Murray06
Hi all, Shafts are not only a minefield but also my weakest knowledge point with equipment so looking for help. What would you suggest for a 5 wood with the aim of achieving a mid to high ball flight. Driver swing speed on average 100/101 Shafts currently using in signature. Got fitted for the driver and matched the woods, foolishly perhaps but had no other shafts to try. thanks Quote Driver: Titleist TSi2 10 / Mitsubishi Tensei AV Blue Raw 65 S 3 Wood: Titleist TSi3 15 / Project X RDX Smoke Black 70 6.0 Hybrid: Titleist TSi3 18 / Fujikura Atmos HB Tour Spec Red 7 S 4 Iron: Titleist U500 / Graphite Design Tour AD DI 85 S 5 - 9 Irons: Mizuno 921 Tour / Nippon Modus 3 120 S Wedges: Titleist Vokey SM7 46F, 50F, 54S & 58M / Nippon Modus Wedge 115 Putter: Scotty Cameron Newport Select (2016) / BGT Stability Tour Ball: Srixon Z Star XV

RI_Redneck
Focus more on the loft of the head than the shaft to get the launch you want. The shaft only helps marginally with launch angle. BT

To @Murray06 The Helium Black 4 should work well with that Quote G430 Max 10K TSiR1 15.0 Aldlia Ascent 60g TSR2 18.0 PX Aldila Ascent 6og TSi1 20 Aldila Ascent Shafts R T350 5-GW SteelFiber I80 SM10 48F/54M and58K S159 48S/52S/56W/60B Select 5.5 Flowback 35" ProV1 Play number

Since the loft is the important factor in getting a FW that launches properly for his swing and fills the distance that it needs to fill, it could be a 4w, 5w, 7w or 9w that fits the situation best. They're all just FWs with lofts stamped on them these days anyway. BT
xBAGGS
I have the Atmos TS Red 70X in my 4wd. Love that shaft and highly recommend going to a fitter and testing it out if possible. Have had the Atmos in the bag for 3 years and I don't see it coming out anytime soon. I moved to the ventus blue in my driver as I thought the Atmos Red TS 6x in my Driver put the ball too high in the air, FWIW. I thought you were saying that a different head of 5 wood would affect the launch more than a shaft. I was answering in the thought he is intent on sticking with a 5 wood. That the model of 5 wood won't matter as much as the shaft if that is the case. Murray06
Thanks guys. Had already added the atmos to the list of shafts to test along with aldila tour blue so will add helium black on there also. I just see lots of folks attempting to get a decent launch difference by switching shafts and it just doesn't happen. Loft will give a much more substantial change. Cheers!
