Tiger made the switch....maybe I should?

.

used an Odyssey #9 for a while. I just felt that it wasn't "natural" and I had to manipulate it too much...

.

I wouldn't have picked a #9 as a putter to pick based on the recommendation. The 9 is closer to toe down.

How did you manipulate the putter? Had to close the face to avoid a miss right?

He picked a Scotty Newport 3 for me.  Has more mass in the toe.

As you can see from the Sam Lab the toe closes almost twice as much in the throughswing.

If you take a close look at the shape a #9 is pretty similar.

I felt like I had to consciously close the putter at impact to avoid it going left instead of just naturally swinging....

You are right on the toe hang, I thought the 9 had more than it does. Are you left handed.? I am thinking right handed so closed would go left.

If you swing naturally, the toe should remain open to the path and close slower than the one on puttlab.

Right hand

I just want to hit it and not think anything whatsoever about opening, closing, straight, arc...

That should be the goal.  You should just swing the putter and it does what it needs to do.    When you start using words like "manipulate" that means you are think about the mechanics.

In my case,  the path is biased to the left so I need a putter that remains open to the path to start the ball online.  I don't think about or try to leave the face open,  it does because of how the putter works with the stroke.

Well that experiment was pretty much over after a couple of holes.

I did make a nice right to left 12 footer for birdie but also missed a bunch 8 feet and in.

I just couldn't feel the weight of the head in my stroke.

So inconsistent...

Back to the closet with that one...

...well, the Elevado doesn't get here until tomorrow so I'm going old school with my TPMills Spalding blade for my league match this afternoon. We'll see if club champion was right....

Got mine today too and used it in the basement and really like the way it feels! Can't wait to see for real on Saturday.

major rain storm passed over us last night and dumped 1" plus in a matter of minutes.

afterwards I went to a local course around 5:15 to try out my new putter.

the green was sopping wet and the holes were filled to the top with H2O but I really wanted to roll some putts on a real green with it.

I was really happy with a couple of things.

1 - line...it stayed on line most of the time.

2 - short putts...within 3-5 feet these seemed really easy

One thing that I realized I need to do is keep my head level/steady until the ball stops.  this will prevent the dreaded "look up" when hitting the putt.  I found when I did that my contact was much more crisp and I got the ball closer.

Playing 36 with it tomorrow with @Wedgie so we'll see how it does when the heat is on!

Got to take the elevado out on Friday and I was more than satisfied with it. Alignment is very easy and the putter feels great. The feel was softer than I'm accustomed to so it's gonna be an adjustment but overall I am very impressed

Ok. I've put some thought into this, but havent read every post in here... so if this is a double recommendation... sorry.

Ever thought about a SeeMore?

Had one a few years ago.

At first I thought it was magical but then all I could think of was hiding the red dot.

Took my mind completely off of making the putt.

I'll give ZJ credit...if it works for you it can be a real asset.

I'd probably black out the red dot if I had one. Just for that reason. I rolled one at a PGA Super Store... not a bad flatstick. Take a bit to get used to the center shaft, but I could see myself enjoying putting with one with some practice.

Take a look at the Bobby Grace F18 or F22 putters. I recently purchased an F18 on ebay for $55 and have been putting very good with it, very few 3 putts. Always been a fan of Bobby Grace putters, check out his website and watch the video explaining his face technology.

Goof luck in finding the right putter
