Windy today...like 175 to a par 3 into the wind and hit a very solid 4I and watch it go straight for the flag and land 25 yards short kind of windy today. Had driver, 7I to a 540 yard par 5 downwind. But most holes were crosswinds and it was tough to judge.

6th hole down wind?

Had similar wind direction last time I played it, which seemed odd since most the time I've been there the 6th and 7th are into the wind with hole 8 down wind.

After a pretty miserable week playing where nothing was working and my head wasn't in the game, ended up with a decent score on Saturday.  Solid round, 2 poor drives on 8 and 16 cost me doubles and a 3 putt bogey on 6 were the only lowlights. +3 on the back 9 is pretty much the best score I've hit on it this year. All I need to do next week is put 2 good nines together.

They cut down the rough some after Friday. I choked down on the club some and figured out how to punch it out of the rough. Wedges and bump and runs were dead on it. Putting so so on the crappy wet greens but it was ok. We played a 3 some and finished in like 3:10 no one in front of us. Did not rush but all of us played good. To give staff credit they evidently cut the roughs down some from Friday

It's crazy what happens when you can keep the ball in play off the tee.  Second week in a row I played a course I've never played, and were it not for the final three holes, I'd have easily broken 80 (went +4 through the final 3, including a three-putt (only one) and dunking a ball on the island par-3 18th).

That being said - just a genuinely fun return to form for my irons compared to last week - I still left quite a few short, but contact was SO much better. There was a sneaky wind up above the trees (played out closer to the ocean in order to get a more favorable temperature, as by my place it was 110F on Friday), and I never really remembered to take it into consideration, which is obviously on me, especially late in the round (in particular, that shot into 18).

The greens were a particularly tricky thing, as well, as they had had fertilizer laid on them (presumably in prep for an upcoming punch?), and it was like putting through Kosher salt, or, you know, fertilizer 🙂 Once I figured out you just had to hit the putt a little harder than you thought, it was actually a pretty good putting round (sans the 3-putt on 17) - 29 in total.

A lot of our courses out here have started to get a little burned out - see pic below - but being only a few miles from the ocean, I could see this place being pretty pristine in the wetter months - a really nice surprise of a course.  Super gettable, not a lot of trouble, but you had to be strategic when it was there (sneaky lakes/rivers once in a while that were blind from the tee or second shot).  Just a really fun round overall!

What an unmitigated disaster!!! I had no business being out there. My back hurt. I was up at 12:30am. I had horrible sleep. I just should have stayed in bed but my partner was counting on me. Plus, I knew that playing was better than not playing and moping around the house. On the plus side, I did get three net birdies or better. I didn't do anything particularly bad...I just didn't put anything together on most holes to score. I hit shots short but online. I considered that a victory as I can grab a different club next time but by the same token, it meant another shot. Just an ugly day. 😪

played pretty well on 17 of the 18 holes.    It was windy and I didn't account for the wind on one of he par 3s.   1st shot wet,  third shot just cleared the water and was almost against the bulkhead,  hit a few more shots for a quad.

Just as soon as the course dried out after a week plus of rain, they aerate the greens.  Not those thin little slits either!   Big time holes with a decent amount of sand!   With the softer greens, you can fly the ball farther without fear of it running out too far.  The downside is that the greens are really slow.

Given all that, the 83 was halfway decent.

image.png.422f8c7b3116311787e80af4a4021bd0.png

Fairways hit in regulation was about average for me at 71%.  I did par one of the three times I didn't hit the fairway though.  Greens in regulation was one better than normal.  Of special note was the nineth hole where I hit a great drive followed up to a solid 7 wood shot on the well-guarded green.  Two putts for par made it a good hole for me!

The four up and downs for pars was about right given the questionable green conditions.  I also had three up and downs for bogey as well.

The 29 putts were a bit high for me, but with aerated greens contributed to that number!

Overall, it was good day. Here's hoping for a better start to the week.  I need to fine tune my driver to be ready for my Titleist long game fitting on Wednesday!

Randomly got paired with the dad of one my daughter’s teammates. Had a great time with him. Front nine was not horrible, but I had a blow up triple bogey hole and a blow up double bogey hole. Seeing more of my practice translate into my game, but still have a good way to go. I gained strokes in 3 of the 4 facets, but lost almost 4 strokes in approach!

Putting hasn’t been great - maybe I should stop rotating putters and feels. Didn’t hit anything longer than 5 feet today but lag putting was solid and had a bunch of 2 putts.

Driver was either great or a snaphook, thankfully more good ones and avoided any lost balls. Basically came down to, hit fairway > par, miss fairway > bogey. All in all a beautiful day of fall golf at one of the best munis in west Michigan.

Only got out for 9 holes this week.  Not a great round. But I had fun getting out. Met three great guys I got paired with.

Ill be honest I felt this round coming with all Tee shot issues I've been having lately... Just keep losing the feels with the Driver finally went out of control and its hard to score from the trees. Have to fight thru it and find those feels again so we keep pushing!

Bad day at gold is still better than a good day at work haha.

No scorecard (technical issues).  Turd of a round, just caught some rough breaks and it just got away from me.
