“The TITANTOUR IGNITE DISC ensures a quick and secure fit; with a few simple turns the shoe is secure, comfortable and ready to go. We took the original PUMA DISC design and customized it for golfers. The result is a sleek, simple and strong closure system that tightens using smooth, steel wires that conform to the foot.” - Grant Knudson, Head of Footwear and Accessories, PUMA Golf

The short story is that PUMA Golf has announced a limited edition version of the TITANTOUR IGNITE Golf Shoe. It features PUMA's bold Olympic colorway; obviously adapted for the golf course. I got my first look at it during the PGA Show. It was totally hush-hush at the time, while being referred too as Rickie's Olympic Shoe.

Other than the bold colorways, the noteworthy change to the shoe is the integration of PUMA's DISC closure system. Stating the obvious, it's a lace-free, BOA-like system where all you need to do is turn one way to tighten and turn the other way to loosen.

If you've never tried BOA or DISC, what you need to know is that once you have, you'll never go back.

LACES ARE FOR SUCKERS.

These cable-based systems do much better job providing a consistently tight and comfortable fit, and the tongue never twists. It's the way all golf shoes should be made.

The Olympic shoe will be available in Red Blast/White/Black (Shown) and White Black. Both colorways will be available online and in-store on July 12th. Retail price is $220.

And now, here's a gratuitous amount of photos, because, well...I like taking pictures of shoes. Please don't judge me.

Love the shoes, but would never pay retail for them.

I've got 2 pairs of Hyperflex with BOA and I never want to go back to laces.  I've been wishing Puma would come out with this for a while now so I'm excited to finally see it.

The 2 issues I have are the colorway options and cost adder.  Neither colorway is appealing to me, but if they came in blue I would definitely consider it.  For price having the Disc is a $60 cost adder.  That is ridiculous.  To add BOA in Footjoy or Adidas is only a $20 adder.  They are over priced at the moment but when they go on clearance next season and add in some additional colors I could see myself buying a pair.

I have 3 pair of FJ's with BOA. Since I now have to wear a brace on my left ankle, the BOA makes it easier to tighten up just right.

  • 1 month later...

For those with the BOA system, is it just me does it feel like it only tightens up near the top and the bottom of the "laces" still feel looser? I prefer for all of the laces to feel nice and tight around my foot going back to my basketball and football days.
