Words you have been pronouncing incorrectly

A fun thread here.But posts some words you have pronounced incorrectly for a long time.And just recently were notified of your mispronounciation

 

Mine are : (food related of course)

 

Gyro: I provinced it Gero .. where it is pronounced Yero

 

Next is Au jus. I pronounced just as stated. I was told it is pronounced Au juice

I'm sure they aren't mispronounced.  I spent a lot of time in Augusta, and I found many words sounded different, but they were pronounced perfectly for Georgians.

Coincidentally, shouldn't we be taking pronunciations from the Egyptians on this one?

Weird thread...

 

My wife yells at me daily when I say “Always”, I leave the L out and it pisses her off to no end... sounds like Owe-ayes.

 

And don't try to get me to say Arnold Palmer... for whatever reason it's a tongue twister for me.

My 12-year old daughter cracks me up! She has the annoyingly bad habit of ignoring "t"s that are in the middle of words.

 

So "Mountain" sounds like "Mou-in" and "Peyton" sounds like "Pay-in"...  I make fun of her every time and I'm sure it drives her english instructors batty...er "bah-ee"
