It's a '57 MGA. Not the original color (the original color in the photo below but not the same car) - that one is a 50's ford . At some point we will have it repainted to the original but typical of old English cars it needs lot of work. Needs body work (lots of bondo), we had the frame re welded already. and needs to be re-wired since it still has the old Lucas wiring, connectors etc. The joke around old English cars is the Lucas invented the short circuit.  Needless to say it'll cost more to restore than it's worth.

I played bagpipes for 7 years. A newborn and some house projects became priority so my free time fell to either boating on the lake or golf. I love everything about the pipe band and the tradition and history it holds within the fire service. Playing this incredibly temperamental instrument was an incredible honor but deserves regular attention and practice. The opportunities it offered were unreal, I still get goosebumps when I look back at the events I was fortunate enough to participate in.

 

We made up for the difficult gigs by keeping things light.

Brewing and drinking beer and motor vehicles are my other hobbies. Actually, I'm in the hunt for a car to buy in about July or so next year. 4 door, rear drive, 400hp...and it's Australian.

Yep. 09 G8 GT. I can get the front bonnet, grill and lower valance with the Holden badges as well as the rear stuff and interior bits as well. Change out the console to replace the crap audio and gain touchscreen A/C controls. I have a plan and I should see 420+ at the wheels and keep drivability and mileage...but you'll hear it coming.

Are you importing it? My son in law has constantly talked about buying US cars to import to Hobart. Apparently a big market down there for them. You're doing the reverse?

I build snowboards. Myself and a friend own a brand Blak Sheep.  Here are a few of them.

There, I made it a solid month+ without bringing it up, but you asked!!

Its usually the other way around:  I'm usually saying "well, I also love to golf!"

I am going to start building furniture. My early adulthood I spent working at a veneer mill grading lumber. I have grown to appreciate fine/rare wood.

 

First up is a coffee table. I am going with buzz sawn hickory. It will look similar to this hopefully when I am finished.

Fantastic. I am taking advantage of my fathers wisdom as he teaches me the trade. He guided me through my family’s dining room table. We took four quarter black walnut on palm sanded barn wood.

Nick Offerman also has some incredible stories on social media as he builds projects.

That isn’t my work, can’t take credit for that. But that is my inspiration. There is a saw mill nearby that can get those blade marks for me. I like the look.

What’s great about woodworking is it forces you to slow down. You simply cannot rush a project and expect it to be a clean product.

Fly fishing and volunteer work.  We run a "wood bank" here in the valley.  About 12 of us from the Episcopal and Catholic churches buy logs, cut, split, and deliver to about 20 individuals/families who are struggling to make ends meet.

Nope. The 08 & 09 Pontiac G8 GT is a VE SS Commodore. I'll get one from somewhere around the country and slowly convert it to full Commodore.

During the winter I like playing hockey and attempting to kill myself on my snowboard on the hill/terrain park. Used to bowl, but not around enough to join a league. I will sub for some of my friends in matchplay a couple times a year and usually win 3/4 matches that night.

During the summer I like to fish, golf and camp.

Would like to get back into woodworking when I have a house with a garage. Helped pass the winter when I lived with my parents

Apart from golf I like to play guitar and build things, which naturally lead me to building guitars. I try building guitars that look like they came right out of the 1970’s










Now I’ve taken a new direction and enjoy working on old persimmon golf clubs.

I am picking up hockey again due to pressure of the hockey team from work. I hunt and train dogs all summer and fall.

I'm going to start making duck calls from wood blanks. My uncle makes turkey calls and I'm big into duck hunting so why not give it a shot.

No hobbies outside of golf. There are some things that I think would be interesting but can’t seem to commit to dedicating the time to get started.

May have to wait until I am retired to come up with another hobby outside of golf.

I don't have many hobbies outside of golf at the moment. I just don't have much time on my hands right now (feel like I barely play golf as it is). But, if I wasn't spending any extra money or time on golf, I'd either be spending it on building custom computers or some form of biking (MTB or BMX most likely). Hopefully sometime within the next year, I'll be able enjoy a few more hobbies, but just not feasible right now.

Ah man, that was my first build. Tons of brass hardware including a period correct late 1970’s solid brass pickguard and tremolo with a Dimarzio Super Distortion pickup. A rock beast!
