knowing I can almost always walk on early. Turns out they weren't allowing carts at all, so the place was empty. It was soggy, and I should have moved up a tee box, but since I wasn't holding anyone up I played back. It played long. I struggled to find places for relief from casual water at times. 

The counter guy said they got 2.4" of rain, and 80 mph straight line winds yesterday. There was debris over much of the course, especially attic insulation. (No shingles, so whoever lost their roof wasn't right next door.) There were a number of trees down, and the sound of chainsaws was all over not just the course, but the entire area. One tree in a fairway was right by where I had to walk, so for fun I lasered the stump. It was 75 yards away! (That picture won't upload, for some reason.) Most of the trash cans had diappeared, though some broken bits were floating in one of the lakes.

TPC Toronto North (renovated) course – this is now a championship course. Every hole has been renovated and improved.  Lengthened, fairways narrowed, bunkers rebuilt and added and now come into play on every hole. They now have PGA level sand, beautiful predictable.  The rough is very lush and thick.  The biggest improvement has been made in its green complexes, re-sloped and graded with lots of run off areas.   It is now a much tougher course and places a premium on shot making.   Yet, it’s fair, but requires a lot more thought and thinking as you play each hole. With putts you need to get speed and break correct.   Absolutely loved the redesign by Ian Andrew.  It will be a worthy test for the pros, but yet equally and thoroughly enjoyable for the public.   They are hosting the final qualifier for this year’s Canadian Open on the North course.  This is now a venue worthy of a future Canadian open.

Short game is coming around outside finally.  Had my best putting round in recent memory.  Driver was straight.  Usually don't score like this till mid season.  Lessons and Axius Core really seem to be helping.

Another day and another round where I made it to the 14th hole at +3.  Unfortunately a triple on 14 killed the round, but I didn't melt down and only gave two more strokes away for the final 4 holes.  Lipped out for birdie on 18 to bring it back under 80.  Hard to complain though.
